(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted on Thursday that none of his Senate colleagues would ”have the chance” to read the entire final version of the $790-billion stimulus bill before the bill comes up for a final vote in Congress.
“No, I don’t think anyone will have the chance to [read the entire bill],” Lautenberg told CNSNews.com.
The final bill, crafted by a House-Senate conference committee, was posted on the Website of the House Appropriations Committe late Thurday in two PDF files.
The first PDF was 424 pages long and the second PDF was 575 pages long, making the total bill 999 pages long. The House is expected to vote on this 999-page bill Friday, and the Senate either later Friday or Saturday. [Editor's note: The first PDF, as posted on the House Appropriations Committee website as of 8:20 AM Friday morning, had grown by 72 pages to 496 pages, increasing the length of the total document to 1,071 pages.]
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
Of the several senators that CNSNews.com interviewed on Thursday, only Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) claimed to have read the entire bill–and he was speaking of the preliminary version that had been approved by the Senate, not the final 999-page version that the House-Senate conference committee was still haggling over on Thursday afternoon.
When CNSNews.com asked members of both parties on Capitol Hill on Thursday whether they had read the full, final bill, not one member could say, “Yes.”
And only one–Voinovich–volunteered that he had actually read the version of the bill that had passed the Senate.
Both Republicans and Democrats told CNSNews.com they were eager to read the unseen bill–once they could get get their hands on a copy of the final legislation.
Nonetheless, members from both sides of the aisle in both the House and Senate admitted they doubted they would have adequate time to read the bill before they actually voted for it.
“Certainly I hope to have the opportunity to go through [the bill] before the vote takes place,” said Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told CNSNews.com. “But that’s something I’ve found doesn’t always happen around here.”

Is anybody suprised by this? Over a 1,000 pages…these criminals DON’T CARE…they have better things to do like getting re-elected over and over again with only a single digit approval rating…

1000 page bill? Just like the Patriot act it is: A) a very long bill which means someone has been working on it LONG before now, like months ago, B) it is being ramrodded through without the chance for people to read it, have an honest debate, give feedback to their reps and senators, etc. C) It is full of pork and restricts freedom.
I hope those who vote for it burn in hell for betraying the Constitution and the people. Will this be the start of hyper-inflation? Martial Law? Revolution? time will tell.

This is crazy. They push through the most expensive bill ever through without reading the entire thing. They know a lot of Americans are not for the bill. If they were sure this bill was going to make everyone happy, the POTUS wouldn’t be flying all over the country and appearing on tv to “sell” it. Not to mention the money belongs to the taxpayers. Yet they claim they are doing this for the taxpayers. If our reps don’t listen to us, what are we supposed to do about it, before the next election?

They don`t have time to read it before they vote. Would anyone retain an attorney that wouldn`t read a contract but signed it anyway ? That would be grounds ror disbarment I would think.

Eh, not to worry, living in the Deep south, the KKK hasn’t done SHIT in years…
Other than being idiot racist… and maybe flying rebel flag, they can’t even stop their daughters, wives, and sisters from dating and Marrying people outside of their own race, so how the hell can do anything?
All the Jew bashing, etc.. I personally find it funny… simply because these KKK idiots will be the cannon fodder for the Police State, and might give everyone else a chance to run, hide, and fight another day… Someone has to catch a bullet… might as well be dumbasses in white sheets.

Great point….let’s also include alcohol testing. Let’s not stop there either. How about MMPI’s. Do these bastards ‘used to hate their mothers’? Do they ‘have dark and tarry stools’? We’re forced to play by their stupid fucked up rules. They should be too when the overall safety of the public is at risk.

It should be illegal for a Congressman or Senator to vote on a bill they haven’t read.
In fact they should impose a minimun wait-to-vote time on bills, ie. 100 pages = 1 week, 200 pages = 2 weeks wait time. This would allow for congressmen to hire lawyers and review the legal, intricate documents.
Then, they should be tested on the information in the text to insure they understand what it really says. Fail the test, NO voting for you.
Finally there need to be a Constitutional court review on the merits of the legislation, as to whether or not it is Constitutional, and if not, the legislation is scrapped regardless of votes or sponsors. The court hearing on 1,000+ pages should take years to fully review.
1.) Read the bills,
2.) Mandatory wait and review period of time,
3.) Testing voting Reps. and Senators on information in bill to prove they know the legislation
4.) Constitutional Court reviews on all approved legislation proving it is Constitutionally legal.

Robert A,
I couldn’t agree with you more. Supposedly, there are lawyers that look over the bills to make sure they abide by our constitution; but obviously, we all know that’s not happening. In addition to your suggestions, another would be to remove the toxic, lethal prescription drug commercials and replace them with the bills. The bills would be on all the local stations and have to run for 60 or 90 days with a brief summary of the finer points. There are so many bills, which are submitted, that people do not know about.

I have bad news for Alex Jones, and all the rest whom believe a non-violent revolution will succeed in ending the madness that this republic has sunk into. First of all, America is not a republic anymore; even though we get the chance to “choose” between only two candidates (most of the time, to pick from), ballot boxes and votes are STILL manipulated, leaving us with one candidate. Add upon this the ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE influence of corporations via lobbyists and the “campaign contributions” they so generously endow them with. So we are trying to utilize a system that has transformed essentially into a Corptocracy, to achieve the peoples (i.e. the REPUBLIC’S) goals.
This really doesn’t matter though, because the VAST MAJORITY of people are completely and utterly helpless. Religion, political ideologies (parties), the corporate-controlled media, etc. have deluded the people into believing the “NWO’s, power elite, banksters, whatever” agenda. Whether any of you want to believe it or not, aspects of your lives are being lorded over by unseen puppet masters.
Try a violent revolution though, please do. You’ll never be able to organize in the masse required to overthrow the government. The organization would be quickly infiltrated, leaders assassinated, agenda vilified, and put down. Off chance you get the revolt organized and start a march, the military and national guard would end it in a DAY.

I have good news:
A revolution is coming.
An information war is essential but is not revolution. And I agree that a violent revolution will never work – the military industrial complex is too well armed.
However, a monetary revolution will achieve our objectives.
If you stop using the filthy money that they supply to you, their banking system will dissolve. When you switch to an alternative currency the bankers will no longer be able to steal from you through inflation and usury. You will not be dependent upon them for credit and you will no longer be dictated to by the politicians that the bankers employ.
Using a monetary system that is not exploited by the central bankers and politicians will leave you in control of you money. When you are no longer subjected to inflation, usury, taxation and corporate fascism, you will achieve personal wealth and security with remarkable ease.
Click the link below to explore a new inflation-proof currency, new economic format and new social structure that leaves the criminal bankers and corrupt politicians out of the picture altogether.
Don’t fight the system:
Replace it
