Cheney: Bush’s actions legal if not impeached

If you don’t get punished, you didn’t go anything wrong, right?
That’s the message Vice President Dick Cheney gave in an interview with CBS’ Bob Schieffer on Sunday, suggesting that a president’s actions are legal if those actions didn’t result in his impeachment.
Asked by Schieffer if he believed that anything the president does in time of war is legal, Cheney said there is “historic precedent of taking action that you wouldn’t take in peacetime.”
Cheney referenced Abraham Lincoln as an example of another president who “suspended the writ of habeus corpus” during a war, prompting this exchange:

SCHIEFFER: But nobody thinks that was legal.
CHENEY: Well, no. It certainly was in the sense he wasn’t impeached. And it was a wartime measure that he took that I think history says today, yeah, that was probably a good thing to do.

The vice president spent much of the interview defending eight years of the Bush administration’s policies, including its surveillance and interrogation programs.
When Schieffer asked if the Bush administration had gone “too far” in its surveillance program, Cheney said no.

“I don’t believe we violated anybody’s civil liberties,” he said.
Cheney also urged President-elect Barack Obama to continue the Bush administration’s interrogation policies.
“I would hope [Obama] would avoid doing what others have done in the past, which is letting the campaign rhetoric guide his judgment in this absolutely crucial area,” Cheney said. “We were very careful, we did everything by the book, and in fact we produced very significant results.”

This is the “New Jersey Logic” which states that – at least in the Garden State – everything is legal as long as you don’t get caught.
A variant of this was claimed by Nixon who stated that if the president does it, it’s not illegal.
Look where that got him.

I think the reason he is making this pitch has a lot to do with the change.gov site. Impeachment is one of the biggest areas people want addressed. They want investigations and trials. The logic behind this crap that Cheney is spewing from his Evil mouth is absolutely unbelievable.
This would mean that any crime that is perpetrated and the criminal is not caught, they are not guilty of a crime and it’s ok.
The difference here is that Bush/Cheney and Co. have untold amount of co-conspirators that have been covering their asses for eight years now. Nancy Pelosi is a key conspirator that prevented the guilty from being Impeached from office and now Cheney is using that as proof that no crime has been committed.
When your government is guilty of such collusion and continue to perpetrate massive crimes against the country and the world as a whole, we are no longer obligated to follow their illegal and immoral decisions made against the will of the PEOPLE.
At what level do you abide by the laws of the land when the laws of the land have been turned against the very people of the land in question. If their laws have been turned against the people and they utilize the donations given in the form of TAXES against you, there is a moral and legal obligation to stop giving the donations since it is being used against you.
Ultimately, you are financing your own demise by feeding a corrupt government. There is proof of this right before your eyes, right now.
When the entire economic system is on the verge of collapse and the Congress refuses to forfeit their pay raises, should indicate to the people that there is a fundamental problem of corruption within the system of government that you now live in.
If you allow Congress to get their pay raises, this will be a sign that you do not care what your semi-elected congressmen do and will open the door for further corruption forever more.
I think all government pay raises should be approved by ONLY the voting public since we are paying their paychecks and if they do not perform, we should be able to reduce their allotment of taxpayer funded money. This is why they ALL need to be fired and new rules be placed to prevent corruption of the entire system.

When you think about what is happening, you come to the obvious conclusion that they know that “Something” is going to happen very soon that will take what few rights we have left and turn them over to the “State” to keep you “Safe”.

Law is only law when it’s being enforced…
If the government fails to enforce the law then the people have the duty to dispose of said government…that is…if they care about particular laws being enforced.
So, when they (current administration) get away with the long list crimes committed and the people take no action…then…yes…it has become legal…and…the people have taken over responsibility for this administration…

I have been waiting for you to post so I can ask you a very important question,
A friend of mine went to a regular monthly dr’s appointment the other day to get a prescription filled for arthritis in his shoulder,Well for some reason,this doctor gave him a drug test unannounced to my friend and told him he checked positive for marijuana,he also told my friend that if he tested positive again,”Something would have to be done”and he would turn him in for narcotics use,my question to you is;
Isn’t the doctor performing a drug test on you something that “YOU” yourself have to “SUBMIT” to?
And also,isn’t this a violation of doctor/patient confidentiality?Despite being completely un- Constitutional!!!
And finally,is there a legal action that can be taken against this doctor to show him that Fascism will not be tolerated in America?
My friend said the doctor acted as if he was going to report him to the authority.

What Cheney is actually saying if you can’t do anything about it I got the right to do it. This has been the philosophy of the white house since these two criminals have taken office. The bullied congress and senate are to scared and worried about there jobs to have taken action against
