Childhood indoctrination. It’s a dirty word. Hitler did it. Stalin did it. It can never happen here in the free world, now can it? Of course not.
In the past few days, I have had a couple of disturbing conversations about AGW with the younger generation, including my own daughter. Particularly striking is the one I had with the 12-year old daughter of a friend.

Dee: So, do you believe in Global Warming?
Melissa: Oh, yes!
Dee: Oh? Do you think that people are responsible?
Melissa: Uh huh. They put all that junk in the air and it has to be causing the world to get warmer.
Dee: Is that so? That junk is called carbon dioxide and of all the carbon dioxide that is going into the air, how much of it do you think that people are adding?
Melissa: I dunno… Maybe 75 percent?
Dee: 75%? What if I told you it was less than 5% and the rest was all natural?
Melissa: Well how about all the polar bears that are drowning? The ice cap is melting.
Dee: Ummmm… How many polar bears have drowned?
Melissa: I dunno, but they’re going extinct.
Dee: Oh, really? Polar bear population had doubled in the last few of decades.
Melissa: You are making me mad.
Dee: Why is that?
Melissa: Cause you are.
Dee: OK, so where did you learn that the polar bears are dying?
Melissa: A movie they showed at the school.
Well, gentle readers, I knew to which movie she was referring: Al Gore’s Oscar winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. In fact, I was there that day when the school’s earth science class sponsored a public showing and did my best to correct some of the more glaring errors made by Mr. Gore, but it seems that I failed in my task.
To this day, the indoctrination continues to warp the opinions of children too young to understand the science or politics behind AGW and who only care about the cute, cuddly polar bears having to swim 50 or more miles between melting ice flows just to stay alive.
Recently, the American Institute for Public Service, a national foundation that honors community service, recognized Cool the Earth for the efforts to educate the youth of the San Francisco Bay Area about the dangers of Global Warming. The founder of Cool the Earth, Carleen Cullen had this to say:
“What I love about working with young people is their absolute optimism,” said Cullen. “You tell them, ‘Hey, we’ve got this little problem over here with our friend, the polar bear, and with humans as well,’ and they’re not overwhelmed by it; they’re not skeptical or cynical. They just ask, ‘What can I do to fix it?’ “

P.S. I haven’t given up hope for Melissa – she is a bright kid. I am planning on making a special middle school-level presentation to help her understand both sides of the debate so she can make up her own mind. Who knows, perhaps I can shame the school into letting a skeptic have equal time.

Using rising polar bear populations to say that global warming is a farce does no service to the climate change argument. Polar Bears are more abundant because it is no longer legal to hunt them. Whether or not climate change will affect them remains to be seen.
The Polar Bear example is a bogus red herring in the climate change debate. So quit the B.S.

While your facts about not hunting them (polar bears) may be true, the youngster in question stated “THEY ARE GOING EXTINCT” …. which is untrue.
If that is one untruth being spouted by the “Warmies” then what other untruths are they telling?
It is good to unravel each lie is it not?

Sean,
You put forth a position that claims it is no longer legal to hunt polar bears, and therefore, using the recent population increase is, in your mind, a “red herring”.
Do you have facts to back that position up? How many different countries have Polar Bears? Have all these countries banned hunting outright or is some hunting still allowed? How many Polar Bear populations exist in the world and what is the total population when adding each individual population? Which population increased, and was that population still being hunted during the increase in any way? If it was, what percentage of the population has been harvested each year for say, the last 50 years? How do those numbers compare with the claims being made about decreasing population?
See Sean, some of us have questions, and they have not really been answered. Also, we know we have been presented falsified data in the past by those that want to lower standards of living to “Save the Planet”. Until you can show us exactly why the increased population is a “red herring”, most individuals will not buy it just because you claim it to be true. Where is the evidence to support your position.
If I go to US Fish and Wildlife or a lot of other sites, I find that hunting is still legal for native populations as long as they don’t “take too many to detrimentally affect the population”. So you are at least partially wrong. What else are you wrong about Sean?

When I was a kid the teacher babbled the mainstream bull about the Kennedy assassination since he had been misled and brainwashed like most were.
But hey, I found out the truth later and became a very critical person.
Children believe anything you tell them. It is most important that parents show them all sides of an issue and educate them that there ARE evil people running around (though most people are good and well meaning) and that there IS deception going on.
Of course, that GW propaganda is dangerous, no question. But this type of indoctrination is nothing new. David Icke called it the “repeater syndrome”. The brainwashed adults just repeat the bull to the children. The blind are leading the potentially blind.

I guess that we agree that the polar bear population has increased. Perhaps it doesn’t prove that CO2 global warming is a farce, but it does prove that the facts have been misrepresented and propagandized in a way that tugs at our heartstrings. Did you know that Austria has some of the strongest wildlife preservation laws in the world? They were put in place by Hitler.

This is where the PARENTS come in. If the parents are not there, then anyone can teach your child anything they want !!!!!!!! The Governemnt and “Womans Lib” has made the above possible. Brainwashing your kids from a ripe young age. Wake up PARENTS, where the hell are you ??? I’m a single parent, yet I made SURE that everything my kid knows, she learned from me, not her teachers, not the movies and not the TV. She’s 21 now, graduated Cum Laute and thanks me for being strict and always on top of her.

HOMESCHOOL HOMESCHOOL HOMESCHOOL FUCKIN HOMESCHOOL…both of my kids will never attend public school for this reason this shit started in the 90s when i was in high school i was thrown out of highschool for telling teachers they were full of it the youth of today get out of my way…youth of today there is no other way …i believe was the lyrics from from that punk band in the 90s

Funny. You speak of childhood indoctrination when your writing clearly illustrates effect of adult indoctrination.
Lets see child’s responses:

You ask a rhetorical question to which obviously answer is very hard to know. How many people drowned this summer in Florida? You don’t know? And there is an almost exact count of these — almost each one ended up in morgue or hospital, or at least reported by their families! I am quite disappointed (weak word) with this ‘article’ and will remove this site from my RSS feed. You used a famous catchy title to gain readers for your writing, but instead, you lost (at least one) reader for this website.

wfere is the ‘informed debate ‘that the world is supposed to be having,it seems like a forgone conclusion that the un will be taxing[a non- elected governance]the planet,probably to use that vast sum against us in this nwo,we had to have.i was a fervent supporter of global warming,but some of the evidence i’ve read does in fact lead me away from that stance,lets hear from both sides of the fence [pro/con global warming]then decide.i don’t want even more of my hard earned cash going to wasteful non elected representatives[tax my tyres,fuel,oil fireplace,grease]this is very likely to get out of hand,if the car companies that are asking for govt’handouts[like fredie mac]would bother to make electric cars[fueled by solar panel instilations],instead of wrecking them for profits,ie:”who killed the electric car”then maybe we can stop this pollution[to some marked extent]without just paying yet another tax,the government in australia is mooting a tax on having more than two children [sounds ominous'china'] that continues for a life time,come on peoples..wake up and smell the corruption being performed by the ones we elect/trust to do the right thing.

Actually, i just searched through my bookmarks and found 5 that are from this site, which is decent proportion given the total number of bookmarks that i have.
So i put it back on my list, but will have to watch out for writer Dee Norris. Wish there was author’s name next to article snippet on the front page…
