Biden denies report: ‘No one’s talking about pursuing Bush criminally’

The possibility that Barack Obama might seek to bring criminal charges against President Bush or members of his administration has been a recurring theme during the presidential campaign, especially since the Obama campaign has attempted to stress themes of bipartisanship. For that reason, Democrats have been quick to downplay any hints of possible criminal prosecutions.
Sen. Joe Biden aroused fresh speculations on Wednesday, when he suggested, “If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued, not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president — no one is above the law.”
Brian Kilmeade of Fox & Friends raised that issue with Biden on Thursday morning, asking about “a report that if you guys are elected … you’re actually going to pursue criminal charges against President Bush’s administration and different people that served there.”

“That’s not true,” Biden immediately replied. “I don’t know where that report’s coming from. What is true is the United States Congress is trying to preserve records on questions that relate to whether or not the law has been violated by anyone. Anybody should be doing that.”
Biden emphasized that “no one’s talking about President Bush. … I’ve never heard anybody mention President Bush in that context.” He noted that “there’s been an awful lot of unsavory stuff that’s gone on … but I have no evidence of any of that. No one’s talking about pursuing President Bush criminally.”
Biden concluded his comments by explaining that possible misdeeds are
“being looked into now, just so it never happens again in any other administration. … The Obama-Biden administration is not going to start off saying, ‘God, let’s go take a look at what this –.’ The American people want to know what we’re going to do, not what happened.”
Biden was also lavish in his praise for Sarah Palin’s speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night, saying, “The governor was impressive. She was strong, she was tough, and she delivered that speech extremely well. … I think it’s going to be a tough debate. I think she’s going to be an incredibly skillful debater. I was impressed.”
“I’m not going to attack her,” Biden emphasized. “You look at that family that she brought out last night. It was a beautiful family. … Every family has difficulty as they’re raising their children. … I think she has a fine family.”
Asked if some of the criticism aimed at Palin has been sexist, Biden said, “Yes, by you guys in the media.” He then went on to insist that it “is sexist to imply a woman is incapable of being a mother and being a great leader.”

To be frank, I am completely lost as to what’s going on in America. Whom can I trust for news. It may be worse than any third world country. Can’t the Americans for once honour honesty so that we can read the real news – not distorted stuff. It’s worrying to see how badly the country is sinking. Perhaps bad example from its leaders??

Dear Sane is Insane,
Spamming should get you banned for these news boards.
However, I agree with you Sane is a sapper, inside the wire and one Alex should make sure never gets his home phone number.
The guy sabotages Alex by banning supporters, limits the debates, and would make a heck of a flower salesman for any tin foil hat cult.
Rumor has it “Sane” is Watson. But I can’t believe it. The Watsons are great journalists and educated enough to understand the importance of protecting Freedom of Speech because doing so makes Alex stronger.
Sane is banning innocents, Alex’s base that in turn makes Alex weaker. Makes Alex into a hypocrite and therefore makes his message weak and ineffective.
I guess you have to expect the enemy to infiltrate Alex’s operation. Sane is a prime suspect, a lover of disinformation, and a horror show for Alex sometime down the line.
Alex is not a hypocrite. He is famous for protecting virgin ears from vulgarity. Christmas trees, his vulgarites as of recent acturally make both his faces look real. Alex is so smart. Jsut don’t ask him to do simple math or spell. rotflmao
Bottom line, Alex still gets a thumbs up. He works hard, great investigative journalism, great interviews, (when he can shut up and let his guest speak) and you know he loves the John Birch Society, so he is not a bought and paid for asset. Sure he is.

Biden emphasized that “no one’s talking about President Bush. … I’ve never heard anybody mention President Bush in that context.” He noted that “there’s been an awful lot of unsavory stuff that’s gone on … but I have no evidence of any of that. No one’s talking about pursuing President Bush criminally.”
Yeah, the only time Bush is ever mentioned in that context is when the words are spoken by a majority of the population. Unfortunately, these words will forever go unheard by “elected officials sworn to represent the will of the people” because “our will” means absolutely nothing until we find it in ourselves to kick out both the democrats and republicans and rewrite our own history.

Contact the Obama/Biden campaign and tell them that unless there is repeated, emphatic commitment to the criminal prosecution of the Bush administration you aren’t going to vote for them and you’re going to encourage others to also refuse to vote for them.

I agree with Marc partially contact the O/B campaign and threaten to vote against them but please do not follow through with it! Voting for Mc Saim and Failin will only increase our struggle 10 20 30 fold! Plus you know how dems fold under pressure get a house a senate and an executive under dem control and there might be a flicker of hope with the other just more dispair.

Our government consist of a catholic party, a protestant christian party and of the biggest socialist party, that promised to pursue the war crimes conducted by our PM, J.P. Balkenende regarding Afghanistan and Iraq in the latest political campaign. Since then they have openly declared that they will not do so, as part of the coalition-plans for being able to form the current government with still J.P. as prime minister.
