Dearth Of Sunspot Activity To Herald New Ice Age?
Observatory predicts two degree drop in temperatures over next two decades as solar activity dwindles

A top observatory that has been measuring sun cycles for over 200 years predicts that global temperatures will drop by two degrees over the next two decades as solar activity grinds to a halt and the planet drastically cools down, potentially heralding the onset of a new ice age.
While the mass media, Al Gore and politicized bodies like the IPCC scaremonger about the perils of global warming and demand the poor and middle class pay CO2 taxes, both hard scientific data and circumstantial evidence points to a clear cooling trend.
Following the end of the Sun’s most active period in over 11,000 years, the last 10 years have displayed a clear cooling trend as temperatures post-1998 leveled out and are now plummeting.

China recently experienced its coldest winter in 100 years while northeast America was hit by record snow levels and Britain suffered its coldest April in decades as late-blooming daffodils were pounded with hail and snow on an almost daily basis. The British summer has also left many yearning for global warming, with temperatures in June and July rarely struggling to get over 16 degrees and on one occasion even dropping as low as 9 degrees in the middle of the afternoon.
“Summer heat continues in short supply, continuing a trend that has dominated much of the 21st Century’s opening decade,” reports the Chicago Tribune. “There have been only 162 days 90 degrees or warmer at Midway Airport over the period from 2000 to 2008. That’s by far the fewest 90-degree temperatures in the opening nine years of any decade on record here since 1930.”
The reason? Sunspot activity has dwindled. There have only been a handful of days in the past two months where any sunspot activity has been observed and over 400 spotless days have been recorded in the current solar cycle.
“The sun’s surface has been fairly blank for the last couple of years, and that has some worried that it may be entering another Maunder minimum, the sun’s 50-year abstinence from sunspots, which some scientists have linked to the Little Ice Age of the 17th century,” reports one science blog.
Long-time man-made global warming advocates NASA assure us that significant sunspot activity will return in 2012, but a recent a paper on recent solar trends by William Livingston and Matthew Penn of the National Solar Observatory in Tucson, predicts that sunspots will all but vanish after 2015.
Since the sun, and not carbon dioxide, is the principle driver of climate change, a dearth of sunspot activity would herald a repeat of the Maunder Minimum, the name given to the period roughly from 1645 to 1715, when sunspots became exceedingly rare and contributed to the onset of the Little Ice Age during which Europe and North America were hit by bitterly cold winters and the Thames river in London completely froze.
The spotless sun: Eerily quiet solar activity has many scientists concerned that a new ice age could be on the horizon.
Forecasts of a sharp cooling trend are backed by the UK’s Armagh Observatory, which has been observing solar activity for over 200 years.
The observatory notes that solar cycles 21 and 22, which were characterized by being short and intense in their activity, led to the natural global warming observed in the 80’s and 90’s.
“Cycle 23, which hasn’t finished yet, looks like it will be long (at least 12 to 13 years) and cycle 24, which has still to start, looks like it will be exceptionally weak,” writes one observatory scientist.
“Based on the past Armagh measurements, this suggests that over the next two decades, global temperatures may fall by about 2 degrees C — that is, to a level lower than any we have seen in the last 100 years….“Temperatures have already fallen by about 0.5 degrees C over the past 12 months and, if this is only the start of it, it would be a serious concern,” concludes David Watt.
Such predictions are of course of little interest to a global PR machine that butters its bread on attributing every weather event, be it droughts, floods, volcanoes or earthquakes, to man-made global warming.
No matter that the last ten years have showed no global warming and the next 10 years are predicted to show no global warming, the fact that temperatures are clearly dropping in correlation to the lack of sunspot activity means nothing to people who are already committed to a quasi-religious belief system and governments that have resolved to squeeze the middle class citing fraudulent claims of eco-apocalypse as an excuse, while the real environmental crises – deforestation, GM madness, cell phone tower radiation, genetic splicing and chemtrails go almost completely ignored.

Man-made global warming is a bunch of bullshit to divert attention away from more important issues like pollution. Real pollution, PCBs Dioxin, etc., get ignored because everyone is busy worrying about fake pollution CO2, which is a natural gas produced by the earth and which we all need to survive. It also have the benefit of diverting attention away from the real polluters (industry) and blaming ordinary people for simply existing and breathing (because we all exhale CO2).

I believe some key people promoting global warming knew the truth right from the beginning – and that it’s the sun – they also know about the coming ice age, which will fit their malthusian agenda perfectly.
They know it’s gonna get cold soon – and with chemtrails – with a lot of chemtrails – the killing effect will be even greater.

