The NFL, NBC and Bob Costas want to let you know you’re a racist
Oct. 14, 2013
How did we ever get on without NBC sportscaster Bob Costas to tell us we’re racist bigots and we should hate ourselves?
The seasoned teleprompter-reader took time during last night’s NFL matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins to lecture America on why the national capital team’s name is an immensely offensive insult that needs revision.
Taking a cue from President Obama, who last week said he would consider changing the team’s name if he owned it, Costas pursued a line of contradictory logic to illustrate how football fans need to understand they’re all insensitive racists who enjoy using insensitive, racist slurs.
Acknowledging that “objections to names like Braves, Chiefs, Warriors and the like” represent “political correctness run amok,” Costas goes on to admit these teams’ names actually “honor rather than demean,” similar to the Vikings, Cowboys or Patriots.
But according to Costas, the Redskins are a different matter:
Think for a moment about the term “Redskins” and how it truly differs from all the others. Ask yourself what the equivalent would be if directed towards African Americans, Hispanics, Asians or members of any other ethnic group.
When considered that way, “Redskins” can’t possibly honor a heritage or a noble character trait, nor could it possibly be considered a neutral term. It’s an insult, a slur, no matter how benign the present-day intent.
It’s fair to say that for a long time now and certainly in 2013, no offense has been intended, but if you take a step back isn’t it clear to see how offense might legitimately be taken?
This whole time, you were a racist and didn’t even know it.
Costas’ latest spectacle once again represents how the establishment uses its most powerful tool, television, to launch willful psychological attacks against the American public’s psyche, subliminally propagandizing us to think a certain way, in this case to hate ourselves, through subtle mind control.
The producers of Sunday Night Football know the average Joe watching at home had nothing to do with naming the team, yet they insist people need to “take a step back” and realize they’re being insulting and using derogatory terms.
Late last year, SNF was also used to unleash a covert, coordinated attack against the Second Amendment. In the wake of Kansas City linebacker Jovan Belcher’s tragic murder suicide Costas, with the full support of NBC and the NFL, indicted the “gun culture” and ludicrously blamed guns for the deaths.
If NBC, Costas or the NFL truly wanted to respect Native Americans, they should highlight the entity that’s been most insulting to them, the federal government.
