Arctic Ice Grows 30 Per Cent In a Year
Predictions of “ice free” summer for first time in history completely debunked

Alarmist scientists who predicted that the North Pole could be “ice free” this summer as a result of global warming have been embarrassed after it was revealed that Arctic ice has actually grown by around 30 per cent in the year since August 2007.
Back in June, numerous prominent voices in the scientific community expressed fears of a mass melting of the polar ice caps, including David Barber, of the University of Manitoba, who told National Geographic Magazine, “We’re actually projecting this year that the North Pole may be free of ice for the first time [in history].”
“This summer’s forecast—and unusual early melting events all around the Arctic—serve as a dire warning of how quickly the polar regions are being affected by climate change,” adds the article.

In February, Dr. Olav Orheim, head of the Norwegian International Polar Year Secretariat, told Xinhua, “If Norway’s average temperature this year equals that in 2007, the ice cap in the Arctic will all melt away, which is highly possible judging from current conditions.”
As per usual, the reality has failed to match the hype of the climate doomsayers.
According to collated data from the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and the University of Illinois, Arctic ice extent was 30 per cent greater on August 11, 2008 than it was on the August 12, 2007. This is a conservative estimate based on the map projection.
Blue pixels represent increased ice coverage over the North Pole in the year since August 2007.
The video below highlights the differences between those two dates,” reports The Register. “As you can see, ice has grown in nearly every direction since last summer – with a large increase in the area north of Siberia. Also note that the area around the Northwest Passage (west of Greenland) has seen a significant increase in ice. Some of the islands in the Canadian Archipelago are surrounded by more ice than they were during the summer of 1980.”
But what of the Antarctic down south? Figures tell us that ice coverage in the year since August 2007 has grown by nearly one million square kilometers.
As The Register article notes, “The Arctic did not experience the meltdowns forecast by NSIDC and the Norwegian Polar Year Secretariat. It didn’t even come close. Additionally, some current graphs and press releases from NSIDC seem less than conservative. There appears to be a consistent pattern of overstatement related to Arctic ice loss.”
A general cooling trend across the planet is now clearly apparent as sunspot activity, the main driver of climate change, dwindles to almost nothing.
As we reported last week, A top observatory that has been measuring sun cycles for over 200 years predicts that global temperatures will drop by two degrees over the next two decades as solar activity grinds to a halt and the planet drastically cools down, potentially heralding the onset of a new ice age.
While the mass media, Al Gore and politicized bodies like the IPCC scaremonger about the perils of global warming and demand the poor and middle class pay CO2 taxes, both hard scientific data and circumstantial evidence points to a clear cooling trend.
How man-made global warming advocates will spin this one remains to be seen – maybe they will just continue to adopt their current tactic by claiming that any geological or weather event whatsoever, be it hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts or floods, temperature increase or decrease, and even a 30 per cent growth of the polar ice cap – is a result of that evil life-giving gas that we exhale – CO2.

The ’scientists’ that proclaimed the lie about melting KNOW that the rebuttal will get near zero space in the zionist controlled mass media, and that is all they care about.
Edward Bernays taught that propaganda shouldn’t care about THE TRUTH, but about the perception of ‘the truth’ in the mind of the sheeple. Global warming is a cult, like the belief system held by most people that obsess about UFO’s etc (or even, sad to say, the belief system held by most ‘activists’ that fret about the NWO).
A genuine scientist can hold a genuine interest in the global patterns of weather systems on the Earth, and their relationship to various factors, including Man. His/her scientific curiosity would be typified by a neutral and dispassionate exploration of facts and theories.
Cults are typified by dogma, meaningless enthusiasm/fears, and a clear perversion of higher concepts into braindead ‘gossip’. In the UK, we have nut-cases called ‘trainspotters’. They make a cult of the UK railway system, but their thoughts do not alter the validity or realities of the actual rail system, or its rolling stock.
In other words, large numbers of Humans (some of whom may be highly intelligent) can all devote extraordinary amounts of brain power to a subject, but do it in such a way that their mental processes are utterly wasted, or worse, have a clearly illogical consequence.
Edward Bernays preached the identification and exploitation of such flawed mass mental processes. L. Ron Hubbard created his ‘religion’ of scientology on the back of exactly such observations. Indeed the cult of global warming can be near perfectly compared to scientology (although for many converts, scientology is established enough now to have no more significance than any other established religion, meaning that THEY cannot be fairly called cultists).
The irony is that the cult of global warming resembles the vast majority of superstitious religious beliefs seen in ‘primitive’ Man, or in more primitive times. Just as people have been, on many occasions, persuaded to vast vast amounts of their time and energy
‘ensuring’ the Sun appeared again, or that Summer returned once more, the high priests of ‘global warming’ demand the sacrifice of almost everything to guarantee tomorrow will have the same type of weather as today. As always, the real game is giving the ‘priest’ class maximum control over the lives, minds, and wealth of the sheeple.

