India’s corporate media is an extension of the Indian state. It will not report anything which the state will never allow it to report. The millions of people who were killed in Gujrat in the 1990s – Hindu-Muslim communal violence was under-reported and downplayed as much as possible. The Indian government does not want the world to know such embarrassing details. The corporate media is not allowed to report about Kashmir and other seceessionist movements. The Indian corporate media reports everything after receiving a notification or press advice from the government. India wants to portray the image of a peaceful and progressive country. Not the fact that the country is going to fall apart and there will be hundreds of independent states. The days of the Indian empire are at an end.
