The "free market" isn't really free, that's just what they call it to deceive you; just like all other political doublespeak; just like we are spreading "freedom" in the Middle East.

Some freedoms should not be defended, like the freedom to rob and oppress others. It's like saying it is a violation of a rapist's freedom if you do not permit him to rape. Wake up, people.

All these Lew Rockwell articles pretty much say the same thing: "The free market is good and government is bad and the two are totally antithetical to each other." I don't doubt that the authors believe what they write is true, but it's still bullshit. Just like the article mentions, laissez-faire capitalism wrought terrible damage and the only way to curb this was through government intervention. Capitalism without constraint is like a Corvette without breaks. Besides, how long could capitalism persist without a legal structure and a police force to protect it's interests? What do you think all those troops in foreign countries are really up to? They are securing profit for the capitalists. So, far from being antithetical, these two aspects (the "free" market and government) are inseperable.

There is an alternative though. It's called libertarianism, and it has nothing to do with perpetuating a small minority's ability to dispose of the rest of humanity however it sees fit. It means people being in control of their own lives, producing their own livelihoods without the unnecessary and inhibiting interference of non-producing capitalists or non-producing officials. When we are ready to take control of the affairs of our own lives and stop entrusting them to people whose only inerest is to leach off of us and treat us as slaves, only then will real libertarianism be possible.

Great article! I read that "End of Libertarianism" article as well and a few of my friends who enjoy arguing with me whenever possible keep sending that to me and asking for my response. Now I can just link them to this article and save some time. Thanks!
