Australians ill-prepared for world economy: Murdoch

Media magnate Rupert Murdoch said on Sunday that Australians were poorly prepared to live in a global economy and may “learn the hard way” what it means.
Speaking amid the most severe economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s, Murdoch cited the recent fluctuations in the value of the Australian dollar as evidence of Australia vulnerability to world markets.
The rise of China and India as economic superpowers, each with a new, vast and ambitious middle class, posed special challenges for Australia, and the country would need to adapt.
“Over the next 30 years or so, two or three billion people will join this new global middle class,” Murdoch said at the Sydney Opera House. “The world has never seen this kind of advance before. These are people who have known deprivation.

“These are people who are intent on developing their skills, improving their lives and showing the world what they can do. And they live right in Australia’s neighborhood.”
The Aussie has lost 15 percent this month as investors unwound carry trades and dumped commodity currencies on expectations that a global recession would hurt demand for natural resources. Australia is a big exporter of commodities.
On Sunday, the Assistant Treasurer Chris Bowen said confidence globally should get a lift once the U.S. presidential election was out of the way on Tuesday, including in the Australian economy.

Yeah Rupert is a little weed, What we said at Sydney opera house is totally true. But actions speak louder than words.
His fox news network is total lieing industrial military complex scum! He is a total contradictory wanker hell say one thing in one country and somthing totally opisate in the other.
But yeah when 46% of Australians get more in social benifets that they pay in tax we are in truble.
And he is spot on when he says we need to stop relying on government. But we also need to stop relying on multinational corporations.
We need to start relying on our Farmers to feed us not the rest of the world, we need to trade any surplus production and we need to ditch the RBA and print our own dept free money.

Marco – I couldnt agree with you more. Australia is over populated by uneducated and unaware dead shits, who only care about the local pub ( bar for our American friends ) & the footy (football). The vast majority couldnt give a shit about anything the government does, except for when they allow the banks to up the mortgage interest rates. We have 14% of the population who live on welfare, some with no intention of ever working. And a percentage of the population blame every other race group in Australia, even though they are a minority for causing the issues . We allow racist laws such as the Aboriginal Intervention, which has allowed the government to imprison black people in their homes, and control their finances. Yet the problems of alcoholism, child and spousal abuse and gambling are just a prevelant poor white areas.
Not only this but the last government went on national TV and stated that African immigrants weren’t integrating into “Australian society”, the end result spurred a racist backlash against the Sudinease community that lasted months. Australia is ripe for the New World Order because the average dumb Aussie believes any crap the government and TV come up with Period!

I think there needs to be translation here. When Murdoch says “new middle-class”, he really means people with no rights working for longer than ever before and for less money than ever. People who will have no money to travel. Everyone knows the gap between rich and poor is just getting larger due to the global pyramid scheme, otherwise known as the economy.

I read that in many Australian cities, there are shortages of high skilled workers (university level graduates), but that the employers will not consider anyone from outside the city, because they are not “local”. So, the side effect is that many Australians are forced to work abroad (in the UK and USA).

Nice one Jim, i agree with you 100%. I was so fed up with Australia’s caveman culture that i had to come to Egypt to finish my degree (and learn Arabic at the same time). Its just pubs, clubs, footy, BBQ’s, Girls, Drugs, and shopping!
Australia is the most awesome country to live in geographically but the people are living in their own fantastic dreamworld,! Their conscious awareness of the world is akin to that of a ‘goldfish bowl’.
I love my country but im praying for this economic crisis to hit us hard. I am already well prepared, so think it is high time that Aussie’s receive a reality check after 17 years of economic growth! I would much prefer to be in a poor society among honest, politically aware, hardworkers than a bunch of spoilt, rock ape consumers motivated by self gratification and promiscuous sex. The issue has been people with trades such as electricians, mechanics and fitters etc are becoming rare. There was a big boom in I.T in Australia and the big companies conspired with the Universities to create a surplus of I.T people, so companies could hire them at below market value. As such they (students) all turned away from trades, engineering and science in search of a quick buck in I.T. and got duped.
I’m not sure what you mean by “not local”, that really dosent happen in the cities in Australia because there is little difference in culture between any area. We really have universal outlook on life across the country, sometimes it can get more political in country towns I guess. But that would be the same anywhere in the world.
They are still very racist here though they claim over wise, and you will have a tough time getting accepted socially if your not white European. Because of the racial stigmatizim a lot of the immigrant groups here end up staying separate, as when they first arrive their is usually a wave of disapproval in the public. It’s important to remember Australia had a “White Australia” policy until 1971 and listed the Aboriginal people as part of the Flura an Fawna and thus animals. These attitudes still lay just under surface waiting to be stirred up by what ever leaders have a cause.

