An Associated Press article has stunned some readers by suggesting that an ongoing global cooling trend is actually indicative of how quickly the planet is succumbing to man-made global warming.
The bizarre statement appeared in a panic-inducing article that emphasizes man-made warming fears and highlights how president elect Obama must tackle them with new laws including a carbon tax “cap-and-trade” system.
“Mother Nature, of course, is oblivious to the federal government’s machinations.” writes Seth Borenstein.
“Ironically, 2008 is on pace to be a slightly cooler year in a steadily rising temperature trend line. Experts say it’s thanks to a La Nina weather variation. While skeptics are already using it as evidence of some kind of cooling trend, it actually illustrates how fast the world is warming.”
The article goes on to state:
“Since Clinton’s inauguration, summer Arctic sea ice has lost the equivalent of Alaska, California and Texas. The 10 hottest years on record have occurred since Clinton’s second inauguration. Global warming is accelerating. Time is close to running out, and Obama knows it.”
Chief global warming propagandists the World Wildlife Fund released a report earlier this year claiming that Arctic ice was shrinking at an alarming rate, leading to forecasts that the “North Pole may be ice-free for first time this summer”.
Such predictions were debunked after it emerged that Arctic ice had actually expanded 30 per cent, an area the size of Germany, a fact conveniently overlooked by the WWF.

Meanwhile temperatures have hit record lows in Denver and Montana as the Northeast United States experiences some of the worst snow and ice storms for a generation.
2008 is the coldest year of the decade and record low temperatures have hit areas all over America.
This has little to do with a “weather variation” and everything to do with the fact that the chief climate driver throughout eons of natural climate change – the sun – has exhibited a record barren spell of sunspots, which is causing the global cooling we are now witnessing all over the world. Conversely, throughout the 1990’s and in the early years of this decade, during which global warming reached its peak, the sun was more active than it had been at anytime in the previous 1,000 years.
The most recent period during which solar activity massively decreased was between 1645 and 1715, known as the Maunder Minimum, which also coincided with the geological period known as the Little Ice Age, when temperatures plummeted all over the world and the Thames in London was frozen solid.
The fact that the corporate media has openly abandoned any pretense of balance and fully thrown its weight behind the religious fervor of global warming – an orthodoxy that refuses to allow anyone to question its supreme and absolute dogma – again highlights how desperate the climate change PR assault has become in the face of over 650 scientists signing their names to a US Senate Minority report that challenges the contention of the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change that there is a scientific “consensus” on the causes of global warming.
Now that the real catalyst behind climate change, the sun, has dealt a blow to the global warming propagandists by daring to produce less sunspots, the climate change lobby will now merely claim that global cooling is a part of global warming, and that we must still lower our living standards and pay carbon taxes, while all the real environmental problems are ignored or actively made worse by the same power brokers demanding that we make sacrifices in the name of fighting a non-existent threat.

You might google some axis shift websites? Some are doomsayers, but makes sense of weather patterns. Global warming by man is just a political agenda. Volcanos have spewed out more pollutants than man could in 150 years, and earth has soaked it right up,. If earth has these materials to burn, why can’t we use them??? Were sooooooooo smart??? the earth is billions of years old, but our 150 yrs of Industrialism, we figured out everything right?

The repeater/mockingbird/presstitute naturally ignores the correction of data on temperatures that was made by McKitrick and McIntyre to correlate the way temperatures were previously recorded and the way they are now. When those corrections are made, the hottest year on record becomes 1934, not 1998 (which falls to 2nd), followed by 1921.

I saw the AP article and knew it would end up on here. It’s so Orwellian it would be hilarious if it weren’t for all the kool-aid drinkers out there willing to be enviro-cops.
I have found the global warming hoax is a good issue to wake people up on who are coming from the conservative (ie. distrust of liberal agenda) background. The same people who won’t even consider that 9/11 is an inside job will at least look into this.

