Statement before the US House of Representatives, July 30, 2008, on H. RES. 1370, Calling on the Government of the People’s Republic of China to immediately end abuses of the human rights of its citizens

Madam Speaker, I rise in opposition to this resolution, which is yet another meaningless but provocative condemnation of China. It is this kind of jingoism that has led to such a low opinion of the United States abroad. Certainly I do not condone human rights abuses, wherever they may occur, but as Members of the US House of Representatives we have no authority over the Chinese government. It is our Constitutional responsibility to deal with abuses in our own country or those created abroad by our own foreign policies. Yet we are not debating a bill to close Guantanamo, where abuses have been documented. We are not debating a bill to withdraw from Iraq, where scores of innocents have been killed, injured, and abused due to our unprovoked attack on that country. We are not debating a bill to reverse the odious FISA bill passed recently which will result in extreme abuses of Americans by gutting the Fourth Amendment.

Instead of addressing these and scores of other pressing issues over which we do have authority, we prefer to spend our time criticizing a foreign government over which we have no authority and foreign domestic problems about which we have very little accurate information.

    (Article continues below)

I do find it ironic that this resolution “calls on the Government of the People’s Republic of China to begin earnest negotiations, without preconditions, directly with His Holiness the Dalai Lama or his representatives.” For years US policy has been that no meeting or negotiation could take place with Iran until certain preconditions are met by Iran. Among these is a demand that Iran cease uranium enrichment, which Iran has the right to do under the terms of the Non-Proliferation Treaty. It is little wonder why some claim that resolutions like this are hypocritical.

Instead of lecturing China, where I have no doubt there are problems as there are everywhere, I would suggest that we turn our attention to the very real threats in a United States where our civil liberties and human rights are being eroded on a steady basis. The Bible cautions against pointing out the speck in a neighbor’s eye while ignoring the log in one’s own. I suggest we contemplate this sound advice before bringing up such ill-conceived resolutions in the future.

Speaking of hypocrites…what about this country Mr. Paul, why did you leave this one out of the picture, don’t you understand what is going on here? You are just as bad as all the others who have their heads up their asses…you bastards sicken me. WE TORTURE! WE LOCK UP MORE PEOPLE THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY MR. HYPOCRITE PAUL!

    2. t Says:

MAR, you completely missed the point! read it again.

    3. MAR Says:

      T, will do.

    4. trueblue Says:

It sounds to me that Mr.Paul addressed the American issues quite forcefully and clearly. In fact, He actually enumerated many of the AMERICAN abuses while stressing that WE have no business telling other countries what they can, or can’t do. Will

    5. MAR Says:

      T, I stand corrected…

    6. Matt Says:

wtf are you talking about MAR? Did you not just read that statement? That’s what Dr. Paul was saying. learn2read.

    7. MAR Says:

Thanks, guys you are all correct…so, what do we do about the abuses here…elect more of the same people who continue to enact the same sort of anti-humane legislation? I’m sick of it all…they just lie to us all the time, just when we think someone is going to do something and we vote for them they turn on us and do more of the same….hopelessness seems to be the new American deam. I am watching my country disolve and it is my leaders who point their fingers at imaginary enemies overseas that aren’t our enemies and it is that group in washington who lock us up torture in their prisons and jails and use us as they see fit…no enemy has ever treated us so badly as our own government. Thanks for setting me straight on this one…

Ron Paul is just a man, he stands alone even if the people support him, what can he do against the powers of darkness, the republic is dead democracy ends with a thundering applause, the people want bread let the circus continue!

    9. Paul T Says:

Ron Paul would make a huge difference to the world if he were to become President of the USA. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, this seems unlikely. At least he still has a voice in congress to try to keep others in check with his sane perspectives.

    10. Inspector clusoau Says:

Over the past 6 months, myself and thousands of other RP followers believed in the dream of President Ron Paul. The dream has slipped away for the moment and left a large void in the political spectrum. I for one have no intention for voting for Obama or McCain…

That being said, the message that RP is trying to advance is rugged individualism as opposed to collectivism. What does this mean?

Well, I think that RP wants each and every American Citizen to carry the torch of freedom and liberty forward to see his vision to fruition. He started the fire and now it is up to the followers to make the vision happen…

What does this mean to the average citizen? This means that education is required. No, I don’t mean the nonsense that they teach in public schools. I am talking about idealogy and philosophy and a strong understanding of world history past and present.

In addition, Americans have to get off the crack… Yes, I am talking about fluoridation. Are you silly enough to believe that the public water is fluoridated to keep you from getting cavaties?
Read the label on the toothpaste. WARNING POISON: Contains fluoride. This is how we are being dumbed down into “STEMMERS” and OXYGEN Thieves that are PISSED off that we have to carry around the extra weight of a BRAIN!

Education can be done on a small one on one setting. Start by educating and informing your close friends and relatives about the issues that are critical to our country. This would include:
Eliminating the Federal Reserve, Going back to a Gold standard, elimination of DEBT based Fiat currency, Constitutional Protections, Habas Corpes, endless WARS, The false war on Terrorism, the 911 Truth so on and so forth.

Change starts with each individual understanding his or her purpose for being on the planet and their personal role in freedom and liberty for themselves and their family…

Americans have to start getting active and engaging in peaceful activism. What does this mean?

Writing lots of letters to elected officials and companies and govt. agencies. Peaceful protests. Product and company boycots. Voting with your feet and your wallets. Stop traveling abroad, refuse the passport. Don’t partake in professional sports or other activities that illustrate the mindless citizen…

      My wildest fantasy…
Nobody showing up at the DNC or RNC conventions.
Nobody voting for McCain or Obama in the general elections.
Refusing to show any support for the new president.
Refusing to go to WAR in IRAQ and IRAN…

Make it happen. Make Ron Paul Proud to be an American…

    11. Jer Says:

      Inspector- great post

the only reason why RP would never win is because the system is rigged. even if he was pres. everything he tried to do would be shut down. but now that his message is out there, there are plenty of people waking up, and those who have been awake prior to RP, joining.

    12. Russo Says:

lol what would fox news do if Ron Paul was president

    13. WXYZ Says:

Definitely the story of the week was the astounding revelation of
of senior Nasa official Clark McClelland.

McClelland supported astronaut Ed Mitchell’s claim that the military was interacting with alien races.

McClelland revealed that he saw an 8 to 9 alien in the shuttle docking bay on his moniter during a classified shuttle mission.

He also witnessed a UFO locked in a stationary orbit with the shuttle.

      It’s a book really..
according to this, NIKOLA TESLA invented flying saucer-technology in the early 1900’s, but it was consealed by electrical- and motor companies and the CIA & Gov.

      So..that would make ufos a government hoax…
mkultra-chemicals + Hollywood masking skills and you have yourselves some aliens.
