| Kurds. (Note: certain CIA agents knowledgeable about the circumstances disagree with that assessment). Retired Army Lt. Gen. Jay Garner is the new head of the U.S.-led interim administration in Iraq. Iraqis are insisting that they don’t want an American run administration, but the White House is pushing forward with its plan to install an American run interim government even as White House envoy Zalmay Khalilzad told Iraqi delegates at a special meeting that the United States has “no interest, absolutely no interest, in ruling Iraq. We want you to establish your own democratic system based on Iraqi traditions and values. I urge you to take this opportunity to cooperate with each other.” According to MSNBC, a “spokesman for the Iraqi National Congress (INC) said there was no formal vote but that the meeting agreed to a 13-point statement by consensus.” For those familiar with the “consensus process”, that should come as no surprise. Consensus is simply a matter of arriving at a forgone conclusion that has been decided by those in charge which is then presented to those in attendance in order for them to approve it. Now the verbal war has started against Syria – “they are harboring former top Iraqi administration people and they have WMD’s”. An oil pipeline from Iraq into Syria is no longer furnishing them with oil. There is a dispute as to whether the U.S. turned it off because of Syria’s lack of cooperation, or if it was destroyed by Iraqi soldiers. As has been shown numerous times during the last three weeks, first reports seldom give the full (or even an accurate) accounting of the events. What is evident is that Iraq is in chaos as the U.S. and British militaries struggle to protect themselves from sniper fire and suicide attacks while policing the populace that is eager to ransack and loot the opulent palaces and buildings of the former ruling regime. The Iraqis are glad to be rid of Saddam Hussein, but are not wanting the U.S. to be his replacement; however, without the crushing rule of the former dictator, there is a vacuum that is waiting to be filled. Garner says that it will take up to six months to get an interim Iraqi government up and running, and a year or more for elections. If his assessment is as accurate as the time table of Bill Clinton in Bosnia, then the Iraqi people should learn patience. Based on the full game-plan of the Bush administration, don’t expect to see the U.S. military pull out of Iraq any time soon. How this affects the American citizen on the street is what many are missing. As the Imperial American Empire is established, we should be mindful of the statements of a master of manipulation – Hermann Goering. Hitler's Reich-Marshall, speaking at the Nuremberg Trials following WWII said, “Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." It would seem that the Bush administration took a page out of German history and applied it flawlessly to the gullible American public. | Postwar Iraq By Kirt R. Poovey It is now “official”, the Iraqi government of Saddam Hussein is non-existent even though his whereabouts are not known. Apparently, he is with his WMD which have yet to be found also. However, there is a lot of dirt in Iraq and they may yet be found somewhere buried and hidden, but if he had them – and the Bush administration assured us he did – then why didn’t he use them when faced with defeat? After all, he used them against Iran during their war and he has been vilified for using them against the |
