In the 2005 movie V For Vendetta, a film about a totalitarian society ruled by a fascist government with an iron surveillance fist, there’s a scene where state spooks drive down a residential street with a gadget that records the conversations people are having inside their homes and gives them a rating on how antagonistic towards the authorities they are.
A frighteningly similar scenario is now on the horizon with the news that the CIA’s investment arm In-Q-Tel is putting cash into Visible Technologies, a company that monitors the output of social media, in order to “Read your blog posts, keep track of your Twitter updates — even check out your book reviews on Amazon,” reports Wired News.
Of course, the fact that the U.S. government and the military have been overloading the Internet with pro-war propaganda and trolls who are paid to cheerlead for the war on terror and attack critics is an admitted part of their cyberwarfare agenda, and Israel has done the same.
However, the prospect of the CIA closely monitoring social networking websites, whose content largely comprises of inane gossip and sophomoric blabber, shows just how afraid the establishment is of rising popular opposition to their agenda.
“Visible crawls over half a million web 2.0 sites a day, scraping more than a million posts and conversations taking place on blogs, online forums, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and Amazon. Customers get customized, real-time feeds of what’s being said on these sites, based on a series of keywords,” according to Wired.

The software scores whether each post is positive, neutral or negative on a particular topic and can judge who the most influential poster is in a conversation, for example on a comment board or forum.
According to In-Q-Tel, it wants to use the technology to see how international issues are playing out in foreign media, but as the report notes, “Of course, such a tool can also be pointed inward, at domestic bloggers or tweeters. Visible already keeps tabs on web 2.0 sites for Dell, AT&T and Verizon. For Microsoft, the company is monitoring the buzz on its Windows 7 rollout. For Spam-maker Hormel, Visible is tracking animal-right activists’ online campaigns against the company.”
Steven Aftergood of the Federation of American Scientists warns that the software could be used to track and target critics of the government, as well as political figures and journalists.
“Intelligence agencies or employees might be tempted to use the tools at their disposal to compile information on political figures, critics, journalists or others, and to exploit such information for political advantage,” Aftergood told Wired.
Visible chief executive officer Dan Vetras said that the CIA was just one of several government clients that were using the technology and that more were on the horizon.

A Universal Address Directory Service is also being proposed as a trusted postal service. Obviously such a service would be subject to strict policies concerning the protection of private and confidential information. Therefore, those individuals or organisations that do not want their details published on a directory can rightly choose to have any information made unavailable for public viewing. A Universal Address Directory Service, based on the X.500 Directory standard, would be very similar to a “Global White Pages”. I think if you follow the spiral of social evolution in the past 50 years you’ll find that the nonsense of all government and corporate venality has been exposed over and over again. As our knowledge grows, so does their corruption, exponentially. It’s almost as if one can’t grow without the other. I’ve posted comments here on a couple previous occasions, but this topic brings out crude examples from my own life of Government criminally responding to a citizen’s entirely legal sentiments expressed in a public forum. I moved to Kingman, Arizona 18 months ago after livinhg in Las Vegas for 1 years, where I was active in working with the large homeless population there, which included writin for a homeless nwspaper started up by faculty and grad students at UNLV there. It has temporarily ceased publication, but you’ll see the archived issues at http://www.forgottenvoice.org . I found it unavoidable to write openly about police/justice system abuses and crimes in this regard, and for this on a couple occasions, I returned to my home in an affluent area to find a Las Vegas Metro police helicopter hovering over my hme, which had clearly been entered (papers scattered, computer search history deleted, automobile vandalised/papers stolen – but no valuables touched!). Here in Kingman, on two occasions many months apart (Christmas time in 2008 and early September this year), I similarly wrote for the local newspaper at http://www.kingmandalyminer.com, and experienced the local Gestapo’s equivalent crimes. They don’t have any police helicopters here, so after burglarising my work truck and home, they just left a couple items behind to indicate their visit, as if the vandalism and thefts hadn’t been enough. I’ve spoken with the Mayor, written about these incidents in the newspaper, and spoken with a representative from the state Attorney General’s office. The fix is in, believe me. You may get some comments indicating concern, but the New World Order system is already firmly in place. Their lies, sense of entitlement, and propensity to presume over all your life experiences and the nation’s history are setting new benchmarks every day now. In principle, given on whose behalf they are committing these crimes of entrapment, thuggery, and outright theft, I would sanction practically any sentiment and many courses of action. But the criminal George Bush Sr. (whose family, it appears from credible research, along with Frtiz Thyiesen, financed Adolf Hitler’s rise to power) is surely right about the inevitability of their Ne World Order. Nonetheless, I do openly encourage every inner and outer form of contempt and exposure you can practise against these criminals masquerading as law enforcement, defenders of the nation, etc. etc. There is a lot more to say – for example, in discussing how they profit from their crimes through their incestuous collusion with the multi-billion-dollar film industry. Just one example of this phenomenon where their natonal security and criminal investigations are threaded through many of the films which you pay to view would be the film “Me, You & Dupree”. This came directl from the FBI’s investigation f former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and his paramour, Ms. Dupree. My understanding is that his indictment came just days before he was about to expose crimes of the Bush Administration. The observant amongst you may notice how the Government lately has been targeting Jewish individuals, and this is another very interesting story. I have written on another website about the targeting by FBI lately of high-profile Jewish individuals (the Solomon Dwek case is one example, and Roman Polanski). Basically, this is traceable to the fallout from the U.K. Government awarding honours to Miramax Films’ Harvey Weinstein, which involved the arrests of Prime Minister Blair’s Middle East policy architect, Baron Lord Michael Levy, and the resuktant resignation of the P.M. himself. This gets quite involved and isn’t grist for a brief posting here. I wil write this much, that as myself had played a part in this, President Bush came on national television at the time to disparage “those who have undermined our efforts, as in Las Vegas” where I lived. It was at that time that one of the blatant dalylight black ops brglaries of my house took place. Stand firm. Apply whatever token or effective resistance you can. They’re rolling right over you and making billions of dollars at it in the process.