I’ve always thought “Global Warming” was a crock. I’d simply never experienced it. To me the temps seem the same as they always have. History shows that there have been DRASTIC temperature shifts, irregardless of Man’s existance.
I’m with most people – humans are impacting the earth in a small mean way. We should absolutely be better stewards! But “Global Warming” and “Climate Change” are evil movements that seek to suppress the people ever more. This is reminiscent of the feminist movement. It sounded so great! Give women freedom! But it ended up with broken families, more taxation, babies in daycare, abortion, etc. Sigh. It’s the devil’s work.

This term fits the bill : global cooling, global warming, erratic weather.
We can see with our own eyes the realty that our atmosphere is being tampered with by deliberate pollution of our skies via high flying jets. Add in some Haarp technology and manipulate the weather. Although obviously a modern equivalent of anciant rulers knowing of an upcoming total eclipse and saying they will block out the sun, an obvious ploy to free thinking individuals, using ‘Climate Change’ as the term at least means they’re not wrong. But by using the term Global Warming they made a big mistake and so many people that otherwise wouldn’t, see the lie!

not to be a dick or anything. My Grandfather was a Meteorologist who kept weather records every day since he was in world war 2. Well his records clearly showed the temperatures rising over time. My grandfather figured out that this change would result in not only in global warming, but would also cause cooling as well. My grandfather was not a mason, he was not a reptilian overlord from dimension 4. My grandfather was not a bilderberger or a Illuminati Agent. He was obsessed with weather and charts, he hand recorded the temperatures and barometric readings wind speed wind direction and other information 3 times a day. Anyway yeah global warming and global cooling are definitely happening, and they are related. Doesn’t mean we need a tax on carbon (anything living contains carbon!?!?!) Order Of Death Cult indeed.

Whether global warming is a fact or fiction humans certainly are in no position to declare it. We cannot predict an earthquake or a volcano eruption or the exact starting place of a hurricane or a tornado, but we can predict global warming what arrogance. I personally do not believe we are causing global warming when one considers that only one fifth of the earth’s entire surface is land mass. To suggest that we can cause the whole planet to overheat is a farfetched idea in my opinion.

It beggars belief that we have come to this. The NASA people have just released a report stating we have lost 2 trillion tonnes of ice since 2003…but no mention of the re-freeze experienced since the sun cycle changed about 18 months ago.
The snow is deep and crisp and even througout many parts of the northen hemisphere…with the exception of parts of Russia.
The BBC yesterday did a report on no snow in Moscow but no mention of where it IS falling.

Many scientists have known for quite some time that the precision of the equanox occuring every 40,000 years can and has caused polar shifts in the earth’s magnetic fields.
Similarly a mini-ice age has occured every 14,000 years as evidenced by ice core samples taken from Greenland. This notion of mankind having any effect whatsoever on these natural cycles of our solar system is just polar bear dung. As we all know the sun has similar cycles relating to the numerosity or lack there of sun spots which eject gama rays sometimes in the direction of the earth. during the 90s and 2003-2006 these solar ejections were quite numerous indeed. As of late they have ceased almost entirely. A direct hit on the earths atmosphere is rare, but never less happens. Such a hit can seriously degrade the stability of the spin of the earth much the same way a toy top spinning on the ground begins to degenerate with respect to the symetry and integrety of the spin which keeps the top in balance and on point. Thusly the top begins a slight wobble such as the earth is capable of.
This of course results in a misalignment of magnetic north and south, and in some cases has the potential to move and/ or submerge large continents. A direct result of a torque exerted on the earths crust, much like the skin of an orange during your atempt to peal and remove the skin. The emissions of carbon dioxide and methane gases my contribute to pollution of the planet and atmosphere, but indeed has not effect whatsoever on the natural cylces of our universe. One must deduce that an inconvenient truth exists here in that the presence of such man made gases is a splendid excuse to extract tax revanues from the poor misguided inhabitants of this doomed planet in order to pad the pockets of the master money changers of the world. They shall parish as money is of no value in the absence of food, shelter, and the survivability temporarily provided to the inhabitants of the earth between said solar cycles. I Shall retire to my laboratory here on the far side of the moon where I have worked with intelligent beings for many decades.

