Defend George Will and the right to question climate alarmism!

Please help defend nationally syndicated columnist George Will from the greens… you made be defending your own right to question green orthodoxy!
Here’s the story. On Feb. 15, the Washington Post published Will’s column “Dark Green Doomsayers.”
Not surprisingly, green groups (Center for American Progress Action Fund, Media Matters and Friends of the Earth) have gone ballistic). They’re mounting an e-mail campaign to the Post’s ombudsman alleging that,
- Will claimed that “according the U.N. World Meteorological Organization, there has been no recorded global warming for more than a decade.” This is false. In fact, the WMO recently stated that “global warming, mostly driven by greenhouse gas emissions, is continuing.”
- Will misleadingly conflated Arctic and global sea ice levels to leave readers with the false impression that global warming isn’t real. After Will’s column was published, the University of Illinois’ Arctic Climate Research Center took issue with his use of their sea ice data, writing: “It is disturbing that the Washington Post would publish such information without first checking the facts.”
- Will repeats science deniers’ discredited assertion that a scientific consensus about a global “cooling” crisis existed in the 1970s.
Comically, the greens allege that,
Unfortunately, the Washington Post has a pattern of printing demonstrably false assertions from science deniers. Post editors’ refusal to stand up for the truth strengthens the hand of polluting industries while irreparable harm is caused to our planet and its people.
The greens are demanding that,
the Washington Post correct demonstrably false statements in George Will’s column.
But Will’s statements are not false.
- Will is correct about there being no warming since 1998 — e.g., check out this graph.
- Will is correct about sea ice — it is higher today than 30 years ago.
- As to a “consensus” 30 years ago on a looming ice-age, Will merely cited a number of major media that reported on the disaster-that-never-happened. Nevertheless, the National Academy of Sciences issued a report warning of a coming ice age in 1975, stating “A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale… because the global patterns of food production and population that have evolved are implicitly dependent on the climate of the present century.” [Source: Newsweek - April 28, 1975 "The Cooling World"]. NASA warned of human caused coming ‘ice age’ in 1971. The Washington Post reported on July 9, 1971 that, “The world could be as little as 50 or 60 years away from a disastrous new ice age, a leading atmospheric scientist predicts.” NASA scientist S.I. Rasool, a colleague of James Hansen, made the predictions. The 1971 article continues: “In the next 50 years” — or by 2021 — fossil-fuel dust injected by man into the atmosphere “could screen out so much sunlight that the average temperature could drop by six degrees,” resulting in a buildup of “new glaciers that could eventually cover huge areas.” If sustained over “several years, five to 10,” or so Mr. Rasool est imated, “such a temperature decrease could be sufficient to trigger an ice age.” [Thanks to Marc Morano for the excerpts.]
Moreover, the Washington Post can hardly be considered as giving significant voice to climate skepticism. Other than the odd syndicated columns from Will, Charles Krauthammer, Robert Samuelson and perhaps a few others, the Post is a bastion of strident global warming alarmism.

I have a few questions about global warming!
1. How long have we supposedly been keeping a record of temperatures around the globe?
2. How many years has the Earth been existence?
3. Dose our orbit around the star Sol a fixed orbit or is it a varied elliptical one?
4. If Plants breath Co2 and exhale o2 what would happen to co2 levels where the trees and other plants are being ripped out of the earth?
5. What has the seeding of the clouds with aluminum particles done to the atmosphere?
6. What effect has the Iraq/ Afghanistan wars done to the global environment?
7. What effect has Nuclear testing done to the environment?
8. Dose our carbon usage effect the Polar Icecaps on the planet Mars?
9. How does the testing of particle accelerators and the attempt to make a black hole effect the planet?
10. How can American acceptance of low carbon emissions effect the planet when every other country has no such policy is this maybe an attempt to regulate the hell out of American businesses so they will move overseas where no such regulation exists and if they do just greeze tha hand of a local corrupt politician?

Sure I defend anyone who exercises their first amentment rights, though I think speaking against climate change is a moot point. As I have stated before regardless if you believe in climate change or not we have an over-riding prioity to reduce carbon emissions: the oceans. Many people state that it does not matter how much carbon is emitted in the atmosphere because rain brings it down to earth. Sure it does but it drops it into the world-wide water system thereby altering the ph value of the oceans. The net effect of the carbon and nitrogen from farming being drained into the oceans is a shift of the water’s ph value towards acidification. When you couple this with our over fishing (it has been predicted that by 2050 most game fish will be gone), a formula for turning back the oceans to the primeval period is in place. And what type of life exists in heavy carbon/nitrogen soup? Jellyfish. And they are proliferating in the oceans at this present time (and will only accelerate in the future).

Will was caught giving wrong statistics is his column just like every global warming denier writing about the story. The global warming denying movements are all sponsored by big oil.All of them!! Only two kinds of people deny global climate change, unpaid idiots and paid idiots.