Perhaps you should do a little investigation on your own, eh?
The recent decline in sunspots is primarily due to the solar minimum which will last until about late next year. The solar maximum, which happens after the magnetic poles of the Sun flip, will probably be one of the largest we’ve ever seen. This is evidenced by the record breaking solar flares of late 2003 in which several X-class flares bombarded the Earth in late October actually causing a slight increase in surface temperature.
The larger concern that some believe is that the Earth’s poles will too flip around the time that the Sun’s do. Should this happen large holes in the Earth’s protective magnetosphere will open up allowing for solar charged protons to hit the surface of the Earth. This radiation will undoubtedly cause death and destruction.
Quite frankly, the amount of yellow journalism on this site is growing worse and worse and looks as if it’s its own propaganda machine of scare mongering. Perhaps it’s time I reopen my website to dispell the falsities this website frequently posts… perhaps you just need to do some research rather than having the same journalistic initiative as Fox.

You are right: it is toxic chemicals and radiation we should really be worried about. And I have always thought the earth was getting cooler. We better get our houses properly insulated because it is going to get very expensive to heat them.

The last solar maximum was in 2001, and the next one should be sometime in 2012. The solar cycle takes 22 years to complete.

It’s exceedingly hard for most of the population to enter into any sort of real discourse regarding this topic, because the global warming propaganda is so pervasive. Nevertheless, I have readily engaged every green-thumbsucker and presented them with information we have about real global cooling, and the fact that the scientific world isn’t at all united in the false global warming scheme.
I’m certain that the money these pro-global warming scientists who have sold out humanity will keep them warm in the after-life; my understanding is that it’s quite hot down there.
I’d additionally appreciate more information from the previous poster about his understanding of numerology, and if he was aware of any interesting websites on that topic.

I read this article and consulted the original claims made by Armagh Observatory. I think it’s all hype. The sun is fine and will continue to be so until it enters its Red Giant phase billions of years from now. People relax.

I would like to know if the sun has no activity for the past year, then why are the cell phones and cable always messing up the signal. They ALWAYS said the the interference of electronics was due to solar flares, so then why is there still interference when obviously there is NO solar activity ? Can anyone answer this question ? I don’t think the sun had anything to do with it, they lied about it and now they got busted in their lie.

There has been no sign of biological extinction in the past and there won’t be in the future. It is thought that the solar wind induces enough magnetic field on earth to still protect the surface. But you can wonder about our satellites and if they will have sufficient protection. But this won’t be happening for at least the next 2000 years.

The Sun CAN produce problems with RF communications and therefore your cellphone. This interference comes with the solar wind that bombards the Earth after moving through the magnetosphere and comes not only from flares, or rather the Coronal Mass Ejections from flares, but from coronal holes as well. RayB: Yeah, I’m aware there’s no record of mass extinction but there are geological records of the Earth’s poles flipping. If we tie that evidence to the dates of known extinctions then we can see they don’t coincide. I was merely expanding the discourse with some of the beliefs floating around.
Odd note, the next solar maximum is due to peak right around the end of the Maya calendar, and, as shown by astrologers, the alignment of the Sun to the galactic center.

Fnordytwo……..I understand about the Solar Winds, B U T , you need solar flares for strong solar winds, at least strong enough to cause electronics interference. There has been no solar activity strong enough to cause strong solar flares, therefore, no strong solar winds, therefore there should be NO electronics interference, yet the cell phones and cable, ect…. works worse now (without any solar activity) than before, when the solar cycle was at a maximum. So that only leaves me to believe that there is something else going on here, maybe HARP has destroyed the Ionosphere enough that the solar winds are just coming right in or maybe it’s something totaly different. I just know that there is not enough solar activity for interference.

Fnordytwo, I appreciate your intellectual honesty. In my post I never said that there were no magnetic inversions. There were many in the past and as you said, with no correlation with mass extinction.
But coming back to the main issue… Again from past records on the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and that it has no correlation with atmospheric temperature except that the concentration always followed a global warming (and not the other way around), could it be possible that in some design, the vegetation needs to grow (with the help of increased atmospheric CO2) before a global cooling?
Back to the sun… what reaches the earth is not just photons and infrared and uv light… there is much more, some very energetic like x-rays and plasma… think about this… there is much more that meets the eye about the sun!

Cindy, the sun may feel warm on your skin when the sky is without clouds but as you may or may not know, water liquid and vapor in the atmosphere is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. Have you ever noticed that when it is cloudy, the night are warmer? This is because the water keeps the infrared from escaping. They get absorbed by the water molecules on a much wider spectrum than CO2. Of course, on the other hand, if you never get infrared light hitting the ground for a while, than it will get cold because there won’t be any to be rejected upwards. This is what might happen during an atomic winter.