VEIN!!! I also doubt the global warming hype but it is BECAUSE scientists have become politicized prostitutes pimped out by special interest groups on both sides of this argument. The payoff is grant money (LOTS OF IT) and donations. Neither you nor I can really KNOW the truth because the “genuine scientist” you refer to is impossible to spot in this sea of charlatans. Please understand that science is imperfect on its best day and often people use “scientific results” like a drunk uses a lamp post…more for support than illumination.

Can someone really think that all the pollutants made in our world the last 100 or so years have done no damage to our planet??? I think some people are just too weak to admit that they are wrong about something, Anthony being one of them.
‘Man Made’ climate change is nothing more than a tax rising, red tape pushing control mechanism of a scam, pushed by control freaks in the US AND OTHER GOVERNMENTS.
If the PRIVATE central banks weren’t starting a ‘carbon credits’ trading exchange system to manipulate and profit from and all life on earth wasn’t carbon based, then I might believe the myth that man is causing climate change. I for one am more likely to believe that there is a global warming phenomenon. Having a formal education (fire science) on how sensitive the atmosphere really is (i.e. the ban of certain Halon extinguishers and specific Freon refrigerant), I could see how the scientists could be correct on most of it.
Now, could such data be manipulated and used to support a less than honorable agenda? Hell ya! Does that debunk the data for me, not really. I am a staunch supporter and follower of Alex and friends, however I feel this story may have been only a half-truth, since of course preceding the “record freeze” there was a record melt. This is not to say that the “records” only go back a short time as per satellite imaging compared to the existence of polar ice caps.
Chemtrails are also phenomenon that had me wondering if there was a government cover-up about global warming. If chemtrails were in actuality a “global cooling” mechanism the reason for such secrecy would make sense. They couldn’t admit its use or subsequently have to admit evidence and belief themselves that global warming was actually occurring.

Man-made global warming is still a theory. But by introducing small amounts of chemicals and even organic agents into an ecosystem can drastically alter it so we should proceed with caution. Stand next to some traffic, breathe deeply, and then complain about the polar ice caps. Makes no sense.

Using the argument that the AGW cultists used late last summer when the ice was at a 30 year low (reported as the least amount of ice on record, falsely implying the least amount of ice in history) then this 30% increase in ice over one year surely is a sign of the world heading towards catastrophic cooling is it not?
I shall explain. As the AGW cult warned, the decrease in ice meant that there was less ice surface to reflect heat back into space and therefore the melted sea ice water (being darker) would absorb more heat and INCREASE the melting… an on-going tragedy in the making apparently. Every year there was to be less and less ice until there would be NO ice at all in the summer, killing all the polar bears.
IF their argument was valid for decreasing ice, surely the counter-case is also valid. More ice = more heat reflected, less heat absorbed and therefore more and more ice. This should lead to continuous cooling and a severe ice age covering the agricultural lands and cities destroying all world trade and devastating humanity everywhere.
I have one teeny weeny problem with this. Using their theory, HOW did less ice last year make more ice this year? According to the hysterical alarmists, there is no mechanism for reversing temperature other than reducing CO2 and yet the global increases in CO2 has continued unabated.
So, what gives? From the point of view of the AGW cultists, what mechanism is in play that allows for global warming to switch to global cooling WITHOUT reducing CO2? And why is this mechanism MISSING from the IPCC endorsed computerised climate models?
No, it couldn’t be, could it? Could the AGW cultist’s theories be…………….WRONG???? GASP, SHOCK, HORROR!!!
It just so happens that real climatologists have discovered and have known for a long time what mechanism triggers ice ages and ends them too. Guess what? CO2 is NOT the trigger!

