The U.S. economy probably lost more jobs in 2008 than in any year since the end of World War II as firings rippled from homebuilders and automakers to banks and retailers, a government report may show this week.
Payrolls fell 500,000 in December, bringing last year’s decline to 2.4 million, the most since 1945, according to the median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News ahead of Labor Department figures due Jan. 9. The unemployment rate likely jumped to the highest level since 1993.
The figures will underscore the urgency behind President- elect Barack Obama’s plan to pass a stimulus package that will create jobs and mitigate the recession, already the longest in a quarter century. Other reports may show slumps in housing, manufacturing and service industries deepened at the end of last year, setting the stage for more weakness in 2009.

“We’re continuing to lose massive amounts of jobs,” said Michael Feroli, an economist at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York. “The negative momentum carrying over into the first half of 2009 will hold down the economy regardless of policy.”
The jobless rate probably climbed to 7 percent in December from 6.7 percent the prior month, according to the survey median.
Manufacturers probably cut 103,000 workers from payrolls, the report may also show. Factories, which make up 12 percent of the economy, shrank in December at the fastest pace in 28 years as new orders for products from cars to furniture reached the lowest level since records began in 1948, the Institute for Supply Management reported last week.

The Bush administration agreed last month to give General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC $13.4 billion in federal loans to avert bankruptcy. GM, whose shares slid 87 percent in 2008 — the most among the 30 companies in the Dow Jones Industrial Average – - and Chrysler probably led a drop in December U.S. auto sales that capped the industry’s worst year since 1992, according to the average forecast of analysts surveyed.
The Tempe, Arizona-based ISM’s report on services, covering the rest of the economy, is due Jan. 6. That index likely dropped in December to the lowest level since records began in 1997, the survey showed, as Americans cut back during what may have been the worst holiday shopping season in four decades of record keeping.
Electronic Arts Inc., the second-biggest video-game publisher, last month boosted planned job cuts to 1,000, or 10 percent of its workforce, and said it will consolidate or close at least nine studio and publishing locations.
“Labor-market conditions have deteriorated,” Federal Reserve policy makers said last month when they cut the benchmark interest-rate target to as low as zero. The central bank also has said it will buy debt as the next step in combating the recession, now in its 13th month. Minutes of the Fed’s Dec. 16 meeting will be released on Jan. 6.

Time to enroll the unemployed in the infowar. After they get done listing their jet ski’s and exercise machines on Ebay, maybe they will see what is truly happening. I know, it happened to me. A massive army that just may listen now that they have the time and motivation.

This economy is THEIR economy. The American people are very resilient and we will SOON REALIZE we can NO LONGER sit back and allow foreign influence to rule this great land. This land is so wealthy and Rothschild knew this in the early 1800’s. The international banking cartel was ousted then and were not permitted to do business with the American people. It was not until the civil war when we were divided that Rothschild was able to wiggle his way into our lives.
The American people must realize the great opportunity that we have to create stability all throughout the world and end this tyranny. We must first begin in our own land which ultimately begins within our mind. Some one famous once said “Knowledge is power.” This statement is as true today as it was when it was said and has been true for all time, past and present, and knowledge can and will be used for good or evil. Right now the scales are in favor of evil. However this does not mean that the scales must stay uneven.

Perhaps the American people will soon come to understand how they are being exploited.
The standard of living for everyone on Earth could be improved by leaps and bounds by doing nothing more than eradicating the economic leeches from the American economy.
The bankers siphon off massive wealth. The politicians and their governments burn up and control great wealth as they run interference for the bankers. This wealth comes from somewhere. It is drained out of everyone’s standard of living. It is inflated out of the money you hold, taxed out of the money you earn and loan interest is built into all of the money you spend.
The bankers that own the Federal Reserve are laughing at you for putting up with this and counting on you not doing anything about it.
There is something you can do about it.
All we need to do to unseat our rulers is stop using their money. When we switch to an alternative currency their system will fall. The central banks will dissolve and their political actors will be out of a job.

