Grand Rapids, Mich. has become the most recent city to question the practice of fluoridating public water, as part of a growing tendency for local governments to question the use of many chemicals that formerly been taken for granted.
“I think this pattern has been growing because there is better environmental health research that draws connections between low levels of chemical exposure and changes in our bodies,” said Dr. Howard Hu of the University of Michigan. “As the research has become more sophisticated, it shows that environmental toxicants can do other things beyond just kill you: they can stunt your growth, change behavior and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.”
Grand Rapids was the first city in the world to fluoride its public water supply, based on assurances from the government that the chemical reduces the risk of tooth decay while posing no serious risks. But based on a number of studies linking fluoride to problems with the thyroid, kidneys, central nervous system and skeletal system - including cancers - the city’s director of environmental sustainability, Corky Overmyer, has ordered a new review of the scientific evidence concerning the risks and benefits of the chemical.
“This has been on my radar screen for a while,” Overmyer said.
Overmyer says that while he has not drawn any conclusions about the safety fluoride, the scientific evidence gave him reason enough for concern. Having already gotten chlorine removed from the city’s water supply several years ago, Overmyer did not expect the vicious backlash that developed to his questioning of fluoride. From large medical associations to the mayor and even his own dentist, Overmyer’s decision has drawn fierce criticism.
“I had no idea [fluoride] was that sensitive an issue,” Overymyer said.
Fluoridation opponents have cheered the news, however, confident that the scientific evidence will speak for itself.
“If Grand Rapids falls, that could be the beginning of the end of fluoride,” said Paul Connett, director of the Fluoride Action Network.

A nearby town secretly withdrew fluoride from it’s water supply to save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year (amazingly how they were conned into buying industrial waste) and for nearly 10 years no dentist in that town ever noticed an increase in tooth decay. Nothing. But the day the secret was let out all the cries of the poor children’s teeth were raised, and without a shred of evidence fluoride made any difference. And as a bonus they figured they saved nearly a million dollars - which of course could have bought everyone toothbrushes, natural toothpaste, and some dental floss instead.

Flouride is used to protect the water from nuclear contamination by binding the harmful components to easily separate - post nuclear event {encyclopedia brittanica 1970]. It has NOTHING to do with your teeth. In fact it is SO TOXIC, it is banned by D.O.T. from transportation on roadways. The flouride for our toothpaste comes from ultra-toxic aluminum manufacturing by-product and used to be used as rat poison and as a pacifier of prisoners at german labor camps. The promoter of the use of Flouride, Oppenheimer, also suggested that DDT was safe, and used to spray people with a thick mist of the stuff. Err, because this article is sourced as a NaturalNews.com story, not infowars or prisonplanet story. If you want to mention those other chemicals (poisons) maybe you should write an article and submit it? Or make a blog post and get a link up on the forums? I’d be interested to read it; my own knowledge is more in the direction of the criminal Fed, surveillance grid, criminal intelligence operations and UFO coverup.
But the poison aspect is one not so much of great interest to me, but I’d like the information for waking people up. Mothers are particularly interested in hearing about vaccinations and fluoride.

Can someone please post a link to an article in a peer-reviewed journal that concludes that the regular consumption of a normal amount fluoridated water (with a sodium fluoride concentration equal to that of most water supplies in the US) directly leads to neurological disorders or at least effects the central nervous system? The Fluoride issue in Ireland has been an ongoing one for many years. The City and County Councils put Hydrofluorosilicic acid in the drinking Water. It is not the same as Calcium Fluoride. They also put Aluminium Sulphate, Chlorine Gas and Sulphuric acid in the Water. A nice cock tale,especially when boiled to make a cup tea. Alzheimers, hip fracturees and the increase in Cancers have been on the increase in Ireland since their introduction. Flouride, Bromide, Chlorine & Iodine are Halogens.
The body has Iododine receptor sites in the body: thyroid, breast, prostate, ovaries.
If you are Iodine deficient it’s because the other 3 Halogens are filling those receptor sites -keeping the Iodine out.
Bromide is put in ALL commercially baked goods.
