David Bowie’s 1967 track ‘We Are Hungry Men’ was a statement against ‘overpopulation’ eugenicists whose ideas were circulating at the time. At one point in the song a Nazi voiceover barks, “Achtung, achtung, these are your orders. Anyone found guilty of consuming more than their allotted amount of air will be slaughtered and cremated. Only one cubic foot of air is allowed.”

Wow. I’ve always thought Bowie was a bit odd. Did Hitler’s spirit embody him in the writing of his song and the performance thereof. I wonder at times if spirit’s do embody performers to perform and sing certain things.

I caught the end of “V” yesterday. Missed it first time round. The point I’m making is:- One of the characters mentioned that the earth’s pop. was 3 billion. That was back towards the end of the 70’s I had to do a double-take and was horrified that it had swelled to nearly 7 billion in the intervening years. I’m not in favour of culling the human pop. Just posting a comment.

The fact that the song is odd should grab your attention,, right there.
Look we already know most of the news is contrived and spun. We might deduct from that ,that perhaps a lot of the music,movies and literature is orchestrated too. After all apparently the CIA has a hand in the news we see on TV. Bowie was a HUGE Orwell fan, and his album DIAMOND DOGS was even based on 1984.
How the CIA would benefit from the distribution of either of those films – which, whatever you think of them, do convey the main themes of the books – is beyond me, and I think that’s a silly allegation.

Why would the CIA want to influence the ending of the movie “Animal Farm”? Do you know what the book “Animal Farm” was about? If you do then I can not explain the obvious. The ending of Animal Farm the movie was different from the book. If you think it wasn’t then you either didn’t read the book or you didn’t see the movie or both.
I also gave you a link to an article written on the subject in the New York Times by Lawrence Zuckerman.
A man by the name of Daniel Leab wrote a book ,”Orwell Subverted”. Through the Freedom of Information Act he obtained papers which showed the details of the CIA’s involvement in these two movies. The fact that someone with CIA “connections” was involved in the sale of the movie rights doesn’t mean much to me.
Julia Child was a CIA asset – Does that mean her show didn’t teach people how to cook or that there was some sinister purpose behind it?
Are Graham Greene’s books less relevant for his intelligence activities?
Are James Bond movies less entertaining for Ian Fleming’s?
They changed the ending of ANIMAL FARM because it was a cartoon made for children, just as they have with countless other books.
1984 was pretty accurate from my recollection, but, at any rate, both films portray a completely negative view of authoritarianism & the control of the individual by the state, and I fail to see how the CIA would benefit from a message like that.

I’ve always been a big Bowie fan. But I think Bowie did make some sort of deal with the devil back when he was doing those songs about space travel. “Major Tom” was timely with the faked moon landings and really helped secure the lie in the minds of the young generation. I beleive it was because of the pro-moon message that Bowie was invited onto Bing Crosby’s Christmas show

Now back in the day, there really wan’t anyone more representitive of the established order than Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Bowie in this clip (and don’t get me wrong, the song is fantasticly done) is appealing to the WWII generation and the powers-that-be are propping him up and making it clear to the parents that Bowie is not just safe for their children, but preferred.
During this period that Bowie appears on this show he also struggles with intense bouts of drug addiction.

The Bowie/Bing Crosby special was taped on September 11, 1977. 24 years later, Bowie would be the first performer at the Concert for New York City. He sang “Heroes,” as song about lovers who meet at the Berlin Wall, which fell on November 9, 1989—11/9.

I really like the way Bowie mocks the eugenicists with this song. He captures their intellectual arrogance quite well with the line about talking “above your sphere” for example. The globalists always seem to act like they are above us all. Bowie uses satire, sarcasm, and really lets us know what he thinks of these elitists/Nazis and their twisted visions.
As we all know this song came from the late 1960s. Around 1980 David Bowie became a born again Christian and renounced many of his old ways. I would encourage everyone to remember that all of us change in life and this once crazy rocker has really changed too. He is now a new creation in Christ and I believe his music reflects that. I am a big fan of the guy.
Please do not think Bowie endorses any of the whacko’s he was mocking.
All that said, this early song is timeless. Truly it deals with a lot more serious topics than the Laughing Gnome.

I don’t think David Bowie is an evil man. He did have some flirtations with the occult when he was younger according to some biographical reports. But that seems to be long behind him. I don’t have any evidence that he’s a born-again Christian either but he’s not some evil rock star hell bent on eugenics either. He doesn’t pay his back-up musicians very well but that’s another matter.
If one cares to remember, in his song MODERN LOVE (1983), he sings, “get me to the Church on time” and “Put my trust in God and man”.

Bowie is not an evil man but he is struggling with his faith by his own admission.

As for George Harrison’s song, “My Sweet Lord”. There is NO evil intent or meaning in his reference to Lord. He is in fact singing about Krishna, a benevolent Hindu god. George was inspired to write the song after listening to a Christian Gospel recording by the Edwin Hawkins singers, “Oh Happy Day”. Harrison also uses the Jewish and Christian word of praise, “Halleluah” in the song.
When he sang the song live, he would also invoke praise to Christ. Syncretism. But the original version is about Krishna.
The song has also been sung by others like Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis who OMIT the Hare Krishna part since they are both of the Christian persuasion.
Let us all try and stick to facts rather than conjecture and not label people something they are not.

The text here (lifted from somewhere else?, having been misheard) says “My studies included suffragy” – (last which is not a word).
No – Bowie actually sings “My studies include exophagy”.
Exophagy Definition: ‘Cannibalism, on others outside the group’.
A very well chosen term, then.
