A quarter of Russia’s grain crops have been destroyed by the unprecedented heatwave and wildfires. The government is planning to spend more than a billion U.S dollars to help producers. It’s also imposed a ban on wheat exports to avoid a surge in domestic grain prices, which is expected to be lifted in October. But this has already caused a global wheat price spike.