Cindy, I did not say that they are not manipulating the weather with chem trails. I was just giving you the physics and chemistry behind the “temperature” phenomena. There is no question about it. There is manipulation of the weather and weather patterns. Hell, China admitted it and that is what they do to control the weather around Beijing.
But you should ask yourself why they do this. Is it to give Fat Al credibility or is it because they are trying to block satellite imagery? Or maybe it is used to enhance some new weaponry.

Maybe what they meant was no sunspots for the new cycle. They were a few proto-sunspots in the last few weeks but mainly the sun remains blank. Those other sunspots seen in the last two months were from the previous cycle. You do have to admit that it has been a very long time since the sun showed a blank face for so long. Cindy – do you have one of those mirror with lots of light around? Stay in front of it… reading a good book… for 1 hour a day… yo will feel much better.
I would like however to conduct a survey here about people’s observations of this year’s weather.
Here is BC the Spring was never ending. It was cold and wet. The crops are about 6-8 weeks late. I even saw some farmers plowing and replanting other crops in order to get something out of their fields this year. As for the summer… As long as I have been in BC (about 10 years) we never had rain during July and August. But this year is really different. We had rain, cold and even frost in the mountains. We almost lost our garden… everything was rotting at some point.
I’d like to hear what other people have experienced this year compared to the last 10 years.

The recently published reports documented the declining amount of sunlight hitting the earth…the study was conducted in the 50’s with the international communities running the same program.
A recent PBS documentary called it the “dimming effect”….it has happened before, when all life on the planet was obliterated…..due to the release of huge amounts of deadly methane gas from the warming oceans…pouring out in huge quantities…into the atomosphere…we now see the polar ice caps disappear, the tiny particles suspended in our polution relflects much of the suns rays – depriving plant life from being able to produce quality nutrition. It may require global socio-economic realignments.
We will all die first from the methane gases before the growing cycles completely stop…I hope.

What bothers me more than carbon tax though, is the thought that the Lords and Ladies who rule our lives with an iron rod in one hand and a bucket of oil in the other, would use a mini ice-age to charge us even more to keep warm.

There was never any record of very high methane concentration in the atmosphere. The cows are producing much more methane that those emissions from the ocean. It is true that there is a lot of methane trapped at the bottom of the oceans but it is in the form of hydrates under really high pressures and cold temperatures. Do you imagine… the whole ocean would have to warm up quite a lot in order to heat up the bottom. For all we know, the methane there is actually from the decomposition of organic matter that has been dropping for billions or years.
The day the ocean warms up that much is when the sun will become a red giant.

Does anyone know how to tell if, during a severe weather event anywhere in the world, it is due to HAARP manipulation or is it just nature? I understand the sun drives climate, but what is the connection between climate change & severe weather, for instance the unusual tornados in the midwest this year?

HAARP is supposed to induce disturbances in the earth’s magnetic field that would create all sorts of phenomenon (some think). In any case, if it was possible to make such changes it would be seen on satellites and of course by those satellite studying specifically the earth’s magnetic field (http://core2.gsfc.nasa.gov/res.....sions.html)
I still have reservations as to how much damage would such a device do. I think that the induced magnetic field from the sun’s wind is many times more powerful than this device. But again, it is your money and they are wasting it.
As far as weather goes… you have to look at the difference in atmospheric pressures and temperature and humidity, etc… quite complex system! But overall… there have been no correlation (except in AlGoro World) between bad weather and global warming.

During the aftermath of 9-11, when the U.S. airspace was shut down, temperatures went up a whopping 2 degrees due to the absence of “chemtrails”.
Since then, even more chemtrails are aerosoled over our world. This is obviously intended to accentuate the coming cold. This is merely because the cold and blue blooded Iluminati lizards have a real sense of humour and love make fools of us whilst they have us all worried about global warming. Has anyone seen any of the latest NEXRAD readings? Ooops! I think NEXRAD was taken down because it would have shown HAARP activity too well. We can’t have public access to systems that tattle on the on the “manipulators” of Nature!