Hi Vierotchka, thin it may be (is it?), but apparently it wasn’t there at all last year. Either the 30% increase or the 1,000,000 sq km of it in the antarctic. Mm, interesting thought… a million square km of “thin” ice being “insignificant”. In a sense though, given our knowledge of the cycles of warming and cooling that the Earth has been through in the last few hundred years I guess it is.
We also now find that temperatures have actually been falling since 2002. How insignificant do you think that might be?
Probably insignificant enough not to stop the “carbon taxes”. Incidentally, who do you think will gain financially through the carbon taxes? Don’t waste too much time thinking about that one. Its insignificant.

I have some ice in my freezer. I can pack it up and send it to the poles. If everyone in the world did this we could build up the polar ice in no time… especially if you buy one of those really powerful freezers with a really low star rating- c’mon people we can solve it from a grass roots level!!

Growth of the ice cap? This story is missing one important measurement – the thickness of the ice.
The ice that was lost was thick – ancient ice is gone and now there is a thin one year expansion of thin ice. This is hardly building up a glacier of ice.
The quantity of ice is a fraction of what it was.
The good news though is this ice will reflect more sun back into space and the warmth of the rays will not go into heating the water.

I live in California where there has been the driest summer in years. There also have been chemtrails that grid the sky at least once a week this whole year.
I would personally rather deal with “Global Warming”, “Global Cooling”, man made or not than have governments and corporations testing weather manipulation across the planet. Who gives these people the right to do this?
I believe in human ingenuity and the fact that humans have adapted well to almost every climate on Earth. The consensus is not in, obviously. We should all direct our energy on this subject toward stopping corporate and government weather manipulation.

Can you not see the comparison between the two and the increase in ice coverage which is clearly shows? It’s the same type of image that is used to “prove” global warming!

One last thing, we barely get snow anymore? Are you kidding me, we had the biggest snowfall since 1978 past winter in the Capital region and for the whole of Ontario and Quebec.
If that doesn’t dissuade you: just last night, we had 32 centimeters of snow in Ottawa. To make sure everyone understands that’s just about 13 inches of snow in 24 hours.

As much as I want to believe that “climate change” is a fabrication, I do believe that human beings are damaging this planet, through unsustainable lifestyle activities.
However, I do agree that there is alot of scaremongering that goes on and we need to weigh up all scientific findings objectively, without agenda!
With regard to the ice caps, I think this article is mistaken. The article below (ref: AFP – NASA) says that it is the area of “perrenial” ice that is reducing in size & that this is what we should be concerned about.

That NASA article is out of date. The findings from the Register’s article indicates the following, and I quote “below shows that Arctic ice extent was 30 per cent greater on August 11, 2008 than it was on the August 12, 2007″. Whatever findings were released by NASA came before the disappearance of sunspots in May of this year, which is roughly around the time the earth’s temperature according to the University of Alabam’s temperature graphs, indicated that global temperatures have begun to drop.
I agree with you however, that we are having a profound effect on this planet through our deforestation and polluting of the environment via real pollutants such as Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, SO2 and so on… but not CO2. I will never be convinced of that, the science is nowhere near concrete. HOWEVER, if someone in these forums can come forward with relevant proof that CO2 is the culprit, I am more than open minded to check it out. But i’m not gonna give credibility to findings coming from a guy who’s usage of electricity per year exceeds 130 000 Kilowatts for his mansion alone. (Gore).

