The NYPD will blanket Manhattan with extra cops Monday to reassure a jittery public as Iranian madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives for a UN conference, officials said Sunday.
Cops will flood into Times Square, midtown and the city’s subways to restore confidence after Saturday’s thwarted bomb attack.
There will be a “particular focus to midtown,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters at Police Headquarters.
The NYPD’s top cop wants New Yorkers and tourists to walk in Times Square without fear. The heightened police presence will “increase that comfort level [by] adding uniformed patrol,” Kelly said.
The terror scare will not change the security measures for Ahmadinejad or other world leaders expected at the United Nations.
