National health care is not this panacea that everyone thinks it is. How would you like the government deciding what doctor you will see, what treatments you can have and when you can have them? What if the doctor they make you see is incompetent, but is an affirmative action hire? Time and time again the government has shown that IT CANNOT RUN ANYTHING! Anything the government handles becomes an expensive, corrupt, bureaucratic NIGHTMARE. Socialized medicine, that’s what “national” health care really is.

maybe you are not aware of this -since the US news media are in part sponsored by big pharma- but it might interest you to know that:

Some years ago in Mexico the government passed a law that respects patent rights to all national and foreign pharmaceutical companies for a pariod 3 years. After that Mexican companies can copy the drug and sell it at a fraction (sometimes only 10%) of price of the original brand. This is already happening on a grand scale, making proven effective medicines cheaply available to the public in special pharmacies that have appeared all over the country since then.
Of course transnational pharma started a scare campain, warning that the copied products are of inferior quality and might even be dangerous. But with so many poor Mexicans they are not successful, and the low cost alternative is becoming increasingly more popular.
Something to lobby for in the US?

why do not you adopt the british system of a national health service?
we all pay straight out of our pay checques every month,this is a compulsory tax and everyone gets health care from cradle to grave and you only use it when you need it.
you may fall and break your arm,you go to the accident and emergency and get plastered up,and you have already paid for it.you have have serious heart condition you get the best treatment available,the communal pot has payed for it.
its get a lot of stick here in blighty,but in my opinion it f***ing brilliant.

Unconstitutional, but the states can do this. I seriously doubt this will be touched.

#13 End the drugging of our children with psychiatric drugs

They may talk about, maybe, it but no decisions will be made.

Being that it is unconstitutional I think #1 has the best chance of being implemented. It will become another bureaucracy to save us all! And your taxes will go up to pay for it but you didn’t need that money did you?
