Resistance to them is a quantifiable force that can be crushed by the continual escalation of force.
But the escalation of force, like any other act in life, carries with it an equal and opposing reaction. The reaction in this case is that the once neutral Iraqi's are now taking sides. Predictably, they are siding against those who are using force on them.
A good example would be the recent raids or "sweeps" to find supporters of guerilla fighters. In one village, nothing was found, but in the process of finding nothing, people's homes were invaded a la SWAT tactics, the occupants flex cuffed and slammed to the ground. It is not hard to imagine that there were more than a few folks who publicly proclaimed their desire to kill and strike back at the Americans.
While I am saddened at the loss of life to my fellow soldiers, I must say that the entire operation is turning out predictably. Soldiers are not suitable for police work any more than cops are suitable for soldier work. Despite all this though, it points out a major flaw in the thinking of the police state planners and their designs on the American people.
Most people don't respond well to bullying, threats, intimidation and abuse. The major mistake that tyrants make is in believing that compliance with their use of overwhelming power to force obedience means total abdication. While not everyone has the courage to stand up directly to tyranny, many people will take a stand in their own small and simple way.
Tyrants and meddlers delude themselves into believing that, once they have squashed the spirit of a free people, they can be ruled as easily as docile farm animals. While this is true to a point, the more abject the tyranny, the more likely a revolution will occur in defiance. All it takes is pushing things to a breaking point.
Bushes plans for a police state here in America are also starting to come undone. The problem with most tyrants is that they honestly believe that they are the anointed, the one that can finally become king. Bush and his crooked pals allowed their reach to exceed their grasp.
By pushing the Patriot Act through for instance, Bush and Ashcroft honestly believed that, not only was it a done deal, but they could expand upon it. Ashcroft went on his ridiculous promotion tour to help sell Patriot Act II and wound up losing Patriot Act I. All that remains now is for this horrible bill to be swept from the annals of our legislative history and I believe it is going to happen.
I believe we will see an end to all things relating to Patriot Act and this phony war on terror because, like all tyrants, the Bush administration has become a victim of it's own propaganda. Believing that they could truly subjugate the world, they reached into Iraq and other places only to have their collective hands burned. The outcry from the war on Iraq where we will find no weapons of mass destruction, coupled with an ever mounting body toll is starting to anger the American people and cause them to question literally everything coming from the Bush administration.
Don't let the voices of the phony conservatives on the air waves fool you, they are simply too arrogant to admit or realize that they bought the big lie. I predict we will never see the likes of Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh or the bitter and ignorant Laura Ingram make any sort of apology for perpetrating the big lie.
The only thing that can possibly save Bush and his cabal of tyrants would be another major attack on the United States, something even bigger than the 9/11 attacks. |
