Big Brother police to get ‘war-time’ power to demand ID in the street – on pain of sending you to jail

State officials are to be given powers previously reserved for times of war to demand a person’s proof of identity at any time.
Anybody who refuses the Big Brother demand could face arrest and a possible prison sentence.
The new rules come in legislation to be unveiled in today’s Queen’s Speech.
They are presented as a crackdown on illegal immigration, but lawyers say they could be applied to anybody who has ever been outside the UK, even on holiday.
The civil rights group Liberty, which analysed clauses from the new Immigration and Citizenship Bill, called them an attempt to introduce compulsory ID cards by the back door.

The move would effectively take Britain back to the Second World War, when people were stopped and asked to ’show their papers’.
Liberty said: ‘Powers to examine identity documents, previously thought to apply only at ports of entry, will be extended to criminalise anyone in Britain who has ever left the country and fails to produce identity papers upon demand.
‘We believe that the catch-all remit of this power is disproportionate and that its enactment would not only damage community relations but represent a fundamental shift in the relationship between the State and those present in the UK.’

“They are presented as a crackdown on illegal immigration” BULLSHIT! The borders here in the UK, just like the US are wide open and have been for some time now. The country is full of forigeners that have been here for ages. So i feel it’s a fair assumption that everybody will start to get harrased on the street for ID just to check if your forigen or not, then as hardly anybody will have the card the criminal scum will make it law to carry cards a lot sooner than they tell us. I for one will not bow down to this tyranny, it’s warrentless, un-just and down right immoral.

Were have you all been? This has been going on in NJ and NY for a while now. If you don’t have ID on the streets of NYC you go straight to jail. Refured to as “The Tombs” by police and the youth of the inner city.

#1, that is why the border is wide open, mexico border at least, canada’s border is more strict as canada is a richer country and there is money and fingerprints to be gathered, they basically allowed this problem to run away so that they can offer a crazy solution, i wouldn’t be suprised if under the guise of tracking illegal immigrants, they go door to door to search every house, you have more than the entire population of canada in eligal immigrants in your country, it would be like every man/woman/child in canada jumping the border for a job, the mexican would still outnumber the canadians, pretty sick when you look at it like that

Come on, folks – wake up.
The way to defeat this sort fo crap is two-fold.
Organise five or six hundred people to march without a permit and without any form of ID. Force the police to arrest every single person: don’t do anything violent, don’t resist…. but publicise the fuck out of it.
If they ‘tag and release’. then do it again the next day. KEEP doing it. Fill the jails, and if necessary, fill the pentitentiaries. Put such pressure on teh court system that the system gums up. If you have jury duty, vote to acquit regardless of the crime (unless it’s a crime of violence against anotehr private citizen).
PUT SAND IN THE FUCKING GEARS.
We have got to get people to stop accepting that government can do what it likes to us. We are not livestock.
Constitutions be damned – I never signed any damned Constitution.
If the State then wants to up the ante, we need to start organising a few ‘airplane accidents’ like the CIA does with politicians IT doesn’t like. If politicians knew that participating in the larceny would invite a little bit of private justice, then they would at least think twice.