I really enjoy reading “news items” that are at least 10 years outdated. In 1979, for less than $10 dollars in parts from Radio Shack, you could listen in on any land line phone within a 50 yard radius of your location. For the time that was old technology. Voice and image data is now transmitted by camera/microphone devices no larger than a grain of sand, and that technology is now 3 years outdated. How ironic that as soon as i read this story, the forum starts to bog down and have extreme lag time then “internet explorer cannot display this page”. Been happening a lot lately in the forum. Internet chatter has been ‘monitored’ since it started. This is not new at all.
And ever since the early 90’s internet chatter in/out of the USA has been flagged.
When I type ‘internet chatter’ I mean all forms of IT communication from emails, IP telecoms, VPN connections, Netmeetings etc etc etc.
Heck, the USA was SUED by the EU in the mid 90’s because they were caught manipulating stocks/shares sales due to their listening in on IT chatter from their IT Communications base in the UK.
However, if they want to patrol the streets and listen in on private verbal conversations in PRIVATE houses on private property then it’s no wonder they want to get rid of gas stations…….. Every house should have a cocktail or two prepaired and close at hand for any unexpected visitors calling at the door in order to quench their thirst

People who bitch about the government really are not much of a threat. Its the people that dig deeper than Alex Jones and try to understand the nature of the contract that we have with government that are the threat. The just isn’t any of that here so I don’t think anyone here has anything to worry about.
People that dig deeper and read stuff like George Mercier “Invisible Contracts” or stuff on “The Law Merchant” and Redemption begin to understand the nature of the social contract they have with government and have the knowledge necessary to make change. Ultimately a society sits on its laws and the things Hitler did were not against the law, and the US government lying to its people or spraying the population with poison is not against the law.
People that understand this are the ones that can think for themselves, the rest of Alex’ fans can just stay angry because thats how they are told to think. Most of the population will stay angry and the powers that be obviously want a civil war. War is for the stupid. Law is for the intelligent.
Alex isn’t going to point any of this stuff out to anyone because Alex peddles fear.

One major thing you forgot, Doug:
– Even the International Law Merchant operates on Contracts that actually have to be entered into. What most people don’t understand is that these contracts can protect your rights and interests if you know to ask about what the binding legalities are when you are to “sign” ( IE: agree-to ) the said contract(s). A contract that is fraudulent ( this could also mean through misrepresentation and/or omission ) is null and void on that basis. Most licenses and permits, actually ALL OF THEM, are faux-contracts in that they do not define the conditions and obligations, nor even mention where the applicable “codes” are located, that one could read and understand BEFORE signing to the obligation.
The other problem is that in order for any contract to be effective, the signors HAVE TO UNDERSTAND its terms and obligations, else that contract is NULL AND VOID. This is why most businesses will NOT sign any contracts with minors. By law, minors can not be expected to understand their obligations! These contracts may not of themselves be unlawful, but the actions surrounding them as well as their applicability are flawed and, under law, null and void! A true contract SPELLS OUT the conditions and obligations to the signors and any “special conditions” that apply therein.
These “invisible contracts” are a total violation of any standing “Contract law” on the merits ( or demerits ) that they are deliberate misrepresentation of the conditions and obligations to the signor(s), and therefore, null and void. This is also how some have been able to consistently beat “traffic tickets” in one court or another ( regardless of the state he/she is in ).
Your corrosive and abrasive commentary doesn’t hold much weight when you resort to personal attacks that prove nothing themselves! Instead of “blowing more smoke”, how about actually educating folks on what you know so as to help them empower themselves with the knowledge they gain! THAT is how we “take back our freedoms” with true unity!

I think a better idea would be to just absolutely saturate the net from all kinds and specie of ’social networking’ and what have you with the necessary critical discussion about the REAL state of affairs in our country. THEY want to use the net for their own propaganda, then WE can do they very same, for only a fraction of the total cost to the ‘taxpayer’!

I’m wearing electrodes/implants without my consent. I’ve been harassed everyday for the past decade by the U.S. federal government and military. Federal agencies (i.e. CIA, NSA) are well-insulated from THE PEOPLE. They have the potential to claim “national security” for everything and not release any info. Congress funds this crap and apparently supports it because there is nothing being proposed to change it. My life has been compromised and destroyed by the U.S. federal government. It forces me to live in circumstances not of my own making. It fails to acknowledge past misdeeds that impact the present and future.
