Cyber Security Expert: Hackers Planning To Steal Election For McCain
Spoonamore says electronic voting machines represent national security threat, Israel, China and Russia have capability to rig presidential outcome

Stephen Spoonamore warns in a new interview that electronic voting machines represent a national security threat and that hackers are already planning to steal the 2008 presidential election for John McCain.
Spoonamore is a GOP member and a lifelong Republican, having worked on election campaigns with Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg. He also has 20 years worth of experience in encrypted and networked communications systems for banks, TV, telecommunications, EMS, Military and other uses.
In an ten part You Tube interview, Spoonamore warns that hackers are planning to steal the election on behalf of the McCain camp and even predicts the margin of victory, that McCain will make a “shocking recovery” and win 51.2 percent of the vote with three electoral votes over Obama.

“This is a national security threat,” said Spoonamore, “it is very possible for a foreign government to begin manipulating that transmission of code just as they attempt to do fairly often with our financial data….we deal with it every day on the commercial side,” he added, noting that China, and not the American people, has a greater chance of choosing the next U.S. president.
Spoonamore also fingered Israel as another foreign government that was planning to attempt to hack the 2008 election.
“We don’t know who’s changing the vote now – these weird results are coming in all over,” said Spoonamore, adding that the danger of the vote being hacked by Israel, China or Russia is an even greater threat than partisan vote fraud on behalf of the Democrats and Republicans.
“You’ve built a vulnerable system and many people would want to exploit that vulnerability and not all of them have the best interests of our nation at heart,” he added.

In the interview, Spoonamore stresses how easy it is to hack an electronic voting machine and rig an election.
“If people think that a voting machine that calls in to a tabulator is any different than all those cash registers calling in to the central processor – it’s the same thing,” said Spoonamore. “If you put a man in the middle attack, a computer sitting in the middle that can change or capture or manipulate the information, it will do so,” he added.
“It’s valuable to be president….if you can steal it for a couple of million bucks why not,” said Spoonamore, adding that the last two presidential elections were stolen.
Spoonamore said that he had personally witnessed people attempting to hack election systems and since going public with his testimony had received threats not to talk about vote fraud because it would undermine American’s confidence in the voting process, to which Spoonamore responded that people should doubt their vote because “it’s being stolen”.
Spoonamore said that top Republican operatives had told him that election hacking was “just a different methodology” but they didn’t grasp the fact that if you build a hackable system, “there’s hundreds of sharks that want to hack it and you will not know who the final hacker was.”
Spoonamore said that the only way to prevent elections being stolen is a complete return to paper ballots, a “move back to what worked so well for 190 years,” and the elimination of electronic voting machines.

Hey this is interesting stuff, I am very excited to see the election outcome in the US. I’m from Britain and we do not.. well at least where I live, have electronic voting machines but this might be different in the big tows/cities. Either way even without the hackers its bound to be a close call, which makes the effect of a discrete hacking attempt in key areas all the more powerful.

Well perhaps they engineer it that way. The media promotes two people…they argue over benign issues that belong in tabloids and soap operas…the flock of sheep are split into two relatively equally proportioned groups. Now they can throw the election via voting fraud either way and a majority won’t seriously question it because it appeared to be so close it could go either way. If there was a clear edge for either candidate not by 2pts, but perhaps 15-20 what ever…. People might start catching on when the guy who was way behind mysteriously wins anyway. This is a cooperative thing between the two parties it has to be in order to work right… two sides of the same coin leading us down the path towards world government.

Well you don’t have to buy it to understand why they might want to do this with your (seabottomdweller) own thinking in mind. For instance … thinking that they want Obama instead of McCain and knowing that the people would prefer Obama they might do this just to piss people off. The vote on the bailout just shifts liquidity from one channel to another.
At the same time the vote makes the Republicrats look good and the Demopublicans look bad. The message from the bailout vote is clear, “vote Republican”.
I hope this ploy doesn’t work, but many voters are still in the “lesser of two evils” mentality, so it just might work. I suspected however that the elite agenda was to put in Obama. Nobody knows?

Why is the matter of electronic voting still an issue in a free society?
If it is so obvious electronic voting can be rigged, why is this method instead of paper voting still going on??
We aren’t living in a free society, that’s why. It can’t be any other way. No-one I know prefers electronic voting, nearly everyone I know opposes it for the above reasons. And yet, as usual, this is the only way we’re permitted to vote.

