UPDATE: Schenectady Mayor Stratton Responds To Prison Planet “Martial Law” Report
A New York State city is considering implementing martial law and replacing the local police force with National Guardsmen, in an effort to clean up law enforcement in the area.
The remarkable idea comes in response to a rise in police corruption and illegal activity in Schenectady, according to a Capital News 9 report.
City officials are reportedly considering scrapping the entire police force in response to the actions of a small selection of officers who have been accused of assaulting citizens.
While other options have been raised, such as a consolidated county-wide police force diverting authority to the State Police, Mayor Brian Stratton has indicated that he believes the Governor could declare martial law during a period of “transition”.
“It may be that as a stopgap measure, that you would need military forces – State Police, National Guard.” the Mayor said.
“It’s a contrived scenario,” said the mayor. “But it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities if you go that particular route.”
Schenectady’s Corporation Counsel John Van Norden said, “If you abolish the police department you still have a need – not an obligation – but a need to police the community. You would need something in transition. Declaring martial law would be one way to bridge the gap.”

It is a well documented fact that the use of military for law enforcement violates the Posse Comitatus Act.
Section 1385 of the Act states, “Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”
The original text of the Insurrection Act of 1807 also severely limits the power of any federal or state representative to deploy troops within the United States.
For troops to be deployed, a condition has to exist that, “(1) So hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or (2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws. In any situation covered by clause (1), the State shall be considered to have denied the equal protection of the laws secured by the Constitution.”
Only in times of major disaster or emergency, do governors have the authority to call out the state’s contingent of the National Guard. Using active duty U.S. Army in law enforcement operations inside America absent such conditions is completely illegal.
The indiscretions of five or six Schenectady police officers hardly constitutes such a major emergency, particularly given that the police forces of major cities such as New York and L.A. are mired in corruption to a degree hundreds or thousands of times more pressing than that of Schenectady.
Schenectady officials are expected to make a decision on what course of action to take in early April. In the meantime, readers may wish to remind the Mayor’s Office of these facts.

From bad to worse.
Take one overfunded group of heavily armed government agents and replace them with an even more overfunded group of even more heavily armed government agents.
And that’s the problem: They’re overfunded and they’re armed agents of the government. We are paying the government to enforce behavior upon us that is agreeable to them and their power structure.
Hint to Schenectady city officials: If you’re doing something that is going bad, do less of that, NOT MORE!
How about this for a politically incorrect solution: Provide incentives for your citizens to get well trained in armed combat and to carry weapons as they go about their daily activities. The criminals will be LESS likely to mess with your citizens and you’ll be able to do away with your police force altogether. Imagine how much that will help your city budget.
You live in a police state in America. Your government rules over you with force, not reason. They rule with force because they know that reasonable people will not put up with their corruption unless forced by the muzzle of a gun to do so.

Instead of calling the national guard, why don’t they just call the militia. The militia is not part of the government therefore does not violate posse comitatus. After evertyhing is back in order, maybe members of the militia can join the police force which will put the police automatically on the people’s side.

You listen to this and you would swear that they were talking about Zimbabwe’s police force. What trash we have for police officers in this country. I know that there are some good cops out there even if you are a dying breed doesn’t this embarrass you that you work for an outfit like this. You talk about zero IQ and being bigger thugs than the thugs you know that you are talking about an American police officer. Shame on you guys.

Skanknecktady is corrupt and has been for years. there is more crime by cop than other ‘crime’… these 6 cops are just frosting for the deep layers of corruption. Yes, NYC and LA and Chicago, are just as corrupt, but at least there is something being done, and that means start with a clean slate, and start fresh. you then have a baseline of ethics and consequence in place and a chance to repair the damage done. First smart thing Mayor Stratton has done in years.
At least he has some balls to do something even if it means asking for help in the meantime.

Martial Law is not the answer. The military does not belong in a civilian environment. Get rid of the bad cops and hire new ones.

mrwickey is right – Schenectady cops have been a law unto themselves for decades. So bringing a few back from retirement, as someone suggested, won’t help at all. Most of the ones in trouble now got caught driving drunk and I remember 4 drunk off-duty cops crashing the bar I worked at and having a you-can’t do-anything-about-us attitude about 22 years ago. The problem is pervasive and they probably need a clean start, but in the interim, martial law is NOT the answer.

Most charges in police-state America are initiated at the local level, which is also the level that the mobs work at… therefore, regional police consolidation is a great idea, or as suggested here, state-police, in terms of breaking up police corruption at that level, plus it is a budget appropriate suggestion for economic hard times. On the other hand, the mob can just target a different level of government to infiltrate, so….does it really solve anything?

I think NY city has the finest police.. Yeah, there might be a bad apple her and there. But that is everywhere not just NY.. When my daughters car was stolen from Pa the NY police found it. When I lived in NY, they were on every corner. I never feared. They have a lot to do with keeping the peace. Heres my thanks to you, “NY’s finest” “Thanks Bunches”

Did you completely miss that this was from news and there is a video interview with the mayor? So it isn’t Alex Jone’s imagination playing you you know.
And besides that, when ever they breach the constitution etc they always have a little trial run first to see how it is taken.
These guys are in no hurry. The plan has been in implementation for decades and if it fails at one point or gets delayed they just move on with other agendas. It is all just minor hiccups.
And as long as maninstream media continue to honor their promise of secrecy (as mentioned in by David Rockefeller) the can continue implementation as only 1 in 100 can see what is going on. And those can easily be marginalized.

I will Probably catch FLACK from saying this, But, I know it clearly violates the Posse Comitatus Act. BUT. It is Nice to see the BAD PIGS getting kicked out by other PIGS. Thats not very articulate, but it’s the best way to put it. The PIGS In My town are so bad, I wouldn’t mind them ALL Getting the can, and My Good Buddies in the NG taking over for a few weeks.

This is a great litmus test. Well contrived – by the way, whatever happened to security contract forces? Is it not possible to install a relatively well known security firm like Pinkerton for a period of time? Ruling out government intervention.
