Economists, top EU officials call for more regulatory power

With major European banks now failing, calls have increased for an entire restructuring of the financial system under a centralized EU supervisory body.
With Belgian-Dutch group Fortis becoming the first major European bank to buckle, British mortgage lender Bradford & Bingley also being nationalized, as well as several other banks failing in Iceland, Denmark and Germany, economists have warned that more are teetering on the brink and only a radical centralization of power in Europe can stave off financial ruin.
Earlier this month, German economist Daniel Gros warned in a report for the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) that several European banks have become so large that their governments would no longer be able to save them. Should they fail no rescue would be possible because the economy of the home nations are smaller than the banks that reside within them.
Now, in an interview with Dutch newspaper Volkskrant, Gros warns that European giants like Deutsche Bank, Barclays and UBS (Switzerland) are dangerously close to folding.
The Deutsche Bank has 2, 000 billion euros of open credit, one fifth of the german economy, while Barclays has 1, 640 billion euros of open credit, more than the entire UK economy.
Gros has proposed that European Parliament balance the books of the affected banks and that a new system of financial supervision is created with a 12 member body to overlook the European financial market.

In October the European Commission will propose new rules governing how much banks must keep in reserves, and set rules on how regulators should act if a bank is in danger of collapse.
Top EU officials, including economy commissioner Joaquin Almunia, have stated that the EU should have greater powers to regulate and intervene in the operations of financial institutions across Europe.
“The latest events in financial markets have made it clear that the current model of regulation and supervision needs to be revamped,” Almunia has said.

This is all so amuzing: I`ve pointed out scientifically why (investment) banking must be nationalized, and lo & behold the capitalists are now doing it themselves. They do it with one minor catch though: they keep themselves in control, while my plan has been to remove them *all* and I mean ALLLLL. That is the next problem: first let them nationalize our banks, and then we need to democratize power over them and get rid of the *entire* present day upper middle and elite classes, and put them down to average level and real work without any power whatsoever: menial jobs, brik laying, or else they can go to hell.
Actually things are on schedule, wonderfully enough ! How absurd to see the enemy implement the needed policies, the very class who has fought hand and foot against nationalization of investment banking. Of course they believe they will profit from it, which is true if they end up getting away with it all. “Government is the ultimate monopoly.” We must make sure none of them do. By the way: my monetary and financial system is immune to what has caused this crash for as far as it is traded debt: my constitution makes it illegal to trade debt outright “8.2.a-7.1 No debt trade” There is a 100% reserve requirenment for retail banking (money pushing back & forth services), and these retail banking aren`t allowed to be in investment banking or to make loans. With such a system there are no financial panics and so on, simply can`t happen. The Government also must never go into debt, so no imploding debt pyramid schemes numbering in the many trillions either.
If the world would have taken notice, which it can still do of course, the system might have gotten corrected before there was any crisis exploding. But as the saying goes: if you don`t want to listen, you will have to feel. It is all science & common sense, simple enough, nothing that a University couldn`t handle if they meant well. If…

Soon control of all European banks will be in the hands of a small group of ‘elites’ (THEIR word not mine - nothing ‘elite’ about these morons except their ability to avoid work of any kind) who do not answer to the electorate and will run it as they see fit.
It is getting closer today, we are actually seeing one of their staged crisis but this is the very first time I have recognized it as such.

My husband has a wonderful idea. What would it take to start a new Federal Treasury? Get people from all over the country to donate their gold and silver and reprint the gold and silver certificates?
I do not know what the legalities would be. That way when this fake money goes under we would be ready to start anew. No North American Union, no Amero.
