When a Jefferson County deputy unleashed pepper spray at unruly protesters on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, he did not know that his targets were undercover Denver police officers.
Now the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado is questioning whether that staged confrontation by police pretending to be violent inflamed other protesters or officers during the most intense night of the four-day event.
The protest occurred Aug. 25 at 15th Street and Court Place near Civic Center. Police ultimately arrested 106 people, the highest number of arrests in a single day during the convention.
According to a use-of-force police report obtained by the ACLU, undercover Denver detectives staged a struggle with a police commander to get pulled out of the crowd without blowing their cover. The commander knew they were working undercover, and the plan was to pull them out of the crowd and pretend they were under arrest so protesters would be none the wiser.
A Jefferson County deputy, unaware of the presence of undercover police, thought that the commander was being attacked and used pepper spray on the undercover officers.

The report says that the commander and an undercover detective were sprayed, but it does not indicate how many others were affected. The report also doesn’t say whether the pepper spray used on the undercover police was the first deployment of chemicals that night or whether the riot was already underway.
Denver police have said they were trying to control the crowd moving from Civic Center. The officers testified in court that they had intelligence that anarchists planned to gather in the park, then move toward the 16th Street Mall to wreak havoc at delegate hotels and other businesses. The activists had posted that plan on a publicly available website.
Probe requested
On Thursday, the ACLU of Colorado sent a letter to Denver’s Independent Monitor, Richard Rosenthal, asking for the Internal Affairs Bureau to conduct an investigation of the pepper-spraying incident.
“The actions of the undercover detectives on August 25, 2008, may have had the effect of exacerbating an already ‘tense situation,’ as their feigned struggle led nearby officers and the public to believe that a commanding officer was being attacked by protestors and that the situation necessitated the use of chemical agents,” says the letter, written by ACLU staff attorney Taylor Pendergrass.

Police in riot gear used pepper spray on protesters about a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.
The confrontation erupted in front of the Denver City and County Building as police tried to disperse a crowd of about 300 that was disrupting traffic, authorities said.
It was believed to be the first time police used any kind of force against protesters sinc More..e demonstrations began on Sunday, a day before the convention.
Police Lt. Ron Saunier said he didn’t know if anyone had been arrested, but officers on the scene led at least two people away as the crowd chanted “Let them go!”

I was at the WTO action in Seattle, Drac, and I can tell you with complete certainty in that case, that the vast majority of windows broken and the other destructive acts were done by off duty cops and imported thugs that were posing as protestors so the cops could justify use of force. They were all wearing black swat bodysuits with black facemasks. We saw them in the parking garage organizing…they had radios and riot gear there also.
If you think these are not false flag operations so they can justify more presence and oppression, you are a total idiot.

I live in Mobile, Alabama. Personally I have had to deal with the local law enforcement among so called security at a local campus for over 15 years. You cannot place your trust in your local police department. They are the police dogs of the rich and powerful. I believe what I have read above. The police officers are hired to be told to do whatever they are told to do. Not to think for themselves. Usually the officers we dealt with were less then intelligent and basically their hands were tied. We were constantly lied to. We realized then that there was no judicial system that would help us. We were basically on our own. The city (mayor, council members, attorneys), state (2 govenors, attorney general), Federal (fbi) would not help us. In fact were threaten and intimadated constantly. The local paper tried to damage our credibility. We were threaten by the fraternity, slandered and even shot at twice (we had to hire private security to make sure we would be ok but we were still threaten). We went to court numerous times and had boxes of documentation, videos and tape recordings and still we could not get anything done. People we talked to couldn’t believe what we went thru and they couldn’t believe nothing was done. It was because the faternity had rich and powerful alumni. It all came down to money and power. This same fraternity is no longer on campus and fraternities can no longer have parties with drinking on campus. Plus the fraternity was involved in a major fight off campus that ended up with a boy almost losing his life..So my thoughts on this is don’t trust your local police officer and remember they are not on your side. Never confess to anything.

Sorry Carlee, I guess I didn’t address your question perhaps you are not a Christian or if so you haven’t studied the Book of Revelation? The Book of Revelation describes 2 basic time periods covering a 7 year period. During that time period many calamities happen to our world, in the first 3 1/2 year period there will be 2 prophets of God who travel the earth and pronounce judgment on the inhabitants by plagues and natural disasters. These prophets are hated by the world and an individual rises to power through intrigue who ends up garnering all of the world’s support. He finally kills the 2 prophets in Jerusalem and they lie dead in the streets for 3 days while the world celebrates. Then after 3 days they are resurrected by God and ascend into heaven marking the end of the first 3 1/2 year period. The second 3 1/2 year period covers the time frame when the beast or antichrist takes over the entire world and cause all people to receive his mark upon their forehead or the back of their hand. No one is allowed to trade without the mark of the beast. At the end of the second 3 1/2 year period Christ returns to earth and slays the beast issuing in a 1,000 year reign of peace for the world. Also of interest is that anyone receiving the mark of the beast will be punished for eternity their names will not be included in the Lamb’s Book of Life. So, if the Mayans have somehow foreseen biblical events and prophecy then my guess is that December 21st 2012 marks the day when the prophets are killed and the beast ascends his throne. The earth then has another 3 1/2 years to suffer under the reign of the antichrist and also from the remaining plagues that God will pour out to end His wrath against those who worship the beast. Is that a good enough explanation? All pure conjecture mind you.

I have personally witnessed how the nobler form of street protests can bring a tyrant down and change the course of things for the better. I will not presume to know who was at fault in Denver nor will I judge the politics involved behind the incident. I would admonish people though not to use street protests for self-serving and ignoble purposes because you will be taking away the last and only effective recourse of people who have valid grievances that need to be addressed. Street protests used to fight for a righteous cause is a good thing, a time of bonding for ordinary decent citizens who otherwise do not have a voice in the game of big politics. It should be the last and not the first recourse of action. Abusing this right to assemble will only lead to intolerance from the powers that be and heap abuse to those who can only be strong if they are welded together in common cause.

It’s like that in the United Kingdom they send their own Sons into School acting as blenders into their own age group then they come in on you asking for sex or something else then they get you into trouble for it when they started it first.
