Nov 30th Donation Day Success Lifts Ron Paul Well Over $10 Mil

The latest mass donation day success for the limited government GOP candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex) swept him well over the $10 million mark and raised more than $500,000 in the process. These are strong numbers indeed for a campaign that is still widely referred to by the mainstream media as “second tier.”

While some in the mainstream media have tried to downplay the November 30th fund-raising drive, the relatively massive amounts of money raised by the Jeffersonian conservative are far in excess of what is being raised elsewhere within the GOP from smaller donors.

What is happening, therefore, within the Ron Paul campaign is historical, a political event that, were it occuring for any other campaign, would regularly be front page news. But because so many entrenched political interests fear (unecessarily) the results of the Ron Paul campaign, the news and analysis about these results is not nearly so evident.

Nonetheless, the results continue to grow louder and stronger. An upcoming mass donation day on December 16th should yield bountiful results, in the millions, an even sure to galvanize the press into more coverage than yesterday's donation drive - one organized by Trevor Lyman of November 5th “Money Bomb” fame. The November 5th Ron Paul donation day raised over $4 million.

Ironically, even with so much funding flowing in, some supporters worry that the critical month of January will see a slowdown in Ron Paul's funding - as donors are stretched between holidays and prior giving. (See related article, Ron Paul Donation Dilemma?)

Nonetheless, it is quite likely that the Ron Paul campaign could end the quarter with $13 million or more, a stunning showing for a presidential candidate that started with little money in the bank and a media profile that marginalized him as a “kook” when it bothered to cover him at all.

At the time, few news organizations covered Ron Paul, nor took him seriously. One notable exception was Free Market News Network, which has covered this history-making candidacy from the very beginning. Ron Paul’s candidacy is a testament to the power of ideas, the promise of the American republic and the courage, humility and intellectual wattage of the candidate himself. The campaign may turn; Ron Paul may not be president, but by any measure his campaign is already a success and millions have been reacquainted with the wondrous ideas on which “these united States” were founded.
