Over the weekend President-elect Barack Obama scrubbed Change.gov, his transition Web site, deleting most of what had been a massive agenda copied directly from his campaign Web site.
Gone are the promises on how an Obama administration would handle 25 different agenda items – everything from Iraq and immigration to taxes and urban policy – all items laid out on his campaign Web site, www.BarackObama.com.
Instead, the official agenda on Change.gov has been boiled down to one vague paragraph proclaiming a plan “to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.”
(Article continues below)
“We are currently retooling the Web site,” said Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro.
The site went active on Wednesday and was available to the public Thursday. The agenda items, which were active for at least part of the weekend, appear to have been deleted by late Saturday.
The site still contains pages about how to apply for jobs in the Obama administration, biographies of top transition team members and a call for Americans to serve in volunteer jobs and for students to do 50 hours of community service. The site also has press releases and a transition blog.
The 25 agenda items are still available on Mr. Obama’s campaign site.

When I first read the Foreign Policy section I was staggered. The word diplomacy was used with the word aggressive quite a lot. A lot of countries were mentioned. When it came to South America the word diplomacy was, of the two, the word that was missing. I was expecting the networks to be howling about it and when silence was all that followed I began to wonder if the site was a spoof.
Until I saw the article on it on CNN’s site earlier and went to visit again, only to find, as stated above, all the content was gone.
Oops!
I wonder how many people saw what was there, it seemed very strongly worded in places and not quite like the stuff on the election site.
I dunno, I’m not American.
But I am somewhat concerned.

The actions of a man are what make him great – not the color of his skin…
November 10th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
His actions will make him great alright. Just watch!

If he changes nothing else in the next four years, he can at least defend his alleged commitment to “change” by citing the fact that he’d changed the policies he got himself elected with, before he’d even had the chance to pretend to try and change something by enacting them.

give the guy a chance…if he is half of what you guys think, it will be bad, but lets see.

His agenda is still there: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

That sucks!!
I went to his site the first day it was up, the agenda part was my favorite. I couldn’t believe it, it was so specific, nothing like most politicians that leave everything purposefully vague so that we can never hold their feet to the fire.
I thought real change was on the way, guess I shouldn’t be supprised

There was something on that site that mentioned “do no evil”.
I guess that was scrapped also.

Mike Fess – I think you should face your own demons. You are probably repressed and can’t accept you sexuality. Don’t worry most thinking people have no hate for repressed homosexuals.
Re. subject at hand. What concerns me and probably (hopefully) many people around the world, is just how brainwashed the American masses are. As I always say – just join the dots. ‘He who wispers in the kings ear – - – - “

Let them redo the site and get off his nuts it was either him or bush again so just let us be happy for a day or two?Even if he lied about everything he is the lesser of two evils plain and simple.
November 11th, 2008 at 4:00 am
Alpop – Lesser of two evils you think! Well how very reassuring that we have what you consider to be the lesser EVIL.
Again I am surprized by yet another poster to this site who can’t join the dots. Please look at his team then tell us he is the lesser!!

they electronically sent his detailed agenda to winston smith in the records department, there he studiously studies the work that appears in front of him and re-writes it in accordance with what the party wants,in doing this it never existed,as the past is constantly rewritten over and over to fit what amsoc wants.
this scares winston,he still clings to the scrap of humanity that inhabits the space inside his cranium,he can still be unorthodox there.he hates the mindless shouting, banners and brave new world he inhabits.he pauses, this is real evidence that amsoc lies and could be used as evidence in the future that amsoc is corrupt.
winston becomes aware of the telescreen that inhabits his workstation,he pushes the button to send this information into the electronic memory hole.thats it,history has been rewritten to suit the party, the past has been rewritten to fit the future.
if their is a hope it is with the people, still he thinks, they wanted change and literally that is what they have got.
1949-1984-2008……….it is really happening.

I voted for Baldwin. And my conscience is satisfied. Never again with the lesser of two evils.
November 11th, 2008 at 5:54 am
“work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon” – This will be the generated international crisis. He will probably present falsified documents claiming Iran could launch nukes on western targets within 45minutes and then declare war on Iran.
November 11th, 2008 at 6:18 am
Does anyone know where or have a copy of that agenda informationj for future reference?
November 11th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Bhang Bhang – I totally agree with you. Even though I knew my vote would not even be counted, I still wrote in Ron Paul. And for the first time in a long time, I felt good when I walked out of the voting booth!! McLame and Osama did not deserve our votes.
