Economic worry hits Wall St

The S&P 500 stock index slid 1 percent on Monday as worries about the housing slump's impact on the economy rattled investors.

The Nasdaq was also down more than 1 percent.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was down 118.60 points, or 0.89 percent, at 13,221.25. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was down 14.69 points, or 1.00 percent, at 1,453.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was down 36.11 points, or 1.37 percent, at 2,599.63.
