Associated Press | June 15 2005
PALATKA, Fla. - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the death of a 33-year-old man who stopped breathing after he was zapped with a stun gun.
A deputy sheriff says he was responding to a noise complaint when he saw a man run through a glass window in Broward County north of Miami.
The man then allegedly ran back into the house and went through another window.
The deputy found Michael Anthony Edwards naked and bleeding behind his house. Edwards was allegedly trying to climb a six-foot fence.
Two deputies shocked Edwards with their Taser stun guns, but they had no effect.
A police report says that Edwards fell to his knees when he was shocked a second time.
Witnesses told police that Edwards had been drinking and using drugs.
