Iran: Army will respond to any threat

Second-in-command of the Iranian Army has warned that the Islamic Republic will confront all enemies who threaten its national security.

Brigadier Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani said on Thursday in Tehran that the Army is always ready to defend the country.

"Iranians are peace-loving, intelligent and principle-oriented people and enjoy the support of both Muslim and freedom-seeking nations," the senior Army commander warned.

Ashtiani, who was speaking at a ceremony to mark the Liberation of Khorramshahr, added that Iran emerged victorious against Iraq in the imposed war mainly because of the unity and devotion of the Iranian armed forces.
