  • Buchanan accuses ‘McCain’s neocon warmonger’ of treason

According to conservative commentator and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan, Sen. John McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann is a ‘dual loyalist,’ ‘neocon warmonger’ involved in activities that ‘none dare call treason.’

Scheunemann’s former employer, Orion Strategies, is a lobbying firm with strong ties to Mikheil Saakashvili’s administration in Georgia.

Since Georgia attempted to retake South Ossetia by force, triggering a sharp, violent rebuke by Russian forces, Sen. McCain has been by far the most strident advocate of US support for the former Soviet state. And his top adviser, says Buchanan, may well be the next Henry Kissinger or Zbigniew Brzezinski.

    article continues below

“He is a dual loyalist, a foreign agent whose assignment is to get America committed to spilling the blood of her sons for client regimes who have made this moral mercenary a rich man,” he wrote.

In his recent history, Scheunemann was a key member of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), which lobbied President Clinton for war with Iraq for years before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. He was also a signatory on a letter to President George W. Bush, just days after the terrorist attacks, demanding an invasion of Iraq and threatening political consequences if the president did not comply.

In addition, Scheunemann served as executive director of Ahmad Chalabi’s group, “The Committee for Liberation of Iraq,” a pro-war organization formed in 2002. Chalabi, once dubbed the “George Washington of Iraq,” has since been accused of providing false information to US authorities and is currently under investigation.

“Most important, Scheunemann’s former lobbying firm, Orion Strategies, received at lest $800,000 from the government of Georgia between 2004 and May 15, 2008, when Scheunemann finally severed his ties — officially, at least — to the firm,” notes The Nation. “Before that, between January 1, 2007, and May 15, 2008, Scheunemann was officially on the payroll as both Georgia’s lobbyist and McCain’s top adviser, during which time Georgia paid Orion and $290,000 and McCain paid him $70,000.”

While the Bush administration has conceded that the Russian response to Georgia’s aggression is not grounds for starting another war, Scheunemann and Orion Strategies have succeeded in making Georgian membership in NATO a popular position. Sens. McCain and Obama, along with the Bush administration, are all pushing to have the embattled nation inducted into the alliance, bringing a pact of war along with it should Russian forces again cross into the country.

“Others who were once uneasy about the influence of conservatives on Mr. McCain say that their worries have not been realized, even as Mr. McCain has taken conservative positions,” writes Elizabeth Bumiller in the New York Times.

“This is the situation in which the interventionists have placed our country: committed to go to war for countries and causes that do not justify war, against a Russia that is re-emerging as a great power only to find NATO squatting on her doorstep,” said Buchanan.

“[T]here doesn’t seem to be any momentum either for a direct legal challenge or a congressional investigation, which could subpoena the players and get sworn testimony,” reported Robert Dreyfuss for The Nation.

McCain staff have called the criticism of Scheunemann’s ties to Georgia “disgraceful,” and even alleged that Democrats are parroting claims injected into Western media by a Russian public relations firm.

    3. Skip Mize Says:

If Obama wins AND if the democrats keep control of the House and increase their seats in the Senate to 60 (or more), will they have the intestinal fortitude “BALLS” to start proceedings to put all of the “Republican Warmongerers” in prison?????!!!!!

    4. Mister Jimmy Says:

There is no ‘Jesus.’ There will never be revolution in a country where people have house payments and owe outifts like Sears and Wal-Mart a lot of money as well. If the Democrats win, it will be business as usual. These endless wars will continue, Afghanistan will keep busting Uncle Sam’s buns all over the map, Iraq will still be a black hole from which no oil is pumped to the United States, the media will keep grinning and lying and everybody will send out for pizza and watch doped athletes engaged in rigged sporting events while kids attend ’schools’ which teach nothing.

Dem puts GOP perps in jail now, Bush 43 would just pardon them as Scooter was let off hook.

Obama has too much on his plate to take on right wing, that is just doing their job. Their role is same as right wing who ran OP GLADIO false flag terror, to peel away liberties and a trade for extra security.

Old tactic, problem reaction, solution. Hegelian principals.
Problem with right wing is that they are in bed w/ Israel and Big Oil much more so than left.

