Delta Force officer: US officials stopped plans to kill bin Laden

After September 11, 2001, a team of elite Delta Force commandos was sent into Afghanistan with an assignment to find and kill Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora — but that mission failed.
The commander of the Delta Force team has now written a book which tells what he says is the true story of what went wrong. He appeared anonymously on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday to summarize that story.
Bin Laden was known to be holed up at Tora Bora on a ridge with an elevation of 14,000 feet. The Delta Force team’s initial plan was to come at him from the direction he’d least expect, climbing over the mountains at his back, but that plan wasn’t approved by the higher-ups. Their second idea, to drop hundreds of landmines along the mountain passes to Pakistan to impede bin Laden’s retreat and then bring in helicopters, was also turned down.
“How often does Delta come up with a tactical plan that’s disapproved by higher headquarters?” CBS’s Scott Pelley asked the commando leader.

“In my experience, in my five years at Delta, never before,” he replied.
The only remaining option was a frontal assault by 50 US Delta Force members plus their Afghan guides — and the Afghan warlord accompanying the commandos frankly told them, “I don’t think you guys can handle it.” A few million dollars from the CIA quickly secured his cooperation, but only to a degree.
The Delta Force leader told CBS that the Afghan fighters went home every night, abandoning whatever territory had been gained that day. “It was almost like it was an agreement, an understanding between the two forces fighting each other,” he stated When the CIA did come up with an exact location on bin Laden, it was nighttime, and the Afghan support was nowhere to be found.
“It wasn’t worth the risk at that particular moment to go up there and play cowboy,” the leader told CBS. “It was better to be cautious, refit, go up there with the entire force the next day and play the battle out as we had planned.” But when he attempted to move on bin Laden the next day, his Afghan allies balked, saying they had negotiated a cease fire with al Qaeda, and even drew their weapons on the Delta force team to prevent it from acting alone.
Shortly thereafter, intercepted radio communications showed that bin Laden was on the move. A cave which al Qaeda members had been seen entering was bombed for several hours, and it was thought that bin Laden had died there. But when US forces checked the cave six months later, bin Laden’s body was not found. The Delta Force leader believes he received medical treatment in a local village and then got away safely into Pakistan.

I think he does know, now. That’s why he wrote the book. He’s lucky he came back at all given how his and Bin Laden’s bosses tend to view soldiers as expendable.

Please people understand that Bin Laden and his group of so called terrorists are CIA operatives. The Bush administration has been very protective of them after 9/11 because they still needed the threat of further terrorism in order to continue their fear mongering and conclude the successful take-over of the United States of America. Georgie the “Carlyle Kid” has been working off Hitler’s play book a plan no doubt provided by Adolph’s finance man the late Prescott Bush.

Why did those 2 stand down orders come? –Iraq hadn’t happened yet! If Tim Osman was captured or killed right out of the gate, from the perspective of a brainwashed American, the War on Terror would have been over. The furvor over 9/11 would have completely dissipated. Americans would have felt a sense of relief. Their would have been no support at all from the American people to go into Iraq-even with Tim Osman still alive 70% of Americans were against the war.
Is that rationale clear?

Off topic but take a look at the story on fox news website. Look at the graphic photos of the anti-government protesters who had limbs blown off from bombs. I have never in my life seen such graphic photos like this posted on MSM….NEVER!!!!!! So the question is, why suddenly do they show these kinds of graphic pictures? i find it extremely hilarious and a little unsetting that these guys writing on this forum at the bottom IE: Ken and “Suckmyutube” are so sure that guys in Delta are idiots, and that 9/11 was a conspiracy. If it is so obvious that it was, then i would like them to share with the world there facts, and prove that they didnt just get stoned a bunch and watch some youtube video that threw broad speculations at them which they somehow instantly believed. Im a liberal who hs served overseas in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and while i dont agree with everything that goes on, its extremely repulsive to see a guy who will say he would piss on the body of an Delta operator, because they are doing the job they have to do. For one it shows that most of the people writing on this forum have no idea what goes on in the world by there rude one sided commentary, and get all there information from things they here from there buddies and families.

