At least four people were arrested Monday during a protest on the University of California at Berkeley campus.
Protesters gathered outside the School of Law to call for the dismissal of John Yoo.
The tenured professor worked for the Bush administration from 2001 to 2003, when he helped craft legal theories for waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques.
He’s scheduled to begin teaching at Berkeley after spending the spring semester at Chapman University School of Law in Orange County.
Yoo has defended the controversial techniques, and said they were needed to protect the country from terrorists after the September 11 attacks.
