Britain could intervene in Syria as David Cameron considers no-fly zone

The Prime Minister is chairing a meeting of the National Security Council on military, humanitarian and diplomatic options for tackling the bloodshed and refugee crisis in Syria.

The discussion is expected to consider implementing a no-fly zone, supplying anti-aircraft guns to the opposition, and encouraging other countries in the region to provide arms.

Last week, the Prime Minister visited a UN-run compound on the border with Jordan and saw the conditions being endured by tens of thousands of fleeing Syrians.

David Cameron is discussing possible military intervention in Syria after the Chief of the Defence Staff warned the Armed Forces have been depleted by cuts.
