With a vote on sweeping climate change legislation just hours away, Democrats are scrambling for support – and feeling confident that they’ll have enough to pass the bill.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Friday morning that the bill will be “one of the defining votes of this Congress,” and he described it as a “new tax” that will have an impact on “every single American.”
Republicans have taken to calling the measure – formally known as the “American Clean Energy and Security Act” – a “national energy tax.”

On Friday, Michigan Republican Rep. Fred Upton took note of the force with which Democratic leaders were whipping their members, telling California Democratic Rep. Ellen Tauscher: “Congratulations on your confirmation to head up Arms Control at the State Department. You have your work cut out for you because at the end of the day today, you are going to need to repair a lot of arms on your side of the aisle.”
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told AFP Friday the Democrats will have the 218 votes they need for passage. But party leaders are looking for more, hoping to build a big enough margin so that vulnerable Democrats can be freed to vote against the bill.

Really???Cap and Trade will enrich the rich like Gore, Soros, etc.who have invested in this industry. Every house,(your house) will have a energy rating. That rating will be determined by the efficiency of your windows, doors, appliances ,insulation etc. You won’t be able to sell your house unless you bring your energy efficeny rating rating up to the standards demanded. You may have to replace windows etc. Besides the gas tax on gasoline you will have to pay taxes based on the number of miles you drive your car. Your car will be fitted with GPS to determine this. All meat will have an extra tax. Farmers will be carbon taxed for each cow, chicken, pig,goat, llama etc.on their premises.. This could lead to food shortages as farmers quit the buisness. The only people who this won’t affect will be the rich. They will be able to afford the taxes for driving and for meat. Poor and middle class people won’t. The standard of living for the poor and middle class will be adversely affected. No more Sunday drives etc.

If you are poor the legislation (I read it on the web) will give you money to crank up your heat in the winter and crank the A/C in the summer. The gov’ment will pay for you if you are poor; lucky you for getting pregnant when you were 13 and producing 8 kids that live off welfare!
If you are rich you will become even wealthier trading carbon credits the same way you were able to profit from credit swaps and derivatives in the housing market, so lucky you.

Obama implores Senate to pass climate bill (June 27, 2009)
In this, you’ll notice the recycled terms that were used in the “need” to pass the ‘Stimulus’ bill.
“My call to every senator, as well as to every American, is this,” he said. “We cannot be afraid of the future. And we must not be prisoners of the past. Don’t believe the misinformation out there that suggests there is somehow a contradiction between investing in clean energy and economic growth.” That is a huge contradiciton! Gov’ts don’t create jobs. Business creates jobs.
Obama said the bill would create jobs (just like ’stimulus’ did?), make renewable energy profitable and decrease America’s dependence on foreign oil (borrowing from Bush speeches now?).
“It will spur the development of low-carbon sources of energy — everything from wind, solar and geothermal power to safer nuclear energy and cleaner coal (no such thing),” he said.
Wind, solar and geothermal are already available! They don’t need to be developed! They need to be utilized! Iceland has been using geothermal for years and it powers and warms the entire city of Reykjavik.
“In California alone, Obama said, 3,000 people will be employed to build a new solar plant that will create 1,000 permanent jobs.”
Whoppee-do. That means 2,000 people will be out of work – again, after it’s built. California is already at a record 11.5% unemplyment rate. Owe-bama thinks that passing and collecting cap and trade taxes from you to pay for a 1,000 jobs will make a dent in that percentage? I wonder how people in other states feel about their unemployment while O goes on about California’s and wants them to pay for it?

WHEN the backlash occurs, the energy of it will be diverted into some partisan argument, each side blaming the other, the bill also being deemed necessary due to excesses or some bullshit of the previous party in charge. Funny, it’s a two-party scam, both sides are in on it.
It’s like bad tax law…it will never be repealed, it’s in stone. Save the Republic, rah-rah sis-boom-bah, ron paul revolution yeah right, it will not happen. Game over. Revelation 18:4. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

The manager’s amendment on the bottom of page 44 (rules.house.gov — click Waxman) added a subsection (m) to Section 204 of the original bill that makes the requirement for energy-efficiency standards on residential buildings apply to new construction only. This bill sucks, but as it stands right now you will not have to bring your existing house up to any standard or have it assessed for energy-efficiency when you go to sell it.
