With slick marketing techniques and an attractive website, biotech company StemLifeLine is peddling a service that offers to transform "spare embryos" (as though they were car parts) into stem cell lines that clients "may one day use to create personalized therapies for themselves and their families."

The mad scientists at StemLifeLine claim to have successfully completed pilot studies that validate their service offering, but since no therapeutic application of embryonic stem cells has yet to be found anywhere else in the world, it seems very unlikely. But this hasn't deterred them in any way from their money-making sales pitch. Today unused frozen embryos are donated to "research," and in doing said research the embryos have to be destroyed, given up for "adoption," or simply discarded. "Discarded" means destroyed and destroyed means — in the case of human life — murdered. StemLifeLine would like to make some money off this whole sickening process.

At www.stemlifeline.com, the FAQ page admits: "the stem cells most commonly used in therapy are adult stem cells." Also, they will not guarantee that they can create a stem cell line, but would refund the fee, amount never mentioned, if the client's more than 10 frozen embryos can't be cannibalized. But who's to know?

Even if the use of embryonic stem cells mimicked the success doctors have found with adult stem cells (see: Latest Assault on the Preborn), it would still be a form of medical cannibalism, wherein these tiny pre-born lives would be sacrificed as a means to an end.

What kind of medical ethics have we come to accept? The wholesale slaughter of infants in various ways means that Americans are willing to turn a blind eye to a moral outrage. And it's companies like StemLifeLine that contribute to the anesthetizing of people's consciences with their pseudo-scientific conclusions packaged in pink and white. Caveat emptor.