On a more provable point, if I was on the “big-oil” payroll, I would probably have capitalized on the ‘global warming’ band wagon, as well as have investments in oil futures and contracts, and make a killing selling ‘green alternatives’! WIKIPEDIA HAS BEEN CAUGHT RED-HANDED ALLOWING THE MASSIVE EDITING AND REWRITING, IF NOT DELETING OF SOME POSTS TO IT! I have no confidence in the ‘credibility’ of wikipedia.com for any important information that it may host. Therefore, knowing about the shenanigans going on at wikipedia, I NEVER QUOTE WIKIPEDIA AS A ‘CREDIBLE’ SOURCE OF INFO as a matter of principle! Alex Jones HAS covered this subject matter to death! Go read it!!! The archives are there for the very purpose of answering all of those questions! You can also go check the United States Code on what it says for weather modification and manipulation. There is also a Weather Modification Association in existance – our own local utility is a corporate member of it!!!

Those two predictions correspond to the two current models, one predicting a low cycle, and one predicting a high cycle

What I can’t understand is how sites with MUCH more traffic than this one can handle posting properly, but not Prison Planet.
Take for example the idea of a delay before the post shows up when the site is busy. How is it that the server can know you’ve already posted, but can’t actually display the post? Why is it if you view by page your post might not show up, but view all and it does? Go back to by page and it disappears again!
Other times it’s the complete reverse, showing up on the by page view but not the view all?
Doesn’t that strike anyone else as totally weird? Who the hell programmed this site? If it is due to moderation before posting, why does the site not say these comments are moderated in that manner, and why is it the only posts I have trouble with are the ones that criticise Prison Planet or one of their guest authors? I can say whatever I want about any of the other posters here, but start talking about Prison Planet…

I own http://www.notaprisonplanet.com. The site was originally registered when a guest on Jones’ show suggested it. I was first to nab it up. I used it initially to simply debunk, or at least drive some truth into, stories that were being run on this site. I had stopped both due to time and lack of interest but it seems there is a growing community of people who love what Jones’ is doing to promote truth, but despise the garbage the Watson’s are spewing out.

You obviously didn’t look too hard on the website to find the evidence you said wasn’t there…What did you just go to the main page??..There is information on the climate and climate changes all the way from the 1700’s..all you have to do is read the damn info and you will find a fluctuation in the weather as well as a steady decrease in the temp. as stated….anyways…Whatever..the evidence is there…it’s only there if you look…NOT everything is laid out right for your consumption.

that would be the Uk’s Armagh Observatory, Marc, as mentioned in the article. real journalists have regularly gone to jail for NOT naming their sources, in the real world; sources are named when it is OK/safe to do so, generally, as in this article apparently. the peer reviewed report also cited in the article is in the public domain, so you can go and check on it; if you search the topic, you will find more papers on the same topic, with variations in interprettion, but all on basically the same track. if man-made global warming turns out to be real i will cheerfully eat a hat of your choice.

LARRY, thank you for the information.I believe that the unusual melting of the artic ice cap last summer was man made.This is just a guess on my part.But I have been watching a nasa webcam taking daily pictures of the ice cap.There is very few pictures available from the summer of 2007.Hummm.HAARP?Whatever technic they used,they want the oil and gas.

All this arguing over the “truth” is all well & good, but I’d like to see an article or ideas on how to cope with the coming climate change. The earth will freeze & warm just as its been doing for the past several million years. How do we cope??

Well, I am a ham-operator and I can tell you that the radio I use and my dipole is not doing good in making contacts. That includes even on 3800 freq’s. which has a usual range of 1200 miles or so. And on 20 meters you can talk all over the world easy when the cycle is right, along with 10, 15, 17, 12, meters. If all else fails, morse-code can be heard easy at most cases’. But I have a really nice beam, and tower that I have not put up yet as if I do not know if I am going to live in the southern area that much longer. Being close to the beach with the storms here is not good. I like being in the middle of the country. I might have to go back to northern Texas as I have a house there. And just living here for a few years…OH I forgot 40 meters is really good to. And 30 meters is your morse freq’s that is really good to listen to morse if you know dit dit dit da da da dit dit dit. or da da da, dit dit dit, da da da….:)

Thank you for showing just how biased the media is!
The fact is there is NO Global Cooling trend AT ALL!
In 1998, a particularly strong El Nino drove temperatures well above the trend:

