Bush: All options open regarding Iran

President Bush has implied the possibility of future military action against the Islamic Republic by saying all options are on the table regarding Iran.

Speaking before a scheduled meeting with Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert, President Bush told reporters, "My position hasn't changed and that is that all options are on the table," a standard phrase that does not exclude the use of force, according to AFP.

His remarks come in the wake of criticism from Iran that the US has refused to abandon outright its plans for a possible attack against the Islamic Republic, which Washington alleges seeks a nuclear arsenal.

Referring to Israel, which has raised the alarm over the possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran, Bush said, "As a strong ally, I view that as a serious threat."

However, Bush suggested he will also consider talks in resolving the ongoing dispute over Iran's nuclear program, saying he hoped to eventually end the row with Tehran “diplomatically".
