California unemployment rises to 11.5% in May

Reporting from Sacramento — California’s unemployment rate shot up to 11.5% in May, its highest level since current record-keeping began more than three decades ago.
That’s a substantial increase over a revised rate of 11.1% in April, the U.S. Department of Labor reported this morning.
The national unemployment rate for May was 9.4%.

yep I’m here sitting in California unemployed… where did all the jobs go? I’m white and somewhat educated.

Hi Danny2, I live in Hollywood and am still employed so far. White & educated, too. I work for a high-end travel agency in Beverly Hills. Fortunately the rich still want to spend money.

The jobs were shipped overseas while most American’s thought that they were too good to work in a manufacturing or fast food job.
Look to Mexico, Vietnam, and China for employment, perhaps India if your a computer tech guy… no jobs in the USA unless you have the balls to create one for yourself.

Hello friends, from unemployeed engineer in Texas. I know what you are going through. The unemplyment rate went to 7.1% in TX in May. Lots of Corporate Panic to reduce operating costs here. Now corporates raising quarterly estimates. Nice.

The rest of the world as well. Even in Edinburgh, there is now foreign language grafitti tagging on just about every lamp-post, gate, wall and utility box. Stabbings/fights are a regular even due to late night opening of public bars, and the downtown is desolate because the “tram network” has forced all the traffic to be routed away from the main streets.

there are plenty of jobs, it’s just that people have this idea of themselves as too proud to go work at a fast food place, video store or library. People need to get off their high horse and start doing some manual labor, instead of being victims of a “recession”

According to the Detroit News the unemployment rate here in Michigan was 14.1% in May. But I know so many unemployed people here that I have to believe the rate is higher.

Try living in Old Mexico I mean New Mexico, being white is not exactly beneficial to one’s employment status. I work for Wal Mart, a carpenter of 24 years because there are no construction jobs and if there are, illegal mexicans have them. Go to a DMV, it looks like Guadalajara, all those illegals stole someone’s SS# and the New Mexico state govt rewards them with a drivers license. This country is going to hell, 15 years ago it was 75% white here in Albuquerque, now it’s 45%. The tribes and the illegals are breeding like crazy it is frightening their stated goal of reclaiming the American southwest two generations from being complete.

I have a great idea,what if the American gov’t stopped sending dead money to the bullshit war on terror in Iraq,iran ,pakistan ,afganistan ,added it to the funding it is spending going to the moon and mars and put that cash back into jobs in america,wow and i am not even a rocket scientist,and while they are at it kill off anyone who has more than 1 million dollars and split rockerfellas/rothchilds trillions up between every one and have a party,i don’t even want a slice of the cash for coming up with this amazing idea,but i would appriciate it if america took their army bases out of australia and the other 176 places on the planet,woo that would save even more cash,the military could all be back home keeping the politicans in place,whoops i have been dreaming out loud…isthat a thought crime yet?plant those sweet potatoes people,but don’t smoke them cause i think that is what happened to me.

Just watched a program, NASA use to get 4% of federal budget to go to the moon,
it’s now down to -.5%. After the shuttles the US will be using Russia to shoot rockets.
If NASA we back to 4-6% of GDP, employed American’s to Mfg. what might happen?

Not to get caught up in the left/right paradigm or anything but I found it absolutely hilarious that CNN had an unemployment map posted for like 5 hours. They quickly realized that it matched almost exactly the election map. The blue states have the highest unemployment. Once they realized the blatently obvious correlation they pulled it from their website…