Right won’t stop with new legislation, they want patsies and boogyman and 100yr conflicts along with domestic checkpoints and all the liberal nanny state agenda.

if mccain wins we have a traitor in the whitehouse, im not voting for either Osamabama or traitor mccain

    7. Alexander Says:

Buchanan likes to cite the founding fathers, and pose as a real patriot, however, the same aforementioned founding fathers would see Patrick for what he is, a man serving two masters, one of which is a small European city state known as Vatican city. He can’t have it both ways, Washington and company would see him as a dual agent, so calling McCain a traitor is an absurdity coming from a man who would have been placed on a ship and sent back to Europe in 1776. People came to American to escape not only King George, but more than 1,000 years, count them, 1,000 years of Papal opreesion. No wonder western Europe is in no hurry to return to the church.

    8. jm Says:

      don’t listen to McCain lies.

    9. jm Says:

McCain tells the truth yeah, right.

    10. jm Says:

vote Ron Paul, why wouldn’t we? The only other option is to vote Obama to override McCain, and although that could be good the vote for Ron Paul will be even stronger.

What do we want history to remember on November 5, that a lot of revolutionaries voted for their enemy because he was the lesser of the two evils or that revolutionaries voted for Ron Paul because they believed in his principles?

    11. Squeaky Wheel Says:

…and the American people will continue to believe McCain is a “Maverick” even though he has all the same neocon advisors that pushed the murder-war in Iraq. Because the TV tells them so.

    12. HiFly Says:

The Neocon power base has eroded to the level of impotence. The games they have played to manipulate power are starting to return in spades thier much deserved rewards in the form of “Criminal intent” they can no longer hide. It is like a bubble that is about to pop and they will sell out the least to save the true culprits. McCain is a part of a system that is so corrupt it is like a rotting corpse of executive proportions. Looking for accomplices was easy to find in the Democratic party because they did not want the great swindle of the American people to ever end… Whats a little Treason among friends, since they view Americans as expendable to thier money making causes…

    13. Elizabeth Says:

Just go vote for Ralph Nader.
If enough of you Americans had brains between the ears, you would at least vote an honest man into the White House.
But any public that threw up Obama/McCain as aspiring Presidents has to be beyond worth reclaiming.
Either of those two and not only will the Americans be finished you will take the planet with you.
Most Americans are out of their collective minds. Average IQ wouldn’t be 85. No wonder the world despises and hates you whilst it also fears.
In the cold war I was reasonably certain that MAD would prevail and we would not have a nuclear exchange. Now I am worried that mad will prevail, and we will!!

    14. flek Says:

A bottle of crappy cola is still a bottle of crappy cola no matter how many different and colorful bottle-caps are placed on it’s top. You must flush the bottle-cap AND the cola down the toilet. Understand?
Don’t bother replacing the bottle-cap it makes no difference to what’s inside the bottle. Now take that empty bottle and re-fill it. Not with crappy cola, but with Truth, Freedom, Purity, and Grace to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.
Once people taste the Truth and Freedom this bottle offers they will never want the crappy cola again. With no bottle-cap Purity will flow and Grace will dance. Now be a good host and pass the bottle :)
Side note: Our founders gave us the opportunity at actual self government. A unique and fragile Freedom based on Truth Purity and Grace. At one time we guarded that amazing gift with our lives.
Now we’ve clouded the Truth, bottle-capped Freedom, and contaminated Purity with crappy cola. Grace left the building a long time ago. Pity.

    15. tforfreedom Says:

The national media did a great job of shutting down Ron Pauls chances of getting nominated. The bias against him was so blatant that it was sickening to watch,he was our only hope in this election to get this country back to the way it should be.All his views were right on track, but the establishment could not let him suceed, even though he got more money in donations than anyone else in the election. So all the rest of this presidential election is BS.

    16. jonny Says:

they call this freedom it just covers up facts america is a smoke screen there is no freedoms realy they give you liberty most peopel think they are one in the same onday they will look back and say what were we thinking Jesus will bring his Kingdom and America will be in history

    17. pmartin28 Says:

Pat Buchanan is right john mccain is a traitor, the pows’ that were with mccain are now speaking out saying that john mccain willingly gave intelligance info to the the enemy while he was being held prisoner in vietnam go to youtube and punch in john mccain the traitor

    18. Jack W Says:

It is about time somebody in the mainstream exposes these neoCON Trotskyites that have infested the US government like a pack of diseased rats. How far down the path of destruction are we going to let these traitors to take us before we wake up? As a former McCain supporter, I am disgusted by the way he has completely sold out and joined the CONs. Pat Buchanan represents the last voice of reason for the formerly great party of Lincoln, T.Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Goldwater & Reagan…Todays GOP is in the deathgrip of CHICKENHAWK scumbags…
