No Homework? Students Could End Up In Court
DELTA, Ohio -- Some northwest Ohio middle school students who don't do their homework could find themselves in front of a judge.
School officials in the Pike-Delta-York district have enacted a new homework policy that they say is aimed at a small group of students who routinely miss assignments.
A student who habitually fails to turn in homework can be suspended for three days.
Principal Dennis Ford said a second offense could lead to the student being declared unruly for disobedience in a juvenile court, which carries the possibility of probation.
Ford said the school has tried a number of ways to convince students that homework is important but none has worked.
