Trevor Lyman Set up Ron Paul National Agency Biz?

Is the man behind the November 5th Ron Paul GOP presidential campaign "mass donation day," Trevor Lyman, thinking of setting up a formal, national marketing effort - a kind of consulting business - to support the "Ron Paul Revolution?" The idea might be to set up an agency that would direct funds to Ron Paul oriented political operatives and freedom-oriented operations on an ongoing basis. Within the larger perspective, what Lyman would be doing is creating for Ron Paul-oriented politicos is a kind of “Howard Dean approach” to future campaigns.

FMNN explained the possibilities this way in an article in mid October:

“The Democratic presidential contender in the last presidential cycle, Howard Dean, built a massive fund-raising and electoral effort using the Internet-oriented data base he amassed. The results can be seen at the web site 'Democracy for America' which has successfully endorsed and helped fund what would seem to be socialist-oriented candidates – levelers - at all levels throughout the nation. The group even sponsors a DFA Training Academy to solicit further donations and spread the word."

What would drive a Lyman consulting and fund-raising agency (for-profit or not?). According to sources, cash and a donor e-mail list. Lyman is said to be mulling how he might use a steady flow of donations – and the emails that he’s retaining from his various e-campaigns – to keep the momentum of the Ron Paul campaign going long after the presidential campaign is decided.

According to a recent report at NolanChart.com, Lyman is in touch with candidates regarding several Ron Paul oriented political campaigns: “Dean Santoro … a candidate in Florida's 21st district … and Ted Terbolizard … a candidate in California's 4th district … Both candidates have contacted Lyman about doing fundraising for their campaigns.”

But Lyman, a skilled marketer, may be thinking not just of fund-raising but of creating a national movement - and full-time business - that will either build around Ron Paul's Jeffersonian-conservative campaign, or work independently to create a separate entity with similar values and dedicated to a similar result.

Lyman is a music marketer and has plenty of experience in gaining publicity via various outlets for a variety of music-oriented clients. Lyman has apparently, in fact, moved to New Hampshire, and it is there that he might begin to build what he may hope will become a national operation. (Could there be a liaison with the New Hampshire “Free State” movement?)

Of course, Lyman may have some competition for his vision, in that it has been mentioned that New Hampshire is a likely destination for Ron Paul himself, should his Texas seat be endangered by a determined Republican drive to oust him - revenge for returning the Goldwater wing of the party to prominence.

It is the Ron Paul campaign that controls the largest donor list, obviously, and this list, with all its details, is the likely the most valuable asset of all, whether Ron Paul wins or loses the presidential election. Chances are those directly associated with the campaign are thinking along the same lines as Lyman, and some others as well.

Likely, there will be infighting, but that's how movements grow. Barry Goldwater, and his small-government approach to politics led eventually to the election of Ronald Reagan. While Reagan's accomplishments are certainly debatable, his rhetoric encouraged a limited-government approach that persists to this day, one that Ron Paul is building upon, and Trevor Lyman, too.

Ron Paul: The Dean Precedent for a New Political Wing

Whether GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul wins the election his party’s nomination, or the presidency itself, he is likely amassing one of the best data bases ever of free-market names, those who have contributed to his campaign and are willing to fund other candidates running on a Ron Paul style platform.

In fact, this data base may spark a resurgence, nation wide of the kind of Jeffersonian conservatism platform – anti-war and anti-big government – on which Ron Paul has run with increasing success thus far. “The fund raising, straw polls and debates themselves show that there is considerable receptivity to his message,” says one source close to the campaign.

This source and others add that one likely option for Ron Paul is to utilize his increasingly powerful database on a state by state basis to build up funding for candidates with backgrounds and ideologies similar to his.

Sources close to the campaign believe Ron Paul will be in a position to set up the same sort of effort, only one that would focus on “Liberty for America” rather than “Democracy for America.”