We are only looking at the topological map….the ice sheet has been thinning consistently and is verified by ships measuring the thickness of the ice shelf. However I don’t believe man is the cause of the warming trend with his CO2 emissions. When Mt Pinatubo can emit as much pollution in one day of eruption as tens of thousands of years of mankind……we aren’t as important as we think. Our footprint is real, but it is being over stated to win elections and sell newspapers.
What we have to this planet will come back to haunt us in other ways. We have wiped out 90% of the species on this planet with our agriculture. We have changed the infra red signature of the planet by changing the plant species. This species extinction event will be recorded in the soil for future generations to see. We’ve already done it, it isn’t something we can prevent because it already happened. How will it hurt us? Who knows. We have left ourselves vulnerable to a blight or disease. A corn, wheat or rice blight for instance. We have become so heavily dependent on a few species that we have cultivated and fertilized……..that when one of them is wiped out by some new strain of virus or insect…..we will lose a significant fraction of our food supply. This could lead to war…..even nuclear war. Where we need to focus environmental policy is where it can make a difference. We have clear data on species extinction. Our efforts should be directed towards crop diversity. We are hooked on corn and rice. If we lose one……we will be in a real world of hurt…..and this sort of stuff comes on fast….unlike global warming which takes decades, a crop failure would have immediate impact world wide. Why would a new bug come along that eats corn? Gee….I don’t know….maybe because we carpeted North America with the stuff and bugs gotta eat too.

If the Arctic Ice increased by 30% from Aug 2007 to Aug 2008, how come the top picture – side by side 2007 and 2008 – doesn’t show it? Isn’t that the reason for the picture? Most of what I assume is the Arctic appears, in the picture, to be maintaining temperatures ranging from 60 to 100 degrees F. According to the chart, yellow is 40 and blue is below and I see almost no yellow or blue – so what is this a picture of?

Its actually a picture of sea ice coverage. The colours show the various levels of coverage in each area. So for example a 1 square kilometer area may be half covered in ice and half open ocean, and this is marked as and orange colour.
This is why these liars made this mistake in the first place. They assumed that every coloured pixel meant that that area was totally covered in ice. Now that you know what the colours mean, have another look at the maps. You will see that the relative areas of 90-100 percent ice coverage DECREASED. Thus there was less actual ice in the later map!
Everyone involved knew this, from the original author all the way to this Watson idiot – how do I know? Easy, if you get hold of the ORIGINAL comparison image (not the one they shrank) you will clearly see the title and the key that these liars didn’t want you to see!

I can’t say one way or the other if there is in fact going to be global warming or global cooling on neither, but I can say this. I look out at my pond and some mornings it has ice on it and then in the afternoon it is gone. There this silly little scientific fact that ice freezes and thaws at a certain temperature. So how can you look at new ice growth and think, all is well. It could all be gone in a week, or double in size again. As has been stated, it is the thickness that would matter in this debate, not the square footage.

Global warming is a real, but normal, part of the earth’s (and solar system’s) climate dynamics. I’ve lived in northern California for 34 years, or nearly half my life, and I can attest to the fact that summers here have gotten perceptibly warmer in the last decade. People in these parts started installing air conditioners after living for decades without one. The trend seems to have reversed now and things are cooling down. In the process we are getting some weird weather here (late frosts, winter temps swinging back and forth between warm & cold). That may be part of the effect of the climate pendulum reversing and swinging back.
I’m not so disturbed by the global warming hysteria (and the hysteria is on both sides of the debate!) if it means people being more aware of their consumption habits. Whether we are in a warming or cooling trend, it is imperative that we stop paving over our farmlands, wetlands, and woodlands; that we stop blowing up mountains in West Virginia to feed our demand for cheap energy; that we stop dumping toxic effluvia into our waterways… I could go on, but you get the picture!

I agree, the only issue being we say summer is late this year! It is hot for this month. What we should understand is that the planet does not change per our calender month system. it changes when it is right for it to change itself . We say something is wrong because it is a short time out by our timekeeping. It is right when it is right not when we say so. Parts of Europe were once tropical. Did our evolution and fires bring about the change. Maybe methane discharge off the dinosaurs is to blame. Either way i’m glad they didn’t discover taxation as a way to stop the change or to halt the extinction, otherwise the world might now be a better place. But keep in mind we do still have a few latent dinosaurs in our goverments.

It’s pretty basic stuff. Warming melts ice into the ocean cooling the currents
that distribute warm air around the world, triggering global chills.
Whatever the causes of climate change, only the “interaction model” should be seriously considered. Sunspots to CO2 from all sources and everything between has to be taken into account, putting the whole debate into the chaos realm.
Too bad it’s become an axe grinding fest!
