US President Barack Obama paid a visit to the New York office to thank police for their efforts to track the Times Square bombing suspect.
President Obama was shown how the New York police track suspected criminals and record their movements.
The $11 million centre, next door to the NYPD’s Emergency Operations Center in Police Headquarters, is designed to conduct rapid analysis of murders and shootings throughout New York.
Mr Obama was shown how staff at the bureau, which looks like a James Bond film set, used the latest technological advances to trace the movements of the May 1 Times Square bombing suspect, Faisal Shahzad.