NJ please realize there is complete idiots in every group of people. If you talk to ‘truthers’ you’ll realize most all of us are pretty logical thinking, respectful, intelligent people. Trust me when I say that ‘truthers’ dislike the people that post stupid s*** on here as much as you do.
Also, you saying something to the effect of ’smoked some weed and watched a youtube video’ is a pretty silly attempt to stereotype anyone who seeks truth. We come from all walks of life and I’d be willing to bet 99.9999% of us highly respect the folks in the military. I know I do and I feel bad for all of them but I think they are slowly waking up which is a good thing.
Take some time and look at the wealth of information available, be open minded.

Hey ken, pull your head out of your ass. Why is it that you and all of you other 9/11 truthers have to bring everything back to 9/11. If any article or interview is headlined as but “9/11 was Orchestrated by George W. Bush and The US Government”, you whine about how it isn’t legit. In the mean time the Iraq war has killed 1.2 million Iraqi’s, more Afghans have died than those in 9/11, and we have lost 4,100 plus US soldiers since 9/11, compared with roughly 3,000 lost in 9/11. The fact of the matter is there are a lot of questions about 9/11 that need to be addressed. You Ken, and none of us can do that. So Ken, why don’t you quit wasting your time bashing someone who has apparently committed his life to defending our nation, and learn about what is happening and coming to light today. He obviously is dedicated enough to break this story. If anything, this lends credit to the theory that 9/11 was an inside job. But you want to say that you hope more people like him are killed and that you’d piss on their bodies? Ken you’re an idiot. Why don’t you do more research than what you can find on YouTube, as one other blogger suggested. The more people like you that whine about 9/11 at every opportunity, the more the bigger issues get trivialized. Millions of people have died since that day. Our rights are being pissed on by our own government. I know that the argument is that 9/11 is what led to all of this. I don’t dispute that, but we can’t prove it. Here you a have an officer of one of the most elite branches of the US military who is essentially saying that a high level official of the US government, called off a sound plan to kill Bin Laden. Two others that come to my mind are the operation at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba and the support of the Chetniks in Yugoslavia, once it was decided that Tito and his communists would be supported. Soldier of Fortune Magazine did a story on that many years back, about how the logistical support for the Chetniks was deliberately upgaphuq’d. There are probably many other examples as well. Oh, here’s another one … CIA assets on the ground in Iraq had an opportunity to get rid of Saddam back in the 90’s, that was another one that was never approved despite a clear cut opportunity. The bottom line is that US foreign policy is other than what it might seem to Joe Sixpack and Sally Soccermom and their football watching/bowling league buddies. If you are not on the inside, you are on the outside.
Regarding how this fits into 9-11 … that 9-11 was an inside job is a very reasonable conclusion once all of the so-called “coincidences” are examined via actuarial analysis and the facts are looked at regarding the mechanics of the collapses of the WTC

Regarding how this fits into 9-11 … that 9-11 was an inside job is a very reasonable conclusion once all of the so-called “coincidences” are examined via actuarial analysis and the facts are looked at regarding the mechanics of the collapses of the WTC buildings, the well corroborated testimony of Willy Rodriguez, the questionable stories of the Pentagon being hit by an airliner vs all of the evidence against that, the lack of debris at the alleged crash site of flight 93, the “who” as in who benefited, etc. Once you reach that conclusion, the failure of Delta to take out Bin Laden appears to be deliberate sabotage.

Truth, im a little late on my response to you but if you noticed you spelled plane wrong, so obviously if your idea that i have no education is warranted by me typing the word “hear” wrong, then you must be an idiot yourself, so all the facts that you throw at me arent even worth my study. AG i thank you for actually having a educated response and i actually do see some of the points you mentioned, but time and time again i meet people who only get half truths from there friends and just start running there mouth. I understand that you might respect the fact that soldiers do what they do, but then i read things by other guys on this very forum about how they would piss on dead soldiers, as if they conspired 911.
