Israeli soldiers have sound weapons

UK Inquirer | June 6 2005

THE ISRAELI army has unveiled a new crowd-dispersal device which emits painful bursts of sound at a special frequency to help break up demonstrations.
We've met people who do the same sort of thing.

Israeli military officials have confirmed soldiers used the "nonlethal" tactic in the West Bank village of Bilin, to break up a crowd soldiers thought were turning ugly.

According to Aljazeera, here, the device was stored on a truck about a quarter mile from the demonstration.

Its eye [shurely ear] witness said that the vehicle emitted several bursts of sounds, about one minute in length each time.

The sound was not loud, but for some reason people covered their ears and grabbed their heads in discomfort. This sounds like the new Geri Halliwell single to us, but was surprisingly predicted in a Kate Bush number "Experiment IV", here. And then there's Jericho.