People are standing in lines for a place to rent in Calif.
Gozillions of houses are foreclosed in Calif.
People came down like hungry vultures when a few jobs opened up at my nieces work place. the six people were so greatful to get a job.
Taco Bell,and Safeway are booming….as people can’t afford to go out and eat.
Global larceny meltdown. Everyone get a plan,get your house in order….this is the calm before the storm. I believe we haven’t seen it all…this is just the tip,,,,of the iceburg.
This couple just lost both jobs,and both their houses…and they have a kid too.
Many social services are being cut in Calif. too.
Taxes everywhere on everything on the rise…while are government hands out money like candy to th global elite cartel.
Americas infrastructure,water companies,power companies, toll roads…you name is being bought up for pennies on the dollar by the the global cartel.
Businesses and Chain-stores are dropping like flies in calif. Thousands more are on the brink of closing nation-wide.Just think how many ran on credit..that has been cut off.
This present window of opportunity to size down and maybe get some dirt to grow food..will most-likely not last long.
Also Store-up on food and water now…things are closing in on us.
Money will pretty much be worthless soon…..$50.00 worth $5.00….so go figure that at a high scale if you have paper money in the bank.Think tangible,a roof,and food,heirloom seeds,solar will keep electric on,should power be turned off.
Get your money into tangible things….don’t trust the dollar. Also if there’s no food…people will be throwing their money in the streets.
Talk with your families and maybe merge your resources,stick together….and work a plan.Together you will do better…if need be.

If you allow jobs to be created by the private sector, they will not be created. The money instead will be used to continue the ridiculous lifestyles of a truly SICK group of people. Failure is inbuilt into any scheme of this sort.

This is paul again Alex and the audience I would like to say to everyone that the American economy is going downhill no matter what Pro New World order Pat roberson says. They are crashing are economy so the forign banks can by up assests and by eveything up. So now they can bring in food riots and social unrest by bringing in martial law. And so that the military and cops who were doing drills with each other and were planning this Like Alex says to fight us we are the enemy people. So then they can bring in Thier New World Order and control our whole society. I mean if people would just listen to Alex and just look up the documents that are STATED what they are going to do you would know he’s telling the Truth and not making it up. I know it may seem a little like putting the carriage in front of the old Horse, but now really is the time to buy stocks. I have lost over 70 percent of my business in 2008 alone and have laid off all employees, but I still take the time to seek out good deals in the marketplace. Not everyone will go bankrupt. Buy food, guns, ammo, learn to farm your own land and buy into the market. Many of us will find ourselves very wealthy in time. We will weather this storm, and what storm it will be. Please don’t get left behind as we ride our way to the top once again. In time.

Thats real nice hoping everyone dies, there Anonymous. You know Im worried shitless about everything that is going on because I have a child. If I didnt I wouldnt be overly concerned. I got layed off, after losing my home over a year ago. But what I had learned and continue to believe is that a lot of this can be blamed on the american people. Who gives a fuck if some big corporate box store closes? Bring it on I say! This country is sick as hell and willingly took the poison spoon fed to each citizens. Buy, buy, buy… keep feeding the rich bastards! We get tax stimulus checks for some measly amount and were told to go spend spend spend… Feed the sick fucking machine and then they fork over trillions to the same rich fucks that are destroying this country. I started disliking the direction this country was headed back in the late 80’s and early 90’s when all of the sports arenas were renamed as some major corporation and disrespecting the names and memories of the legends they were named after. That was one symptom and its grown and grown to the point that most people today thing of it as normal. Everyone wants to talk about oppressive government and big brother. They refer to the government as big brother. Wake up. Youre buying from big brother. Big brother is bioengineering the seeds that produce the food that feeds you. You are willingly strengthening the power of big brother every day when you choose to hit the drive through at the closest fast food restarant instead of making your meals at home and supporting independent farmers by going to your local farmers market. Welcome my son, welcome to the machine. The machine you grease the gears of every day with your stupidity, selfishness, laziness and impatience. The time now is to stop pointing fingers. Turn the fingers back on yourself and look in the mirror at what youve done to help build the perfect beast. Try to connect with your friends and family again. Love your neighbor and help each other out. The best way to destroy the machine is to build a stronger community and develop ways to help each other out and watch out for each other. They want you to rely on them for everything and most people just keep on doing it. Empower yourself by disconnecting from them. Our grandparents got by on much less than we have today and I truly believe they were happier people. Snap out of the addiction you have to the hands youve been allowing to feed you and your family. Downsize and lower your living standards and stop giving a fuck about your fancy possessions. Because in the end all that will ever matter to your kids is that you didnt succomb to the slave to the grind mentality working 80 hours a week, but you were at every ballgame they had and never missed a school play. SIMPLICITY people! That is the answer.