Yep I agree here – I have often thought of moving to South America, my wife has been there and says the people have more awareness and heart that the average Aussie could ever muster. Even the small children understand politics, care about their community and work their asses off. I cant stand young people in Australia today, they go around in mobs beating up other kids and even adults. And then uploading the shit to youtube to get a laugh, and if you try to discipline them the government steps in and stays your hand??.

I’m in my first year apprenticeship for carpentry, and I am not surprised why their is a lack of skilled construction workers here, because our pay is pretty terrible (until you finish your apprenticeship). I mean, you can look at people in other industries whom gain much more money than you do, and it makes me all the more appealing. But, luckily I hate the idea of being stuck behind a desk.

Australia might be a raciest country. But it’s not the Australians who are racist; it is the immigrants that come to our shores that bring the racism. It is our media that constantly try’s to fire up the different communities against each other that produce racisms (divide and concor). Australia tried to get all different races from all over the world to come together and live as one, but when they come to our country they live in there minority groups buying out entire suburb’s, and practice there religion witch bread’s racism. Australian loves New Zealand because they choose to assimilate. They work hard like other ozzie’s. And don’t cry racism ever.
Aboriginals have hade a bad run in Australia and our government should be ashamed.
But these day’s they have as much opportunity as someone coming from over seas.

Australia is a relatively new country and have no real culture so when people from other country’s move here and want to bring there cultural with them it’ pisses us off. We want to develop our own culture, not be given someone else’s. right on mike i’m a kiwi that’s abit of a 2 edged sword most kiwis see great prosperity in aussie (the west island, if you consider how welcome kiwis are in oz) if you’ve ever been to an international airport in oz kiwis queue with aussies. the global elite gave the middle class the world over the chance to tick up thier dreams with every intention of pulling the rug from under their feet. i last went to aussie for a week in 2001 and, it was odd it did seem the great white country its viewed as. here in nz its so different culturally yes there are indians around many of them more kiwi than i (i’m an immigrant by the way 21out 25 years of my life) chinese, many different island culutres, and not to mention the copious amounts of brits, but we seem to get along quite well this is most noticed in the cities which is true with most nations bigorty thrives in the wops. the saddest myth i’d heard about australia before i ever went there was that the only aboriginies you ever see would be rolling around pissed as in the middle of the day in front of a church and, i was gutted to see that when i went there, these kind of people in nz are every body sure plenty of whities maori asians and whoevers. its election time here in nz some of the issues are of course the economy emmigration crime and poverty/slash shit money for work. emmigration is a huge issue here apparently 35000 kiwis have gone to oz for a better life but why. is it because more people haved gained the skills to do this, is it because kiwis’ that go to oz get hired because we are used to working so much harder to get ahead, or is it that aussie plain and simple is just so much better to live in. time for replies.

it’s kinda guttins to see that most of the aussies on this site see their country going the way of nz in the not to distant future, but unfortunately thats the plan poverty for all, the nwo does;nt want us to have the potential economic power and disposible income to oppose thier agenda. aussie has been rich for quite some time now, but with a guy like ruppert controlling the media thier and in america, this could only have been the outcome. i hope you were one of the smarter ones, has a good job no debts no mortgage and stands a chance of living a life with choices. although due to the redistribution of wealth globally , aussie has a chance of doing quite well 40% of global uranium trade 500+ of iron ore for export and domestic, off shore oil( maybe be more in nz than oz but we seem so close we are the next eu so to speak) australia could be self sufficient if need be , but thats not the plan. the goal is to level the world off economically shitty wages globally while corps rake megabucks, the goal is control of the world and empire unprecedented in history global no enemies no opposition. the new dark ages are upon us we need to resist, get out of debt quick, when these loan sharks collapse they are absorbed by bigger loan sharks and the more ruthless it becomes , it may well degrade to the point were you are imprisoned for default on debt and you may have to pay with time and these terms will be oppressive, unlike wrongful conviction victories 200,000 grand for a wrongfull year in a cage, you owe it to yourself and the dream of being free. expect to be paying your debt at average wage if this happens. nuff said stay in the black and don’t look back. fascism sux now is the time to cut yourself away from debt, sure you can’t avoid teh bills but don’t ever get a pay cheque away getting yourself zeroed. viva la revolucion!!

First through the white Australia Policy and then the use of un-fair linguistic testing. For instance demanding that an African immigrant take an exam in French, while allowing and Irish immigrant to speak English. Just recently again the last government attempted to re-instate such lingual test for Arab immigrants, and they also tried to get public support for reducing African immigration by claiming that Sudanese refuges weren’t adjusting to life in Australia. They actually used the bashing of a young Sudanese boy by a gang of whites as their evidence, how racist is that?.

Followed harassed and even assaulted my only crime having dark skin, the scale of the abuse was such I was denied a proper education until late in life.
