Morrissey: Los Angeles a 'Police State'

Aversion | January 6 2006

Morrissey has no love for Los Angeles' police force.

In an online interview conducted by True-to-You.net, a Morrissey fan site, the Mozfather revealed that, although he’s made Los Angeles his surrogate home in the States, he’s a little uneasy around the town’s police force.

“As stunningly beautiful as Los Angeles is, it is also essentially a police state,” he said.

He continued on to praise Rome’s police force’s passive attitude in law enforcement, contrasting it to the ever-present appearance of cops in Los Angeles. Morrissey joins a long list – African-Americans, Latinos, whites, Asians, the middle class, tourists, other Los Angeles Police – who hold a little suspicion for City of Angels’ men in blue.
