Another Analyst predicting A MAJOR DEPRESSION

I don’t have a crystal ball, but my forecasts have been fairly accurate and quite profitable over the past few years. While 2008 has been a tough year, all signs point to 2009 being much worse. Here is what I see on the horizon for the upcoming year.
1) The stock market decline will accelerate in 2009, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping below 6,000. Extreme volatility will engulf the markets with plenty of counter-trend rallies that will be fueled by speculators “calling the bottom,” only to find a new bottom the following month.
2) Unemployment will rise dramatically as “official” statistics reach towards 10% and true unemployment rises closer to 20%.
3) Real estate prices will continue to drop as rates reset and foreclosures increase across the country. Commercial real estate will finally follow residential, as price declines accelerate due to foreclosures on shopping malls, retail outlets, office buildings, etc.

4) Bailouts will continue, with more industries lining up for government rescue packages and both the financial and auto industries returning to the trough for more of their fix. This will lead to prediction #5.
5) Deflation will subdue and the first signs of hyperinflation will appear in the back half of 2009 as the trillions in bailout dollars begin to flow into the economy. The price declines that are a result of liquidation and de-leveraging, will give way to skyrocketing prices as politicians continue trying to print and borrow our way out of bad times. This will lead to prediction #6.
6) The dollar will resume its downtrend and make new lows during the first half of 2009. This will continue throughout the year with the dollar reaching into the low 60’s as the world loses confidence in the U.S. currency and the U.S. government’s ability to repay its debt.
7) Oil will rise from current lows and find a “fair price” somewhere in the $75 – $100 range, where it will float for much of the year. This will benefit alternative energy companies, although any gains will be muted by credit contraction and the overall market decline.
Agriculture prices will return to an uptrend as declining investment and unpredictable weather patterns lead to supply shortages amidst an ever-expanding population and increase in inflation.
9) Gold will make a new all-time (nominal) high reaching a price of $1,400 or more during 2009. A panicked flight to safety could push gold towards $2,000, although the central banks will dump gold on the market or make other attempts at suppressing the price advance.
10) All of the above will lead to increased crime and civil unrest with protests in the streets, bank runs and an increased police and military presence trying to bring stability to cities.
I wish that my predictions were a bit more uplifting, but we are truly in dire straits with conditions only continuing to worsen. The United States is essentially bankrupt and running on borrowed money and borrowed time. Many Americans will be facing severe financial hardship for the first time in their lives.
The silver lining is that these conditions are necessary to shake our apathy, demand better from our government, our community and ourselves. It is tough medicine, but is a necessary prescription that will force the change that is needed in this country and the world. We have to hit rock bottom, feel hardship, liquidate excesses and rampant corruption from the system, restructure our government, economy and entire social system. It is not going to be a pleasant undertaking but I am optimistic that we will emerge with a much better world and way of life.
In the meantime, you should be doing everything you can to stay informed, protect your assets and prepare for the transition ahead. I caution my readers not to be suckered into so called “buying opportunities” as we are nowhere near the bottom and I don’t anticipate conditions will improve for at least another 3-5 years. Those with metaphysical inclinations may also be interested to know that the 3-5 year time horizon forecasts that we reach a bottom somewhere around the year 2012. Dec 21st of 2012 is the end of the long count of the Mayan calendar which started 5,125 years ago and coincides with the first time in approximately 26,000 years that the Sun will rise to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way (eye, heart, center) and the ecliptic plane. No matter your beliefs, we are in for a period of significant change that will require reflection, adjustment and adaptation to a very different world that awaits.

Well, you just can’t beat an economist with a Mayan Calender backing up his “facts”! That was hilarious. Except that I don’t believe it will come to pass. The people are already getting tired of this government. Personally, I believe that most states have already realized the federal government is going to be unable to bail them out, and so they are already removing themselves from the federal government dole by taking steps to legalize marijuana. A crop that in 1938 was the first industry promoted as a billion dollar industry. Right before Rockefeller and his goons made it illegal. Once it becomes legal, and the federal government is forced to retreat into it’s Constitutionally imposed minor position, we will realize a fantastic economic, environmentally, energy independent, and liberty enhancing revival. After all, the drug war is how the federalists were able to destroy the Constitution in the first place. It’s defeat remains the path to liberty again.

These predictions are wrong. Mr. Hamlin hasn’t right informations.
During 1st half 2009 will global launch of scientifically proved
FREE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY
Most suspect is February month or period February-June
1) Coal, gas, oil, power plant shares will collapse
2) Oil, gas, coal prices will further collapse
3) Collapse of oil prices which is 2/3 of U.S. trade balance deficit
will partially help offset strong inflationary issues of new trillions
of “emergency” dollars
4) Oil at level 100 as predict Mr. Hamlin is unrealistic
5) Gold remains riddle, another metal will red hot: NEODYMIUM (which is not tradable on
Metal Exchanges)
6) illuminati lost another chunk of their power
7) Russia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran and their currencies will collapse
Probably better bet than gold will bet on collapse of rubel or Put Options on energy shares

yes, the 2012 mayan calender thing was a nice touch. lol. goood grief, just when i thought the guy was fairly close to accurate. i don’t think the price of oil will go up anytime soon. it may go back to around $50. most of what he said seems realistic to me though. we need to be prepared and stay out of the major cities. I expect wars and terrorism to break out soon. this will allow industries to gear up against an enemy. nothing like a nice war to get the economy going again. lol.

After the new year when I return to work, the first thing I’m doing is stop my 401K input. No more. Some people may believe this is wrong, but I see no reason to send more money into a system doomed to crash. I’ll prepare for the loss but it won’t be as bad as some folks who have for years invested into this ponzi scheme. Instead I’ll be liquidating useless assets and investing in survival.
Nobody really knows what the Mayan end time really is. Maybe they just ran through the calculations and couldn’t go any further. Now wouldn’t that be a laugh if nothing happens. remember the big scare at the new millenium? I heard so much bull shit especially religious bull shit, it became a joke.

I don’t know about anybody else but we are doing our last preps NOW!
We went into town yesterday, which takes us about an hour and half to get there and the grocery store we go to has already been thinning out on the shelves. A noticable decline in the paper products such as t.p. paper and paper towels.
When starvation hits hard, along with disease….need I say more how very messy things will get for people who are not stocked up?
Thank God we began preps years ago.
This depression is not going to be like the one in the 30s. No No No! It is going to be sheer hell unleashed with mean hungry people ready to murder for a stick of gum.

December 21, 2012 is not just about the Mayan Calender… There is an time line in the pyramid at Giza that also end son that date. Astrologically speaking, December 21, 2012 we will be in direct alignment with the center of the Milky way gallaxy which most likely will cause major Earth movements…According to numerous scientists,Sun flares will be at a peak at that time as well…. There is a difference between being prepared for problems and paranoid. People are so worried about 2012, they are going to miss out on 2009. If you live in fear today and get hit by a bus tomorrow, 2012 will be of no consequence. Wake up, turn off the news, and live today. Remember Y2K? That was a waste of time to worry about. Remember, they told America to duct tape their windows to stop small pox? Shoe bombs on planes? Wake up America…you are being controllled by fear!

Comments to this article so far haven’t been complementary to the American public.
Still, the article is consistent with other credible sources. Things ARE getting worse, and with Obama’s plan consisting (mainly) of spending much more….. it doesn’t look good (think people… borrowed money needs to be paid back WITH INTEREST).
Hope for the best….prepare for the worst (and don’t buy into anything politicians say until our methods of electing then are radically different).
