We live in a yesteryear of understanding about the government. Congress has no real power anymore. They do as their corporate sponsors direct them, or they will be voted out. There was a time when political service was just a short public service to the country. Now we have dynastic families making generational careers out of politics which just degenerates to cronyism. If Americans could actually adhere to their constitution they would be much much better off. However, Americans have become slaves to their distractions and can't seem to shake this self induced hypnosis. A mess of their own creation, only they can clean it up, and wake up Congress is just a figurehead. We live in a yesteryear of understanding about the government. Congress has no real power anymore. If something were to hit the market today, it would completely devalue their investments in oil. However, if this new scheme is set up, it immediately increases the value of the carbon based industries, allowing them to add what amounts to a "Value Added Tax" to all business done in the US. The great thing about it is this VAT wouldnt' be controlled by the Gov't, as we currently do not use the system, so it would allow companies to Pad their products to whatever cost they deem us capible of paying. In the long run, this will choke the average American, and should a viable technology come forth, leave them in a position to buy it up and sell it at an even greater cost to society than their current fuels and technologies. Rather than Green and Clean being synonimous with "Free" Energy, it will be a "Luxury" item that will then be taxed by the government and sold for high prices as a "benefit" to being off their grid. It will do nothing to further the advance of new technology, only allow those with the capital to takeover and charge whatever they see fit. It's not a Free Market when the game is rigged from the top down.