While there is no such thing as 100% reliable security, this guy appears to be reaching. The attack he suggests, the man-in-the-middle attack, doesn’t explain at all how this would be accomplished, especially on a large scale. It’s possible they could employ this attack on maybe a few voting centers, but acting as if it’s possible to influence state-wide results requires a significant suspension of disbelief.
Beyond the problems with the MITM, there’s the issue of how they could possibly modify the data, as the transmission sessions are encrypted with a variant of SSL (strong symmetrical algorithm with a public key exchange). This ensures the integrity of the data for the receiver and makes it very easy to tell if the data has been tampered with.
In short, the only possible way to commit voting fraud is to modify the votes before they leave the voting centers or modifying the data once it has already been stored at the elections boards in each state. He has not suggested any attack that would be capable of doing this, so I have to call bullshit on this one. Certainly got all the conspiracy theorists riled up, though, didn’t he?

The two candidates represent the range of thought which is permitted by the empire. To any one who watched the debate, it should be striking how little difference there is in the substance of what is proposed by McCain and Obama. Watching the mainline media coverage on the two candidates (except for Fox News), it is clear the electorate is being steered towards Obama.
The hacking threat is real. However, I believe that the powers that be are pushing for the facade of “change” represented by Obama because they sense the deep resentment building across the land and hope this will forestall open rebellion. They hope that by putting a young, articulate new spokesman in black face out in front of the war machine, they can proceed with the agenda of global domination with sufficient popular support.
The future is not set in stone though. There is still free will and control of the system is not (yet) total, but everything I see leads me to believe it will be Obama.

Just like the 2004 election was stolen, particularly because of Ohio, so too will the 2008 election.
Remember 2000? That’s when McCain ran for President but lost out to George Bush, who was the Republican nominee for President back then. Therefore, I just don’t see McCain losing twice – in 2000 AND 2008. You would think Bush and Cheney would come up with something to steal the election for McCain.

Surely people don’t go through the process of voting knowing that their vote will be bogus, but it does leave me wondering how damn dumb the majority of the people really are. Can’t they see that their vote doesn’t count, that it is a pre-determined bunch of b.s. but then again the obama campaign is preying on youngsters who really don’t know how this country really works. As yet another Presidential election season has come due, it is well worth noting that “change” has become a constantly recurring campaign slogan in American elections. Those intellectuals who opt to continue onward with such a tired refrain are well aware that very little will change for the betterment of the American public-at-large, in spite of the media-controlled flood of campaign rhetoric on behalf of the respective nominees.
Many Americans may well wonder, “Why is it that we desire change in the first place?”
Whereas the Constitution of the United States was originally fabricated in order to give the American citizens a simple guideline for their representative government, more than two- hundred years of incessant Legislation has produced a miasma of orders, acts, statues and laws that are repugnant to the Constitution – each time these ideas have been merged into public policy in the name of change.

This is the best reason to require paper printouts for each voting machine to insure accurate recounts if necessary.

They system should be a no brainier 3 part system where you get two receipts and one auth #
first vote walk in booth, receipt given and ph# allotted on receipt with voter #
Second phone in your votes to number on receipt withing 48 hrs and confirm receipt numbers on votes.
Third web site confirmation on walking verify and phone in auth code, few more steps , but would allow less room to beat a system.

I’m not arguing about rigged elections — the Presidential elections are like WWE wrestling matches — the winners are decided in advance of the match. But putting PALIN in office? A heartbeat from the Presidency? If the powers that be are determined to put McCain in the White House, why have Palin as a running-mate? They couldn’t dig up anyone, ANYONE else?

I would have to say this is a non-issue! Our votes have been tampered with since the creation of Voter News Service at about 1964. ( It probably was going on longer than that! ) Our election system has been a total sham for many YEARS! Just look at the fact that “lobbyists” get easier access to our ‘civil servants’ than we do!!!

Here in the UK, our local government voting registration mentions proxy votes…. TEXT (!!!) votes… email/internet votes… it all sounds very hackable. It’s staggering they even provide us with what seems like a choice.

I also believe the last two elections were stolen. I believed that before I received what seems like “proof” to me. I have received letters from the Republican party thanking me for my support of their candidates including an autographed picture of McCain and Palin this time. These only get sent out to those who voted for the Republican party candidates. Can anyone explain this to me since I did not vote for any Republican candidates?