See that one red bar sticking way up above the black line? That was 1998. The black line is the trend.
Just an explanation. This is an anomaly graph. What that means is rather than showing actual temperature, it shows the deviation from a pre-selected baseline temperature. In most graphs like this that I have seen, and in this case, the baseline is the average temperature for the period 1961 to 1990. So, blue bars are temperatures below the baseline temperature, and red bars are temperatures above the baseline temperature. Zero, is the baseline temperature.
If the world was warming, we would see the left half of the graph be mostly if not totally blue, and the right side mostly if not totally red, with the magnitudes increasing towards the ends. That is what we see.
The 1998 temperature anomaly is well above both the baseline, AND the trend line. But look at the years after 1998. They initially drop below the trend and then return to the trend line until just the last couple of years as La Nina was beginning to kick in. First it stabilises for a bit, then it drops for awhile, then eventually, La Nina passes and upwards we go.
You can see the same process at other times in the past (the little upward bumps in the trend line) and yet the trend line keeps on going up. The same is true of THIS bump. You may also notice that the bumps get steadily lower in magnitude, until the bumps themselves barely perturb the trend line. It’s getting harder and harder for El Nino/La Nina to stand out from the trend.
So ask yourself, keeping this graph in mind (an earlier version of which was used to try and sell the “Global Cooling” bullshit), does that stream of articles above REALLY reflect what the truth is?
You can CLEARLY see that the world has NOT cooled, and that it has not even plateaued over the last decade (only the last few years due to the onset of La Nina). So why do all these articles from so many different media organisations push such an OBVIOUS lie?
Other graphs calculated using different data sets show the same thing.

That last one even shows 2005 as hotter than 1998, but once again, different data sets (made using different measurements) can show different things and still be essentially in agreement. In fact the most accurate picture is often gained by simply averaging these data sets. In any case, NONE of them show cooling over the last decade.

Karmakaze: Thanks for the info; looked at your article; he said maybe in about 10 years we’ll have this. Will it be expensive; will the oil companies stop it? Will we have another false flag ops for them to declare martial law?? Will global cooling prevent us from utilizing this new tech? What will happen to us before 10 years is up?????

Well, if enough money and effort was put into developing it, I doubt it would be that long, but even if it is, for such a HUGE change, that is actually a short time. We are talking about a quantum leap in electricity generation, making us INDEPENDENT of the elites, at least in terms of home energy use. Hell, the Vietnam war took ten years…

I guess that depends. The materials are not expensive now, and are abundant, but if we put one of these units in every house then maybe. But the savings you will gain by not having to pay for electricity ever again will far outweigh the costs. At some point a new home won’t be even worth buying unless it has one of these.

They’ll sure as hell try, as will the electricity utilities. Probably at first only they will have the use of these systems. But sooner or later they will become available for everyone. Third World countries would do well to IGNORE patent law if that prevents them from bringing safe clean free electricity to their people, and once someone gets one, no politician in their right mind will stand in the way of this change. I mean would YOU vote for ANYONE who did not do everything possible to make this a reality? I know I wouldn’t.

Who knows? Cornered animals lash out, so my guess is it is definitely possible.

No, there is no Global Cooling (see my other post on this thread), but even if there were, the Sun won’t go out (if it did AGW, the elites, everything, would be forgotten… just before we all died) and as such Solar radiation will still hit the Earth and still allow these systems to work.

Well, the old Chinese curse, “may you live in interesting times”, is more valid than ever. If we ARE still around then, and we haven’t killed ourselves off, then its highly likely that we will break free of the elites grip, and they will never really have the power over us again that they do now.

Actually, it will matter even more. The fact is without the history surrounding such an operation, and without people like us telling everyone we know what the REAL reason for these false-false attacks is, then how will we be able to convince people they are being lied to?
In fact the Watson’s and Alex Jones have done a HUGE amount of damage to their credibility and OURS, by participating in the biggest lie of all. By helping to further the elites agenda of making the rest of us pay for their crimes, the Watson’s and Jones are becoming TRAITORS to the very cause they seem to promote.
We as a people need to recognise that the elites’ strength comes from their control of resources that they have tricked us into believing we need. Why are the Watson’s and Jones not telling us that we DON’T need those resources? THAT is how we can fight the elites, by takinjg away their real power over us, but the Watson’s and Jones are REINFORCING that power by telling us we are powerless and NEED those resources!

A drop of two degrees will cause major crop failures world wide. It is a major crime to humanity that governments and the UN are pushing biofuels instead of growing additional food NOW while it can still be grown. As a result many will die of starvation. Food could even become scarce and very expensive in the USA.

This is a serious problem and we are going to need lots of CHEAP energy to survive this minimum.
Sarah Palin is right, we need to drill baby drill, and get hot on building nuke plants NOW.
I’ve actually seen it cooling down, last January we saw our section of the Columbia river freeze over, quite thin, but we had never seen it do that before in the last 10 years of living on the river. Luckily for me electricity is 7 cents a KWH, for many it’s much higher, up to 50 cents. That means running a standard 1500W space heater will cost you 75 cents an HOUR, that’s 18 bucks a day, or 3 hours of work at minimum wage for one crappy heater. Of course this is before they hit us with Carbon taxes.