Sigh…this is how global warming works. Rising temperatures ensure more water is evaporating, which blocks the sun, so it grows colder; you have more precipitations (rain or snow, depending on the current climate), then the sun shines again, and the cycle starts again, but from a slightly higher notch. Also, the precipitations are not evenly distributed, so some countries will receive more and other will be depleted slowly. We have had heavy snowfalls for a while(I live in a certain altitude), then, we went from -18 celsius to 8 in one night. We could see the snow melting and evaporating all over the mountains. The next day, back to -10. This is the kind of seesaw most are predicting with global warming. There is a nice pbs Nova video on global dimming, the other half of the equation. Climate is always changing, it’s just that the human population is drastically affecting the cycles because it burns a lot of resources, shooting tiny dust particles in the sky like a constant volcanoe. The carbon tax is about fossile fuel burning regulation, not human breathing.

In fact, it’s going to be a tax on energy consumption(electricity and travel), which is in fact impractical. Too small a tax will only irritate people and not help change consuming habits. Too high a tax would hamper economy, which does’nt that right now. So it’s going to be mostly subsidies to research into new clean energy, and the carbon tax will be forgotten.
Finally, I find it deliciously ironic that Watson chose ‘appeared in a panic-inducing article ‘ in his own piece; I’m reading this on prisonplanet, right? With the add for endgame on the side ‘once in place they can engage their plan to exterminate 80% of the world’s population..’

carbon tax is a great idea, if the money is used right. Global warming is a real threat, and its only the lazy revolutionists who decide to fight it. And even if it were just “SUN SPOTS” i think maybe finding more effecient ways to live our lives isnt such a bad idea. We need to change our system, this is true. We need regulation for the money that we pay as a carbon tax, this is true, but to say that golbal warming is non existent is just ignorant. Its a betrayal of humanity.

I continue to wonder why an alternative media site is so big on this issue…as the skeptic/denier camp has allies in very high places within the Bush administration who are helping to circulate stories like this and big oil companies and think tanks who are willing to fund the research of climate change skeptics. I really don’t see climate change skeptics as the underdogs in this scenario…not with the kinds of powerful support they receive.
I really think alot of the posters here have been sucked into the propaganda being pumped out by big oil and their lackies. Look into the science behind global warming a little before you completely dismiss it. I think articles like this are great for helping to foster a healthy skepticism regarding sacred cows of all kinds, but you shouldn’t make an new religion out of this anti-global warming stuff. The science is still evolving and you can’t scream bloody murder every time a report (or opinion piece in this case) comes out that supports your particular point of view.
I also am really perplexed by the NWO implications connected to carbon taxes and climate change action. Were George Bush and Stephen Harper (as Kyoto holdouts and strongly anti-carbon tax) protecting North America from a new world order through their opposition to Kyoto and carbon taxes? Or are they just serving their base (Bush=oil rich texas/ Harper=oil rich Alberta). I think the NWO argument needs to be refined (it is riddled with contradictions) and not just hauled out as a bogey man whenever it is convenient. It seems to me that a carbon tax, by promoting more localized forms of energy production (solar and wind) and more locally centred economic activity (in the wake of increased fuel costs) would actually be an excellent weapon against globalizing forces. I still haven’t heard a good argument for why we should be afraid to reduce our level of CO2 production, or to implement a carbon tax to help move us away from our petrol economy.
Maybe Global warming has become a sacred cow in the media, but the media is riddled with sacred cows of all kinds. Can anyone tell me why the fight against the sacred cow of global warming is important? Especially when big oil and big political powers are already taking up the cause of the skeptics.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Levels of CO2 production have been increasing for the the past century. Temperatures have been trending upward for the period that we have reliable atmospheric data. Ice fields and glaciers have been shrinking and receding for the period that we have reliable data.
Sure, you can argue that this is all part of a natural cycle and that the relationship between increased CO2 production and warming trends is coincidental (I’m all for maintaining a healthy level of skepticism), but I find it really odd how so many people on this site are ridiculing anyone who takes global warming seriously. And continually asserting that there is zero evidence for human caused global warming doesn’t make it so. There is a weird religious-like zeal here…somehow its related to (that great satan) NWO, but I still can’t wrap my head around the whole NWO link to Global warming.
Someone please tell me how ending our economic dependence on cheap oil would lead to globalization. Wouldn’t it necessarily force us to produce consumer goods and food closer to home. Wouldn’t it force us to use more locally available sources of energy (wind and solar). I think its obvious that if you localize the economy in these ways, then political power structures will likewise become more localized. Carbon taxes can be applied at local, state, national levels. It doesn’t have to mean international taxation at all. And even if we did sign on to Kyoto (which I believe we should), how would that contribute to any kind of nefarious NWO. As far as I know, there is no extra-national or international governing body involved in kyoto. Its an agreement among sovereign nations.
I’ve been into the anti-globalization movement for years now, and I like a lot of the stuff on this site, but coming here is kind of like going to a Pentecostal church. Except instead of seeing the devil everywhere, its the NWO. The devil doesn’t exist, and neither does the NWO. Sure there’s evil in the world, and sure there’s a lot of people and groups bent on world domination, but its a big intellectually dishonest to create these convenient bogey-man characters to scare the congregation.

