According to corporate media polling data Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in the race for the presidency. Fox News, Bloomberg, Quinnipiac, CNN and CBS report Clinton enjoys a 11.2 percent lead.

The “same coalition that twice elected Barack Obama” is responsible for Clinton’s lead, according to The Washington Post. “Clinton leads Trump 50 percent to 41 percent among registered voters and has made steady progress against her potential rival over the past six months. Her margin over Trump has increased from three points last September to six points in December to the current nine points,” results from a Washington Post-ABC News poll reveal.

Her margin over Trump has increased from three points last September to six points in December to the current nine points,” results from a Washington Post-ABC News poll reveal.

Respondents to a CNN\ORC poll believe Clinton has better “potential presidential qualifications,” is more in touch with the middle class, better able to handle the responsibilities of being commander-in-chief, and is more aligned with Americans’ views on important issues.

The remark about Clinton’s middle-class affinity is betrayed by her donor base—according to federal election data for the 2016 race, Clinton’s top contributors include Soros Fund Management and the Saban Capital Group. Since entering politics Clinton has taken money from Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase, and Lehman Brothers.

Banks and corporations support Clinton despite her pledge to force the wealthy to pay more taxes. She claims Americans earning over $250,000 a year are rich. Campaign trail rhetoric, however, is routinely betrayed after a candidate reaches the White House. Obama went back on numerous campaign promises, including lifting a payroll tax cap on earnings about $250,000.

“I also believe we need a tax system that makes the wealthy pay more and does not tax the middle-class. I’m the only candidate running, in either party, who will tell you my goal, my pledge, is to raise incomes, not taxes, on the middle-class. And that’s what I think we should be doing,” Clinton said in January.

As commander-in-chief Clinton’s foreign policy would be almost identical to her predecessors, including George Bush.

She has promised to maintain a “cutting-edge military” by spending billions on defense (the Pentagon budget in 2011 under Obama was over $664 billion) and continue the policy of military intervention abroad.

In November, she argued in favor of meddling in Syria’s internal affairs by deploying special operations. In October, Clinton bragged about her work “putting together that coalition to impose sanctions on Iran” for its undocumented nuclear weapons program.

As secretary of state Clinton was responsible for the lack of security at a diplomatic mission and CIA compound in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans died in an attack on the mission, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
