This second mission is the reason that the separate states retained control over National Guard when it replaced the militia during the Depression. The Federal theft of the National Guard under Dubya is thus a grave subversion of national security. It's a huge power grab that destabilizes the country. The citizenry needs to arm in consequence, not to support a revolution, but to oppose tyranny, hopefully deterring it and restoring some of that lost stability. Here’s a related point that occurred to me recently:

Giving the Treasury away to financial speculators seems like a pretty good way to unify the country in opposition. I'm still hoping to avoid having to fight, but that hope may well be disappointed, so I'm preparing. I suspect I'll also have to hunt deer for food. Today,I decided to go to my local farmer's market which takes place on Wednesdays in the Bontaanical Garden here in Bronx,New York in the Fordham area.I had a choice between two entrances and decided to take one that was adjacent to Fordham University.As I was passing the college and was about to enter the market I looked to left at the school's parking and saw about 15-20 Marines in full gear with S.A.W assualt rifles practicing drills.I could not believe my eyes.Is there truth to this martial law thing? It's a win-win situation.