I was called an idiot in the 70’s when I said man made global cooling was a fraud. I was an idiot 2 years ago when I called man made global warming a fraud. Now I’m an idiot because I call man made climate change a fraud. The only consistency you “genius climatologists” have demonstrated in the last 40 years is that naturally occuring variations in the environment are caused by man and that the only way to fix it is to implement a global tax. How the hell is placing billions of CO2 cap and trade tax dollars in the hands of a small group of globalists going to fix “climate change”………….I know, I’ve heard it for 40 years….”time is running out, the earth is dying, we’ll hash out the details later. Sound familiar? This same panic cry gets used over and over to shove globalism down our throats (ie. patriot act, banker bailout bill, stimulus package, etc.).

There was NO concensus in the 70’s about cooling. This is a myth. All of the global warming denying ‘Facts” have been debunked. Only idiots like you still believe the lies put out by big oil.

Even the BBC broadcasted it. Whether it be a myth or not there was some sensationalism at the time about global cooling. So there is global warming according to you? Please inform me if so, because I don’t believe a bit of it. (Oh and there’s no reason to call people with different opinions idiots. It only makes you less credible.)

You’d make a great minister of information in Orwell’s 1984. Just deny global cooling was an issue in the 70’s. One little problem HAHAHA, I was there. You better get on board with your fellow propagandists. There is now consensus that global warming is a hoax. Hence the name change to “CLIMATE CHANGE”. I guess you didn’t get the memo. I have watched seen it. It is filled with discredited lies and spin. I know you think you are intelligent and you know it all, but you do not. As for the global cooling of the 70’s, yes some people were screaming that but it is a myth that it was widely accepted. It was also based on false information. go to quicksilverscreenDOTcom and watch climate wars 1-3, one of the episodes talks about the 70’s cooling myth and why SOME people jumped on board. To fully understand Global warming or climate change you have to look at many different spheres of science and study them hard. Most people on this site accept small articles and stupid discredited videos as truth and they believe they are in the know. You have to be a really educated and intelligent person to look at all the evidence. You also have to venture out to different sources of info and not just sources that comfort you in your world view. Just the fact that you say there is global consensus it is a hoax shows how completely out of touch and how completely ill informed you really are. That comment alone discredits you as either a liar and a shill OR you are just ignorant. It is the other way around. Go watch the videos. I dare you too. I know you will not because I have seen your other posts and you believe in scripture and prophecy. It is almost impossible to argue with someone that believes in fairy tales so of course you will believe global warming does not exist even if proof if shown beyond all doubts. You are a sad person. But then again maybe you will watch the videos and it will open your mind.

I watched all 3 parts of Iain Stewarts movie: Earth The Climate Wars. Interesting how the Greenland ice cores show that abrupt (1-3 yrs) changes in climate (ice age to warming) are an inherant phenomena in the climate going back tens of thousands of years. Banning CFC’s appears to have been a good thing. Not sure why he had to say that some people equate global warming skeptics with holocaust denyers. He kind of dismissed the role the sun and sunspots play in this temperature increase. He also said that combating global warming means a reduction in our freedoms. If a global tax on CO2 emissions goes into effect there is no denying that. I think one of the ongoing problems in this whole debate is that scientists have to cater to whoever is providing their research funding. If big oil supports your research then man having a minimal impact on temperature change better be your result or no mo money. If one of the Rothschild or Rockefeller charitable trusts is financing you then your research better conclude that we need CO2 cap and trade taxes or no mo money. Also I think the rewards are more profound on the man made global warming side of the equation (Al Gore got an Oscar AND a Nobel Prize for the “hockey stick”) Thanks again for the info HAHAHAHA.

The issue is so complex. Many sources cause the warming or weirding. Not to mention other types of pollution which doesn;t affect the temp at all but is still dangerous and toxic in other ways. The sun is responsible…for about 5% of the increase. Anyways, the series is only a start off point. You cannot just sit back and believe. I have looked into the debunking they made vs global warming denying “facts” and the TV series is pretty accurate. One thing is for sure, like you said, doing nothing is not good and doing too much (cap and trade) is also not good. I just know that I have read many other books on the subject and once India and China are up to our level of consumption, we are all f! So even if the earth is not warming because of CO2, just switching to clean energy will still be an incredible plus because it will quell the ever increasing demand while keeping our environment clean. The latest buzz for alternative fuel is fission.

Go to mediawatchdog groups and you will see hundreds of stories on this dishonest man. The fact prison planet has an article asking for defense of Will says a lot about this site. Alex jones deals in right wing lies and right wing propaganda.

Mr. Will may have some deep faults and misperceptions but is right on about the global warming (now cooling) scam and he is one of the few to be heard on it so his views on this criminal confiscation by the elite are of great value.