So after setting record highs in average temperatures for 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, one down year is suddenly seen as “evidence” that global warming is a sham. And this despite the fact that 2008 will still be in the top 10 as far as hottest years on record.
If history is any guide, CO2 emissions trend downward during times of economic contraction due to decreased industrial output. The trend graphs also historically show corresponding slight decreases in average temperatures during these times.

Volcanoes and natural decay of flora all over the planet send something like 200 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide each year….. 30 times as much as we do as a civilization! Flatearther…can you send me a link where I can find more info on the global warming tax that will directly fund the UN. I’ve not heard of it. Member states already fund the UN with fees so unless its something that appears on my paycheque, then I don’t think its likely a new precedent. It would be more of a new approach to funding the organization…but that being said I’ve never heard the idea forwarded by any politician on this continent, and feel like it would be political suicide to do so. So it doesn’t worry me too much at this point. Also, you may have noted that Barack Obama, the president elect, recently appointed a new representative to the UN in a very public announcement. So, I would say the UN is as democratic as its member states…which is of course not really saying much. I tend to think we are inevitably going to have world government in some form, and I would prefer it to have some democratic basis as oppossed to the corporate world governance model we see in the WTO for instance. Tarring all forms of world government with the NWO label is overly simplistic.
Maybe the idea of global warming was considered by a think tank in the 70s, but I don’t believe a think tank could have fudged all the meteorological data that supports the science of global warming. Unless you think the world’s weathermen are some kind of evil conspiratorial society…come to think of it, I recall Sarah Palin did say something about terrorist weatherman in the election campaign. Wasn’t Obama somehow connected. Hmmm?
Also, what do you think of my assertion that a carbon tax would actually be decentralizing force in the world due to the slowing of a petro based economy? To me, carbon taxation would be an awesome arrow in the anti-globalist quiver. Eppy – you can’t be ‘part of Mensa’. No Mensa members describe themselves as being ‘part’ of it. Mensa is a social networking group with many special interest groups, not some kind of world-wide research organization. It holds no opinion on anything and is completely non-political.

While the Watson’s are usually on the mark, this article should never have been written. It has nothing to do with the issue of false-flag man-made global warming as a pretext to enforcing carbon taxes on the world.
According to what I’ve heard Felix say over the years, global warming and cooling are interrelated.
Felix has said that solar radiation cycles, underground volcanoes and changes in the Atlantic currents have brought about a 17% increase in the atmospheric moisture – and that this increase in atmospheric moisture is the necessary forerunner of an ice age – which in turn brings about global cooling.
