ACLU: Heavily redacted CIA docs render more torture evidence

In response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the CIA released a series of heavily redacted documents which detail new allegations of torture made by terror war prisoners.
An ACLU media advisory highlights the key statements disclosed Monday:
Abu Zubaydah: “After months of suffering and torture, physically and mentally, they did not care about my injuries that they inflicted to my eye, to my stomach, to my bladder, and my left thigh and my reproductive organs. They didn’t care that I almost died from these injuries. Doctors told me that I nearly died four times.” “They say ‘this in your diary.’ They say ’see you want to make operation against America.’ I say no, the idea is different. They say no, torturing, torturing. I say ‘okay, I do. I was decide to make operation.’”
• Al Nashiri: “[And, they used to] drown me in water.”
• Muhammad: “This is what I understand he [CIA interrogator] told me: you are not American and you are not on American soil. So you cannot ask about the Constitution.”
• Khan: “In the end, any classified information you have is through…agencies who physically and mentally tortured me.”
“The information released today sheds some new light on the CIA’s torture program, but there are still unanswered questions,” said Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project, in an advisory. “The Obama administration should make good on its commitment to transparency, stop suppressing information about torture and abuse and hold accountable the officials who put unlawful policies in place.”

NEW YORK – The CIA today released still-highly redacted documents in which Guantánamo Bay prisoners describe abuse and torture they suffered in CIA custody. The documents were released as part of an American Civil Liberties Union Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking uncensored transcripts from Combatant Status Review Tribunals (CSRTs) that determine if prisoners held by the Defense Department at Guantánamo qualify as “enemy combatants.” In previously released versions of the documents, the CIA had removed virtually all references to the abuse of prisoners in their custody; the documents released today are still heavily blacked out but include some new information.
“The documents released today provide further evidence of brutal torture and abuse in the CIA’s interrogation program and demonstrate beyond doubt that this information has been suppressed solely to avoid embarrassment and growing demands for accountability,” said Ben Wizner, a staff attorney with the ACLU National Security Project and lead attorney on the FOIA lawsuit. “There is no legitimate basis for the Obama administration’s continued refusal to disclose allegations of detainee abuse, and we will return to court to seek the full release of these documents.”
The newly unredacted information includes statements from the CSRTs of former CIA detainees, including Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, Abd Al Rahim Hussein Mohammed Al Nashiri, Abu Zubaydah and Majid Khan, including descriptions of torture and coercion. These statements include:

I don’t even think that post is his… You guys love to hate him. Better use the energy on research for counter claims with factual documents and real science to back claims. He has valid points to his claims when posters here are slinging mud and real reconmarine isn’t continuing exchanges. First of all, thank you for serving. It takes testicular fortitude to live that life and a deep belief in justice in order to give up all of your personal rights for the good of society. However, with that said, your military programming does not allow you to see that you have lost site of justice, and you have forgotten your oath to support and defend The Constitution. I will admit it, Reconmarine, while I served I was completely brainwashed and programmed by the system, and I lost the ability to see the truth. My question is almost everything the CIA does is against the law, exactly why then is it allowed to exist and more significantly why are we taxpayers supporting a criminal agency? From what I can find or better put, couldn’t find, there are no existing federal laws or amendments to the US Constitution that exempt any federal agency from the laws of this nation. Whatz up with this?

There is a difference between not liking the US government and hating America. Time has come to review all overt and covert operations of CIA all over the world in last 60+ odd years.
One will be simply surprised how dirty thier laundry is. So why just take the Iraq episode as the sole example of gross violation of law.
Just the other day Obama had to say Mea Kulpa about the 1953 CIA operation in Iran.
What about the 1971 hoax to Pakistan or for that matter the Saint Regan’s Iran Contra affair.

I swore an oath to protect my constitution and the peoples of the REPUBLIC from enemies both foreign and domestic.

Terrorist alert drills, open domestic evacuations, media and publicity that makes us all believe that we are safer when the police have all the guns.
I asked a kid when I saw the news about a suspect shot to death outside of his wedding, with no weapon found nearby or on his persons.
The kid was in total awe and was applauding the police for getting the bad guy.
I wondered what if that bad guy was me? Would he still clap?
Some women and children in my community are terrified of guns, they tremble and shake, cry or are tremendously upset.
Why? Because they have learned guns are bad. They learned that only police should have guns, they learned that civilians with guns are nuts, that they should be arrested.
Second Amendment states otherwise. The Tenth and Fourth as well.
We fight for a lost cause. We fight those whose belief are unshakeable. As we are. We fight against those who control the media who brain washed our Fathers, Mothers, Brothers and Sisters.
We risk being branded as idiots, terrorists, dissentors, gun fanatics, crazies, uneducated inbreds or rednecks with little ambition in life. We risk being ostracized from our communities. We never wish that curse on anyone.
We undertake the mantle of the pariah for a just cause I assure you. We accept these brands as detestable as they are because we have our eyes opened. We could never burden the opiated masses with our burden. We stand alone; we stand united in our hope with the awakened few. We stand to defend our constitution, and our people, not a democracy, not a republic, not corporations. We defend America from enemies both FOREIGN and DOMESTIC.
Our enemy is much closer than we want them to be. The most dangerous nemesis always is.
